《The Young Matriarch》 Chapter 1 Editor: Henyee Translations It was the beginning of March, when the early spring weather still felt chilly. A heavy rainfall caused mist to rise up and completely shroud the Yunwu Mountains, making it seem like an immortal¡¯s residence. A young lady could be seen, standing at the winding road while holding onto a paper umbrella. She was dressed in a simple, bamboo patterned dress with a cloth bag slung on her right arm. She was gazing thoughtfully at the torrential rain. The lady had extremely beautiful facial features, glowing fair skin, natural cherry red lips and a demeanor that seemed ethereal, especially in these scenic settings. Interesting thoughts swivelled in Bai Chuwei¡¯s mesmerising eyes. Her jade-like slender fingers gently touched her chin and she murmured to herself. ¡°It seems that the Bai Family has no intentions to fetch me. Is the scenario kick starting so early?¡± Bai Chuwei had transmigrated into a cannon fodder, commonly found in Mary Sue novels while being bound to a tyrannical system. However, an irreversible malfunction occurred and that trashy system sent her to that world, five thousand years earlier! After Bai Chuwei lived for five thousand years, becoming someone who could be regarded as an ancestor, the intended plot finally began. Right then, a sleek-looking luxurious black sedan with smooth lines, drove through the layers of fog. Bai Chuwei immediately walked to the middle of the road and waved at the luxurious black Rolls Royce. Her actions caused the car to stop, and the driver wound down the window, halfway. He looked at Bai Chuwei in surprise and asked politely. ¡°Young lady, do you need something?¡± Bai Chuwei¡¯s eyes curved into crescent moons and revealed two rows of pearly white teeth. ¡°Since you are passing by, can you give me a ride?¡± Evidently, the driver was unable to take that call and turned to look inside the car with an awkward expression. All of a sudden, a mellow and deep male voice sounded from the deep interiors of the car. ¡°No. Drive on.¡± Through the rain splashed window, Bai Chuwei saw an exceedingly handsome man leaning against the car¡¯s back seat, with his eyes shut. He had a straight nose, and a cold-looking face. All in all, he was exceedingly handsome. Even for someone like Bai Chuwei who had lived for more than five thousand years, she could not help but get surprised. When dealing with an attractive person, anyone would be more patient than usual. Her ruddy lips curled up slightly and she said, ¡°Are you lost? I know the directions to get to the highway.¡± The young man seated in the front passenger seat became ecstatic upon listening to her words and made a decision on his own. ¡°That¡¯s great! Finally there¡¯s no need to continuously roam in circles around this place. Hurry up and get in.¡± The warmth from the car engulfed Bai Chuwei the minute she opened the rear door. She neatly folded her paper umbrella and slid in. Bai Chuwei finally got a clear view of the man¡¯s appearance when she entered the car. His facial features gave off a cold aura and his sideview looked picture perfect. He was wearing a formal black suit and there was a string of sandalwood beads on his left wrist. Even though he sat there quietly, it was quite impossible to ignore his existence. The aura of such a man was blatantly obvious. Duan Feihan¡¯s slender fingers rubbed the string of Buddha beads absently as he opened his eyes and threw a freezing glance at the gorgeous Bai Chuwei. Looking at her, his eyes gradually darkened. It was raining crazily on the mountain, but there was not even a drop of water on her hair. Moreover, there were no signs of stains on her cloth shoes due to muddy water. Instead, she appeared clean and dry. The whole picture felt odd, somehow. Bai Chuwei also frowned slightly. The man looked familiar, but she could not recall anything specific about him. Suddenly, she pointed in the front and said, ¡°Turn left at the intersection up ahead.¡± The young man in the front passenger seat asked in a doubtful tone. ¡°Do you really know the way? We turned left earlier, but still ended up circling around the area.¡± Bai Chuwei gave a tiny smile and said in a firm voice, ¡°Turn left.¡± Ten minutes later, the understated Rolls Royce finally drove out of Yunwu Mountain. It felt as if the clouds dispersed and the sun had finally arrived. The driver clapped at the steering wheel and said excitedly, ¡°Oh my! Young lady, you are blessed. We¡¯ve really managed to come out of the fog!¡± Chapter 2 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei adjusted her posture and leaned against the window with a small smile on her face. ¡°It¡¯s a usual occurrence.¡± The young man seated in the front passenger seat happily stretched his arms before turning behind to stare at the noble-looking man. With guilt lacing his voice, he said, ¡°Fourth Uncle, I¡¯m sorry for dragging you here without checking it out, properly. In the end, we did not manage to locate that miracle doctor and even delayed your meeting.¡± With his eyes still half shut, Duan Feihan responded noncommittally in his deep voice. He didn¡¯t seem too perturbed by it. The sound of his voice was like a melodious note of a cello, inexplicably stirring and teasing. Bai Chuwei could not help herself but sneak a few more glances at the guy. It was pleasing to look at a face blessed by God! In addition, his body continuously radiated a weak spiritual aura which made her slightly greedy for it. Duan Xingye who was seated in the front seat, scratched his head in vexation. He was anxious and flustered at the same time. ¡°Grandfather is critically ill right now, but all those famed doctors and experts from around the world, seem to be ineffective in improving his condition. That classmate of mine mentioned about this miracle doctor residing in the Yunwu Mountain and I rushed here without much consideration.¡± Duan Xingye looked at the fast disappearing Yunwu Mountain from the rear view mirror and said in a discouraged tone, ¡°Maybe the rumors about the miracle doctor are untrue. Making the dead come back to life, that would make the doctor an immortal, right? Ah, I reckon it must be an imaginary character, which my dear friend made up.¡± All of a sudden, a pleasant sounding laughter could be heard from the back seat. Duan Xingye raised his brows and looked at Bai Chuwen in surprise. ¡°What are you laughing at?¡± Bai Chuwen restrained her smile and said, ¡°Please drop me at the South of Sea City, Shuangbai Road since you are passing by it. There was a cluster of villas in the South of Sea City, Shuangbai Road, and one of those villas belonged to the Bai Family. A wave of silence enveloped the car¡¯s cabin. Duan Xingye was taken aback. With wide eyes, he stared at the beautiful young lady who had taken a lift from them. What the heck? This is the first time I¡¯ve seen someone so shameless! Driving her down the mountain wasn¡¯t enough? Now, she is even asking us to send her home? Even Duan Feihan who was mediating, opened his eyes and looked at her. His gaze was indifferent yet penetrating. Bai Chuwen met Duan Feihan¡¯s gaze that felt chilly like an iceberg. She looked steadily at him and maintained a neutral tone. After a few seconds, she said, ¡°Are you not aware of the location? I can give you directions.¡± As a person in power of the century old and wealthy Duan Family, Duan Feihan possessed an innate and powerful aura. Even in the business industry, only a very few people dared to meet his eyes. But this young woman seemed unfazed. Bai Chuwen stroked her chin and asked in an intriguing manner. ¡°Mister, has anyone told you that you look like a much-coveted piece of meat on legs?¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s serene eyes shrunk suddenly. In his blurry memory, there seemed to be a young lady who had also described him like this when he was a child.¡± Duan Xingye was worried that his Fourth Uncle would chase the beautiful lady away and he hastily said, ¡°Isn¡¯t it just dropping you off? We¡¯ll do just that..¡± He gestured to the driver to drive on. After driving for half an hour after coming down from Yunwu Mountain, Bai Chuwei saw the stark white townhouses through the window. She instructed in a melodious voice. ¡°You can stop here.¡± Bai Chuwei unfolded her umbrella and got down. She then knocked on the front seat window and passed a bag full of vegetables to Duan Xingye with a smile. ¡°Thank you for giving me a ride. Your grandfather has a stomach disease. Let him have some of the vegetables which I planted. Take it as my fare for this ride.¡± After that, Bai Chuwen walked towards the townhouses under the protection of the umbrella. Her graceful figure gradually disappeared into the distance. It was still raining heavily and the Rolls Royce was parked right in the middle of the road. The people in the car were in shock. Duan Xingye and the driver looked at each other before the driver exclaimed. ¡°How did she know that our old master has a stomach disease?¡± Duan Xingye was at a loss as well. He had not mentioned that his grandfather was suffering from a stomach disease¡ Could it be his Fourth Uncle? He turned back and looked at Duan Feihan. The elegant looking man¡¯s brows were furrowed. But his focus was on an entirely different issue. ¡°This car is mine.¡± Then, why did she thank Duan Xingye for giving her a ride, instead of him? Chapter 3 Editor: Henyee Translations Inside the European style villa, the entire Bai Family were currently seated on the sofa. The white-haired old man, Bai Guofu was clenching his cane tightly. His face was flushed red in anger and he reprimanded in a loud voice. ¡°Are my words of no importance, now? I gave you the task to fetch someone. Why didn¡¯t you go?¡± Different members of the Bai Family had different reactions to his words. The old man, who always remained aloof and away from the worldly affairs, had suddenly announced yesterday that he was going to bring in a girl from the countryside into the family. Moreover, she would be staying here for an indefinite period. This news was like a stone thrown into a calm lake, that stirred up great ripples. A delicate young lady who was seated at the corner seat, pouted and tried to explain to the old man. ¡°Grandfather, it¡¯s raining so hard outside. Can¡¯t we fetch her after the rain stops?¡± Bai Yinyin was feeling a strong sense of crisis towards the girl who was yet to appear. She was the only girl in this generation of the Bai Family and thus, she had been doted upon by her grandfather since childhood. Naturally, she would not be fond of sharing that attention with someone else. They had originally made plans to fetch that country bumpkin from Yunwu Mountain at one o¡¯clock today. However, Bai Yinyin suddenly came up with an idea, along with her mother, to let the girl wait in the rain to teach her a lesson. Bai Yinyin looked at the downpour happily through the window and gloated secretly. She was ready to bet that the girl must be thoroughly drenched from head to toe by now. ¡°Ding~ Ding~¡± The doorbell rang all of a sudden and Bai Yinyin stood up to open the door. A young lady dressed in a clean dress of unknown material with bamboo pattern embroidered on the corner of her sleeves, was standing at their doorstep. There were no traces of mud on her shoes. Moreover, she was shockingly gorgeous. She gave off a clean and spiritual image, and the aura she excluded made her seem like a godly being. She introduced herself at the first opportunity. ¡°I¡¯m Bai Chuwei.¡± Bai Yinyin retreated in shock and immediately took out her mobile phone to check the photo which she had received previously. Unconsciously, her voice became sharper as she said, ¡°You¡¯re Bai Chuwei?¡± The Bai Chuwei in that photo was plowing the field with her trousers rolled up while wearing a large straw hat, looking vulgar and stupid at the same time. In conclusion, she seemed like a true blue country pumpkin. Bai Yinyin honestly suspected that the photographer wanted to chase her and hence, had deliberately photoshopped her image. She had never seen such a beautiful and ethereal girl in her whole life and even Tong Qingyan would lose out to her in terms of appearance. Where was the promised country bumpkin? Bai Yinyin¡¯s sense of crisis multiplied several fold and she looked at Bai Chuwei warily. Bai Chuwei briefly glanced at Bai Yinyin with a smile as she found her rather funny. She bypassed her and stepped on the fluffy carpet, making her way in, calmly. In the large hall inside the villa, everyone was sizing up the newcomer with probing looks. The old man seated on the main seat was dressed in Tang Dynasty clothes and his grip on the cane tightened visibly. He was so excited that he trembled and his aged face turned red with excitement. Bai Yinyin stared at Bai Chuwei¡¯s flawless face, unwaveringly. It seemed as if it would break with a single touch. In irritation, she loudly reprimanded. ¡°Your behavior is as expected from a country bumpkin from the rural area. Why didn¡¯t you change your shoes before entering our house? You are so undiscip¡.¡± She did not manage to finish her sentence before she was thoroughly stunned by the scene taking place before her. The old man suddenly threw away his cane and staggered as he got up. He then bent his knees and knelt before Bai Chuwei and repeatedly kowtowed to her. His voice was filled with extreme excitement as he shouted. ¡°Your junior, Bai Guofu, pays his respects to his ancestor. Bai Chuwei did not shy away from him and easily accepted the kowtow from a seventy-year-old old man while she reminisced about the past. ¡°Little Fu, it has been nearly twenty years since we saw each other.¡± The old man¡¯s eyes reddened and he cried out in happiness. Everyone present in the villa: ¡°¡ ???¡± Did the old man go crazy? Why did he kneel and kowtow to a little girl, who seemed like she had yet to reach twenty years of age? Chapter 4 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Guofu¡¯s gnarled fingers wiped away his tears and he said enthusiastically, ¡°Ancestor, please take a seat.¡± The old man Bai Guofu had given up his seat right in front of everyone to her. Then, he eagerly took out the top-grade tea leaves, which he would be reluctant to drink on a normal occasion, to personally brew a cup of tea for Bai Chuwei. This behavior of his was unbecoming as the dignified master of the Bai Family. Instead, he resembled a¡ lackey? The scene stunned everyone into silence. No one had expected such a development to occur. Bai Yinyin raised her eyes to meet those of her parents and she wondered if her grandfather was suddenly suffering from Alzheimer¡¯s disease. Bai Chuwei¡¯s beautiful eyes surveyed her surroundings and from the looks of it, the villa was spread across five hundred square meters approximately. It was three stories high and had a basement. In addition, it came with a garden and was decorated in authentic European style. Every single artifact in the house was of high quality. Bai Yinyin noticed Bai Chuwei¡¯s wandering gaze and coldly snorted as she muttered in ridicule. ¡°As expected of a country bumpkin. I¡¯m sure that you¡¯ve not stayed in such a luxurious house before.¡± Bai Chuwei received the tea that the old man had personally brewed. After taking a sip, she coincidentally spoke at the same time as Bai Yinyin, ¡°Little Fu, it seems like the Bai Family is getting poorer under your management. I remember that the grand Bai Family of the past had occupied the entire west mountain, and was a big household with a lot of businesses. Right now, you¡¯re staying in such a tiny house?¡± T-tiny house? Bai Yinyin was stunned for a moment. She flushed red in anger before leveling a glare at Bai Chuwei. She spoke in a discomfited voice, ¡°Who are you to speak to my grandfather in this tone? Do you know how expensive villas are in this area? This villa itself is worth fifty million! You can¡¯t even afford to buy our toilet even if you sold yourself!¡± *Pa-pa!* Two loud slaps resounded through the hall. Bai Yinyin covered her reddened cheeks and looked at her grandfather in disbelief. Her lips had started to tremble. ¡°Grandfather¡ you hit me? You hit me for the sake of this outsider? You¡¯ve never laid even a finger at me since I was born!¡± Bai Guofu angrily reproached her. ¡°Outsider? How is your ancestor an outsider? Yinyin, you better behave yourself and immediately apologize to her!¡± At that moment, the only thought that surfaced in Bai Yinyin¡¯s mind was to disfigure Bai Chuwei¡¯s face. She cried and ran into her mother¡¯s embrace while tears streamed down her face. ¡°On what basis do I have to apologize? I won¡¯t apologize!¡± You want me to apologize? Dream on! With an embarrassed look, Bai Guofu turned to face Bai Chuwei. He rubbed his hands awkwardly and said, ¡°I¡¯m sorry to have let you witness a sorry spectacle like this. I failed in disciplining my granddaughter. The Bai Family¡ has indeed declined under my management.¡± If it were someone else who said that, Bai Guofu would have already flown into a rage. However, the one who had spoken these words, was the ancestor! Bai Guofu peered at Bai Chuwei through the mist of the fragrant tea. He sighed deep down inside. Sixty years ago when he was ten years old, the country was in a state of famine and he had lost many family members to death due to hunger. On his deathbed, his father had told him to visit his ancestor in Yunwu Mountains. At that point in time, he had fainted at Bai Chuwei¡¯s doorsteps after arduously climbing the mountain. He had been dizzy with hunger. Not only did the ancestor save him by providing him with food, she also gave him seeds to cultivate. Back in those days, food that could save lives were much more precious compared to gold! With the food and seeds which Bai Chuwei gave him, he managed to survive and slowly began to prosper. Bai Guofu glanced at Bai Chuwei and noticed that she had come empty-handed. Despite having lived for more than seventy years and after tasting countless delicacies, he was still unable to forget the taste of cabbages that his ancestor had planted! Bai Chuwei put down the teacup and shot a glance at the sobbing Bai Yinyin with amusement in her eyes. ¡°I took a free ride here earlier, and gifted the vegetables to the car owner.¡± The moment Bai Guofu heard that, his heart ached. He got so angry that he wanted to beat his granddaughter once again! It was all due to Yinyin¡¯s silly idea to delay sending the car to pick up Bai Chuwei. All his vegetables were gone now because of her. Bai Yinyin covered her red cheeks with her hands and asked in anger. ¡°Grandfather, who is this woman?¡± Chapter 5 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Guofu looked at Bai Chuwei in awe and answered softly. ¡°She¡¯s your ancestor.¡± During the past sixty years, he had grown from a child to an old man with a headful of white hair. However, Bai Chuwei still looked like an 18-year-old young lady and time seemed to have stopped for her. It was impossible to discern her exact age. Bai Yinyin was so angry that she nearly vomited blood. Her grandfather¡¯s answer made her suspect if he really had Alzhemer¡¯s, now. Bai Chuwei gently twisted her neck to look at him and asked in a languid voice. ¡°Have you settled the task of my enrollment in Henghua?¡± Bai Guofu nodded deferentially. Suddenly, a glint flashed through his muddled eyes as a thought occurred to him. He then spoke to her in all cautiousness, ¡°It¡¯ll take a few more days to be finalized. Moreover, it would be safer to have parents when you¡¯re studying outside. So, I was wondering if you are willing to be registered as an adopted daughter under my second son, Bai Hongguang?¡± In fact, the old man had some selfish thoughts about that arrangement. He had two sons. His eldest son¡¯s family was rather stable, with a capable grandson who was the prime candidate to inherit the company. However, his second son¡¯s family was, honestly, too lackluster. Bai Hongguan was incapable, and spent his time drinking and indulging in pleasure, causing the old man to be deeply worried for his future. But if Bai Hongguang and his family managed to get connected with the ancestor, he would not have to worry about his second son becoming penniless after he passed away in the future. Bai Chuwei¡¯s lips curled up in a meaningful smile. She was well aware of Bai Guofu¡¯s thoughts. She sighed internally. As expected, the scenario was really unfolding as per its original track. The Bai Chuwei of the original story was an orphan and had enrolled in Henghua as the adopted daughter of the Bai Family. Even with the system malfunctioning, the scenario still remained the same. Liu Man¡¯s anger shot through the roof and she glared at her husband, Bai Hongguan. She leaned over and whispered angrily. ¡°Did you agree to let that girl get registered under our family? Why didn¡¯t you discuss this with me?¡± Since the old man had mentioned it, he must have discussed it with Bai Hongguan in private! She had been unable to conceive another child ever since her body was hurt giving birth to Bai Yinyin. Numerous private visits to famed doctors yielded no results and as time passed, Liu Man became rather headstrong and all matters of the second family had to go through her. Accepting an adopted daughter under the second family was an extremely huge matter! Did he not think about the cost of raising another daughter? Won¡¯t she need money to study? What about the future when she gets married when they would have to fork out the dowry for her? Why did that idiot Bai Hongguan agree to this? Why didn¡¯t they register that leech under the first son instead? Were they disregarding her as the mistress of the family? The thought of Bai Hongguang¡¯s womanizing behavior caused the rage in Liu Man¡¯s eyes to intensify. Bai Hongguan hastily waved his hand and said in a panicky voice, ¡°I had heard about the adoption, but I assumed that father would send her to my elder brother¡¯s family!¡± How could Liu Man possibly believe his words? If not for the fact that the old man was present, she would have given her husband a big slap at this moment. Bai Guofu looked at his second son and his wife in shock. Did they think that he was causing them harm by registering the ancestor under their family? Bai Chuwei propped her hand under her chin and looked at the husband-wife¡¯s bickering. In the original story, the foster parents had sold Bai Chuwei in the black market in exchange for money, for the sake of Bai Yinyin. The original owner had been enslaved, beaten and lived a miserable and inhuman life, suffering all possible hardships. Bai Chuwei opened her lips and added oil to the fire as she called out to Bai Hongguan in a deceptively soft voice. ¡°Father.¡± When Liu Man heard that, she immediately concluded that Bai Hongguan had not informed her and accepted the adoption in secret. In a fit of rage, she ruthlessly kicked Bai Hongguan on his ankles. The middle-aged man cried out in pain and instantly rolled down from the sofa. He rolled back and forth on the carpet in intense pain. Bai Chuwei was pretty satisfied with the result. Very good, I like watching dogfights! Chapter 6 Editor: Henyee Translations Both mother and daughter looked at Bai Chuwei, warily. Bai Yinyin dug her fingernails into her palms and clenched her teeth. She was completely flustered by this girl¡¯s presence. A country bumpkin becoming the adopted daughter of the Bai family and snatch away her position in the family? Dream on! Bai Yinyin glared at Bai Chuwei, hatefully. Did she think that she had become invincible now with her father and grandfather as her support? She shall let her know the difference between the real deal and a fake one soon! Bai Guofu glanced at his second son rolling on the ground in pain and awkwardly smiled at Bai Chuwei. He had never expected¡ that the ancestor would agree to be registered under his second son so easily. ¡°That¡¯s enough, stop embarrassing yourself!¡± Bai Guofu cleared his throat and said to his granddaughter, ¡°Yinyin, the ancestor would be without a phone right now. Get the latest model for her. I heard that there are some fruit brand or X brand phones. Whichever is the best, just buy that. I¡¯ll have the money wired to your account.¡± Bai Yinyin trembled in anger. She had been using her current phone for a year now, but why hadn¡¯t her grandfather bought the newest phone for her? She also wanted the latest mobile phone! A strong sense of crisis enveloped her and her gaze towards Bai Chuwei became increasingly unfriendly. Bai Chuwei wasn¡¯t bothered by Bai Yinyin¡¯s gaze and she flipped her hair back. After a moment, she asked in an indifferent voice. ¡°Where¡¯s my room?¡± Bai Yinyin¡¯s thought of a great idea and quickly jumped up. ¡°It¡¯s on the third floor! We prepared it for you, specially.¡± The third floor contained a small attic and its surface area was less than half the size of her bedroom. It had been used previously by their nanny for a long period of time before it became a storage room. For a country bumpkin like Bai Chuwei, she only deserved to stay in a storage room! Just as Bai Guofu was about to flare up, Bai Chuwei answered with indifference. ¡°So be it.¡± For someone who had lived for thousands of years, Bai Chuwei was no longer concerned with material comfort. Rather than following the original plot of staying opposite Bai Yinyin¡¯s room and getting disturbed by her all the time, it was better to stay alone on the third floor. She got up elegantly and headed towards the third floor. Her demeanor resembled an immortal and her posture was graceful, capturing the attention of all the servants who were present there. ¡°Too¡ Isn¡¯t she too beautiful? Just like a fairy.¡± ¡°She¡¯s really graceful, none of the young ladies in Sea City possess such elegance! Miss Chuwei has such a cool temperament.¡± ¡°¡¡± Bai Yinyin stomped her foot in anger and frustration as she heard this. While Bai Guofu chased after Bai Chuwei all the way to the third floor, Liu Man looked at her husband and gnashed her teeth, scolding him. ¡°Bai Hongguang! You better find a chance quickly to throw this slut, Bai Chuwei, out. Our family has no money to support useless people!¡± * Even though the third floor consisted only of a small attic, it was very clean. There was a single bed and a desk with a large window in the room. Climbing out of the window would lead one directly to the rooftop. It was indeed small, but quiet and clean. Bai Guofu shook his head and said, ¡°Ancestor, how can you stay in such a confined space? I shall arrange a better room for you.¡± In fact, he was feeling helpless. It was only yesterday, when his ancestor suddenly mentioned about descending the mountains and wanting to stay here. He had not found adequate time to prepare a suitable room for her during this period. Bai Chuwei waved her hand and said, ¡°This will do.¡± The old man did not dare to go against the ancestor¡¯s decision and could only sigh. He hesitated for a moment before he asked awkwardly. ¡°Respected ancestor, how did you prolong your lifespan?¡± Bai Chuwei patted Bai Guofu¡¯s grizzled hair and smiled. ¡°Little Fu, what¡¯s so good about living for so long? You¡¯ll have to constantly send others away, not knowing till when you have to continue walking this path.¡± After pondering over it, he agreed with the ancestor¡¯s words. The Bai Family was wealthy and both his sons had grown up well to have a family of their own. Even his grandchildren could be considered as capable people. There was no point coveting any extra years. After Bai Guofu left, Bai Chuwei sat down before the desk and looked out of the window at the pouring rain. Right then, a white hairy ball made its way inside the room. Chapter 7 Editor: Henyee Translations A round, white-haired hamster, so fat to the extent that his limbs could not be seen, had come in. Bai Chuwei glanced at it before clicking her tongue. ¡°Snowball, I thought you wouldn¡¯t be coming back.¡± Snowball squeaked in response. ¡°I¡¯ll go wherever you are.¡± That white-haired hamster was a pet whom she had casually given pointers to twenty years ago, back in Yunwu Mountain when she had been bored. However, she never expected it to be so dumb. Even after following her for twenty years, it still remained a hamster, incapable of transforming into a human. ¡°Animals are disallowed to transform after the founding of the nation!¡± Bai Chuwei spoke with contempt in her voice, ¡°Is this the reason that you¡¯re still a dumb hamster despite me taking care of you for twenty years?¡± Just then, a mechanical voice surfaced in the depths of her mind. [Beep, the scenario has started. Dear host, please go through all scenes and take revenge against all those trashy people who bullied the original owner.] [Beep-beep-beep, an irreversible malfunction in the system is detected. Self repair function activated, please do not disturb.] Bai Chuwei was already accustomed to this malfunctioning system and presumed that the repairs would take another few thousand years or so. In anycase, it was useless to her. Soon, she undressed and threw her clothes into the laundry basket for the maid to wash before she went to take a bath. *Knock* *Knock* After some time, Bai Yinyin entered the room after knocking and placed a phone on the table. She looked at Bai Chuwei and said coldly, ¡°Here you go. I have got the phone for you and already inserted a new sim card inside.¡± Bai Chuwei glanced at the phone and noticed some wear and tear around the corners of the handset. She furrowed her brows said. ¡°It¡¯s a used product.¡± It was indeed an old phone. Bai Yinyin got a big shock. She had no idea how Bai Chuwei managed to realize that it was a used phone in just a glance. Her voice turned sharp as she spoke in a mocking tone, ¡°The phone card inside is new. So what if I¡¯ve used the handset before? Has a country pumpkin like you used a fruit XR ever? It¡¯s already your good luck to receive this phone.¡± Her grandfather had transferred fifteen thousand yuan to her. Obviously, she would use that money to buy a brand new phone for herself. Someone like Bai Chuwei only deserved to use her old phone. Bai Yinyin turned to leave from there. She was feeling smug for gaining fifteen thousand yuan without any effort! Her father was a useless man and could not compare with her uncle¡¯s family. Her monthly allowance was only ten thousand yuan and she had to plan her expenditure carefully, even if she wanted to buy a phone. She did not feel any remorse about snatching Bai Chuwei¡¯s new phone. It should have been hers in the first place. Just as she exited from the room, she saw the maid taking away Bai Chuwei¡¯s clothes from the laundry basket. Bai Yinyin clicked her tongue and said, ¡°As expected of a country bumpkin, her clothes are brandless. She¡¯s a poor kid.¡± The housemaid, Auntie Chen shook her head while her voice contained traces of shock. ¡°Miss, have you seen the threads of this clothing? It seems to contain gold threads and the craftsmanship is similar to the gilt brocade. It seems to radiate a faint golden light under natural sunlight. I¡¯ve seen this kind of stuff on TV. A handbag of such craftsmanship costs anywhere between thirty to forty thousand yuan. I believe that a set of clothing like this would be worth nothing less than two hundred thousand yuan!¡± Bai Yinyin¡¯s smile stiffened and her eyes widened in disbelief. ¡°How is that possible? She¡¯s just a country bumpkin!¡± Her words suddenly dried up as she came to a realization. She has just been brought back by her grandfather into the family. These clothes were probably gifted by him to her. Bai Yinyin clenched her teeth and muttered to herself. ¡°Bai Chuwei, it seems like I¡¯ve underestimated you. You¡¯ve managed to wrap my grandfather around your finger even before you entered the doors of Bai Family? Who do you think you are?¡± Bai Yinyin looked at that piece of clothing and recalled the fifteen thousand yuan in her WeChat1 wallet. All of a sudden, she felt unhappy with the sum of money which she had received. ¡°Alright then!¡± Bai Yinyin looked at the gilt brocade clothes and revealed an evil smile. She quickly turned around and fetched a small pair of scissors from her room. Chapter 8 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei and the hamster stared at the old phone inside the room and the chubby hamster squeaked sympathetically. ¡°Isn¡¯t she too stupid?¡± Bai Chuwei nodded in agreement. ¡°She¡¯s indeed quite stupid.¡± However, that was normal. In the original novel, both of them were supporting characters and their intelligence was below average. The author had deliberately lowered their IQ as to make way for the female lead to have a smooth progress. Bai Chuwei turned on the phone that had been reset to factory settings. Upon swiping it, the home screen lit up. Her slender jade-like fingers swiftly moved around the keyboard and in a matter of minutes, the phone had been restored to its previous settings. Lazily, she opened the messages to take a look. ¡°*Tsk* *Tsk* People¡¯s morals are indeed degenerating with each passing day. Bai Yinyin was indulging in ambiguous chats with several men at the same time.¡± Snowball grabbed onto Bai Chuwei¡¯s fingers and squeaked. ¡°This is called flirting in the current society!¡± Bai Chuwei suddenly saw the light and understood the concept. It has been twenty years since she left Yunwu Mountain and she was unable to keep up with the modern society. Even these hacking skills were something that she learned in passing while using a villager¡¯s phone. Just as she was pondering over it, she felt a sharp pain arising in her heart meridian and her jade-like pink cheeks suddenly turned pale. Snowball jumped around in anxiousness and continuously squeaked. Bai Chuwei held her chest and retrieved a medicine bottle from her pocket. She took out a pill from it and the medicinal fragrance assaulted her nose. She consumed it immediately and the bitter medicinal taste spread inside her mouth. The bitter taste caused her to knit her brows and say in disgust, ¡°It¡¯s so unpalatable.¡± After she ate the medicine, the piercing pain gradually eased. It was a painkiller pill made from various kinds of elixirs, used specially to relieve her affliction. Due to the system malfunction, she had been thrown back by five thousand years and was rescued by the Matriarch of the Bai Family who took her in as his godsister. That person died, saving her and therefore, Bai Chuwei had been sheltering the Bai Family for the past five thousand years. The heart meridian pain was also an old injury left behind from back then and she required various types of spiritual medicine to ease the pain. Bai Chuwei licked her lips and a cold, stern and slender figure surfaced in her mind. It was that man who sent her back to the Bai Family today. Not only was he handsome, he was also¡ a walking spiritual energy emitter. Bai Chuwei fell into deep thoughts. If she could get some spiritual energy from that man, would it mean that she need not consume such bitter medicines in the future? * The hall of the Bai Family¡¯s villa. A middle-aged man, with a dignified appearance, entered the doors and wiped the water droplets that had been splattered on his clothes. When he saw his father happily seated on a rattan chair, he couldn¡¯t help but ask. ¡°Father, why are you so happy today? I heard that my second brother has adopted a daughter? In that case, she can be considered as my niece.¡± Bai Guofu opened his eyes and shot him a cold glance. ¡°What niece? That¡¯s your ancestor from eight hundred years ago! Such impudence.¡± The eldest son Bai Hongming, ¡°¡¡± Did his father go crazy? Even so, he did not go speak up against his father and changed the topic. ¡°Father, the old man of the Duan Family seems to be on his deathbed. During these past days, he has been continuously undergoing emergency treatment in the hospital. Should our Bai Family show some sort of sincerity?¡± Bai Guofu said in a bitter tone, ¡°What use would there be of such an action? They are one of the top families in China and won¡¯t possibly care about a small family like ours.¡± The ancestor was right. The Bai Family, under his management, had become increasingly poor. However, the old man from the Duan Family was also rather pitiful. Before he had the chance to enjoy life, he was already at his deathbed. The most pitiful one would be his youngest son, Duan Feihan, who was about to lose his father at the age of twenty-four.¡± Chapter 9 Editor: Henyee Translations The Duan Family was located at Linghai in the Sea City, a large chinese styled mansion with pavilions and kiosks and enjoyed both the beauty of a garden and also sea view. At that moment, the people inside the house looked strangely nervous. *Beep-Beep* A doctor dressed in a white robe had a serious expression on his face as he said to everyone, ¡°Please prepare for the worse.¡± Their grandfather had stomach cancer and no hospital was ready to treat him any further. Fortunately, the Duan Family was wealthy and had transformed their home into a small hospital, with all types of machines and seven to eight reputable doctors on call, 24/7. Duan Xingye squatted in a corner, wailing and the expressions of the other family members were also dark and gloomy. A man, wearing a smokey-gray expensive suit, was standing in the corner with his head lowered. His entire being seemed to have blended into that space, as if his existence was unreal. Duan Feihan, with one hand tucked in his pocket, was looking at the floor and his thin lips appeared to be dry. He had stood there for more than dozens of hours without consuming a single drop of water. It seemed like his father would not be able to survive any longer. ¡°Xingye, I thought you and your Fourth Uncle went look for some miracle doctor? Where is he?¡± The middle-aged man growled. Duan Xingye shook his head and responded. ¡°That news seemed to be fake. There¡¯s no such miracle doctor there!¡± As they stood outside the room, they could hear the voices of the doctors trying to rescue the patient with all their efforts. Hurried footsteps could be heard approaching from afar. Duan Feihan¡¯s assistant came over with an uncomfortable looking middle-aged woman and said respectfully, ¡°Young master, this woman claims to have seen the miracle doctor of Yunwu Mountain. It is not a rumor.¡± Instantly, everyone¡¯s line of sight zeroed upon that middle-aged woman. Evidently, she had never been in such a situation ever and she rubbed her hands uncomfortably. ¡°If you mean the miracle doctor Bai of Yunwu Mountain, then yes, I¡¯ve indeed met her before.¡± Speaking of miracle doctor Bai, the woman¡¯s expressions relaxed visibly. She clapped her hands in excitement and said, ¡°Her medical skills are superb! Forget cancer, as long as the patient has not fully decomposed, she can save anyone.¡± ¡°However, she only treats patients depending on her mood. For poor people like us, she did not charge us anything and instead, gave us vegetables. There were some rich people who came to her doorstep to ask for help, but she would only help them depending on her mood.¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s eyebrows were tightly knitted and his imposing aura radiated all around the room. A beautiful white figure surfaced in his mind, suddenly. In a low voice, he slowly asked her. ¡°What does she look like?¡± The middle-aged woman scratched her head and said, ¡°Doctor Bai is very beautiful, and has always maintained the appearance of a young lady. She resembles a fairy.¡± Maintained the appearance of a young lady? Duan Xingye suddenly jumped and trembled in excitement. ¡°Uncle, could it be that girl who took a ride with us today? It must be her. She even mentioned that grandfather has a stomach disease!¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s eyes were shining like a torch and he saw the middle-aged woman suddenly recall something as she took out her phone. ¡°This is a phone which my son bought for me. I had no idea how to use it at that time. Hence, I went to Doctor Bai for help. There¡¯s a photo of us.¡± She then tapped on the photo gallery and an image appeared. A beautiful young lady was standing by the middle-age woman¡¯s side. Her beauty was incomparable and her deep eyes looking at the camera made it seem as if she was looking directly at him. Duan Feihan was momentarily dazed and subconsciously pursed his thin lips. Duan Xingye tightly held onto the phone and exclaimed. ¡°Oh my god, it¡¯s really the young lady who took a lift from us in the morning!¡± Duan Feihan asked with indifference. ¡°Where are the vegetables which she gifted us?¡± Vegetables? Duan Xingye was stunned for a moment and suddenly cried out. ¡°Oh no! Don¡¯t tell me the kitchen has fed those to the dogs?¡± Chapter 10 Editor: Henyee Translations Their dog was omnivorous and it could also eat vegetables. Duan Xingye dashed towards the kitchen and a short while later, sounds of crashing and bumping into things could be heard. Duan Feihan caressed the cheap mobile screen and said, ¡°Send this photo to me, and immediately locate this person.¡± His assistant nodded in response. Following this, Duan Feihan exhorted that middle-aged woman in a low voice. ¡°Don¡¯t show this photo to anyone else. Henceforth, you are forbidden to disclose any information regarding her to anyone.¡± There were traces of invisible threat in that ordinary sentence of his, and the middle-aged woman shrunk her neck as she repeatedly nodded. When Duan Feihan looked down at the smiling young lady in the photo, his expression looked a bit strange and the corner of his lips curled up, unconsciously. I didn¡¯t expect that we would get another opportunity to meet. * After resting for two days in the Bai Family, Bai Chuwei was about to enroll as a Year three student in Henghua Secondary School to officially enter the scenario. Since she had yet to receive her school uniform, she could only wear her personal clothes and report to school. Early in the morning, the sun shone gaily and radiated warmth all over the planet. Bai Chuwei wore her personal clothings while carrying a bag on her shoulder and came down to the dining room. Bai Yinyin who was seated at the table, looked at Bai Chuwei with a stunned expression. She was nearly falling from the chair. ¡°Y-you¡ your clothes?¡± Hadn¡¯t she used a pair of scissors to cut her clothes into pieces earlier? How were they intact now? It wasn¡¯t possible! Bai Chuwei¡¯s red lips curled up and she revealed a meaningful smile. ¡°What about my clothes?¡± Bai Yinyin fiercely bit her lips and quickly looked away. She did not dare to meet Bai Chuwei¡¯s eyes. She realised that it must be because she had purchased two sets of identical clothes! Dammit! Grandfather was too biased towards Bai Chuwei, this adopted bumpkin. Bai Guofu was seated in the main seat. He praised her and said, ¡°Pretty, very pretty. Ancestor, please take a seat.¡± Bai Chuwei walked to where Bai Yinyin was and leaned down to softly whisper in her ear. ¡°Since you dared to cut my clothes, you had better be careful.¡± Bai Yinyin went stiff from fright and vaguely realized that her uniform had been pulled on for a moment before she saw Bai Chuwei sitting down at the table. Instantly, she held her head high once again. So what if she got to know about this matter. She wouldn¡¯t dare to do anything, anyways! For the past few days, Bai Guofu had been staying in their villa due to Bai Chuwei¡¯s arrival. He asked Bai Chuwei in concern. ¡°Ancestor, are you sure that you wish to enroll in Year 3 of Henghua Secondary School? There are only three months before the college entrance examination starts.¡± Bai Chuwei responded in her usual calm manner. ¡°It doesn¡¯t matter.¡± Her motive for enrolling was merely to go through the scenario. Bai Yinyin smeared strawberry jam on her bread and said in an enigmatic tone, ¡°My school has very strict standards. You better not fall behind and score badly. It¡¯ll disgrace the Bai Family.¡± Bai Guofu¡¯s expression instantly turned cold. Bai Yinyin hastily lowered her head and did not dare to continue satirizing Bai Chuwei. She feared that her grandfather would give her another slap. Bai Chuwei took a few bites of the bread but then gave up as she found it dry and unappetizing. She then took a piece of napkin to wipe her mouth. Her movements seemed very elegant, which had been deep rooted in her after having lived for five thousand years. The servants cried out surprise as they witnessed her actions. ¡°Bai Yinyin, are you sure that you are giving your phone to me? Does everything inside it belong to me?¡± Bai Chuwei suddenly asked her out of the blue. Bai Yinyin was startled and hastily looked towards her grandfather. She was scared that Bai Chuwei would mention that she had given her a second-hand phone. She spoke hastily, ¡°Since I¡¯ve given it to you, then it¡¯s yours. It has nothing to do with me.¡± She suddenly had an idea and immediately complained to Bai Guofu. ¡°Grandfather, take a look at how Bai Chuwei is behaving. Isn¡¯t she too greedy? I¡¯ve given her a 256GB mobile phone worth ten thousand yuan and she¡¯s still unsatisfied!¡± Chapter 11 Editor: Henyee Translations The old man had been thrifty all his life and always felt unhappy about the extravagant expenditure in the family. If her grandfather were to hear that Bai Chuwei was unsatisfied with a mobile phone worth ten thousand yuan, he would definitely have a bad impression of her. Bai Yinyin expectantly looked at Bai Guofu and the white beard on his face slightly trembled before his eyes widened in anger. ¡°Yinyin, what¡¯s the matter with you? Since the ancestor is unsatisfied with a 256GB phone, isn¡¯t there a 512GB one in the market? Purchase the best one for her! Is fifteen thousand yuan insufficient? Will twenty grand be enough?¡± The smile on Bai Yinyin¡¯s face froze and then gradually disappeared. Had her grandfather gone crazy? Bai Yinyin felt as if something was lodged in her throat and she could not utter a single word. On the contrary, Bai Chuwei seated on the other side appeared calm and picked up her school bag as she walked outside. Bai Yinyin had also lost interest in eating breakfast any longer and she carried her bag while following Bai Chuwei¡¯s footsteps. Even though the Bai Family was not extremely affluent, they were still considered to be a powerful family in Sea City. Bai Yinyin was usually chauffeured back and forth from school. As per the new arrangement, the driver would be sending both of them together starting from today. Both girls were seated in the back seat, next to the window on each side. There was enough space between them to accommodate two more people. Bai Yinyin suddenly asked her. ¡°Which class are you in? If we¡¯re in the same class, you had better not mention that you¡¯re from the Bai Family.¡± Bai Chuwei smiled and recalled. ¡°Year 3 Class 9.¡± Bai Yinyin nearly jumped up in surprise and her voice turned sharp. ¡°Year 3 Class 9? Duan Xingye and Xu Xingchen¡¯s class? Class 9 is not a place you can enter simply if you wish for it. Did you take the entrance examination and get good grades?¡± Bai Yinyin had barely managed to enter Class 11! Bai Chuwei shook her head and responded, ¡°Nope, Bai Guofu made the arrangements.¡± When Bai Yinyin heard what she said, she started boiling in anger. Wasn¡¯t grandfather too biased towards this creature? He even went through the back door to get Bai Chuwei enrolled in Class 9! Why had she never enjoyed such preferential treatment from him? Instantly, Bai Yinyin¡¯s sense of insecurity shot through the roof and she stared at Bai Chuwei¡¯s gilt brocade clothes. She gnashed her teeth in anger. The car had already arrived in the vicinity of Henghua Secondary and students in uniform could be seen walking towards the campus, smiling and chatting. Bai Yinyin immediately told the driver to stop the car and threatened Bai Chuwei. ¡°I¡¯ll enter first, you get down five minutes later.¡± She did not want them to be seen walking together. There were numerous beautiful girls in Henghua Secondary School, but not only was Bai Chuwei beautiful, her demeanor was outstanding and ethereal. If the both of them walked together, she would definitely appear like the supporting character. Bai Chuwei revealed a look of indifference. She glanced at Bai Yinyin who hastily opened the door and walked towards the school gates. Through the window, Bai Chuwei saw some students going up to greet Bai Yinyin. ¡°Yinyin, why do you seem unhappy today?¡± Just as Bai Yinyin was thinking of ruining Bai Chuwei¡¯s reputation, she suddenly heard a loud tearing sound. Countless threads on her white uniform suddenly loosened and tore into pieces. The fallen garments included even her inner innershirt, resulting in her lace bra getting revealed in public. ¡°Ahhh! My clothes!¡± Bai Yinyin covered herself and screamed. The surrounding students were all stunned and some wretched male students even fished out their phones¡ Bai Chuwei stroked her jaw and enjoyed the scene with great interest before she checked the time and exited the car. Since Bai Yinyin was in a mess, a male student took off his sweaty, stinking jacket and draped it around her shoulders. During this turmoil, Bai Chuwei calmly walked past them. Chapter 12 Editor: Henyee Translations ¡°Oh my god, who¡¯s the girl who just walked past? Isn¡¯t she too elegant? Just like a goddess!¡± ¡°That¡¯s right, she¡¯s so beautiful. Speaking of which, I hadn¡¯t expected Bai Yinyin, who appears to be pure, would wear a sexy lace bra underneath. Tsk.¡± ¡°¡¡± The surrounding discussion caused the embarrassed Bai Yinyin to stomp her foot in anger. Why did her uniform tear for no reason? It must have been because of Bai Chuwei that b*tch, but she had no evidence of her committing the act and could only reign in her anger. * After entering the campus, Bai Chuwei went to the Year 3 head teacher¡¯s office by following the directions. Henghua Secondary School was spread across an extremely large area and the interior was also beautiful, with several small gardens. The fragrance of those flowers lingered all around the school. Bai Chuwei shook her head and sighed as she recalled that this land had been a random burial place several hundred years ago. Upon entering the office, she saw a bespectacled middle-aged man seated before his desk while preparing the lesson materials. ¡°Good morning Teacher Zhou.¡± Zhou Feng looked up and traces of astonishment flashed through his eyes when he met with Bai Chuwei¡¯s gaze. Nonetheless, he calmed down soon after and furrowed his brows when he opened the register. ¡°You must be Bai Chuwei?¡± ¡°I heard that you insisted on entering Year 3 Class 9. Thank you very much for liking my class, but Class 9 students have to undergo a great deal of stress as tests happen rather frequently here. Perhaps you will suffer a lot in terms of studies.¡± Zhou Feng tactfully advised her. He reckoned that a student who was forcefully squeezed in by the old man of Bai Family was probably not someone who had outstanding results. Bai Chuwei smiled and responded in a pleasant tone. ¡°Teacher Zhou, there¡¯s no need to worry about me. My purpose of attending school is not for my studies.¡± Zhou Feng, ¡°???¡± What? He almost thought that his ears had malfunctioned! If it¡¯s not to study, then it¡¯s because of¡ someone? Duan Xingye and Xu Xingchen of Class 9 were popular figures in Henghua Secondary School and all the girls were fond of them. Instantly, Zhou Feng¡¯s impression of Bai Chuwei went spiralling down. However, that was none of his business but Zhou Feng secretly felt that he had received a troublesome student. He then stood up with a grim expression and walked towards the classroom while asking Bai Chuwei to follow behind. Bai Chuwei spoke up, ¡°Teacher Zhou.¡± Zhou Feng furrowed his brows and gave a reminder. ¡°Student Bai, even though you¡¯re not here to focus on your studies, you cannot disturb the other students. Otherwise, I can only invite you to leave the class.¡± Bai Chuwei shook her head with a smile and said bluntly, ¡°That¡¯s not it. Teacher Zhou, I wanted to say that you¡¯re sick. You¡¯re sick in the head.¡± Zhou Feng had been angered to the extent that he smiled in fury. ¡°Student Bai, why are you cursing me?¡± Were all students like this nowadays? They did not respect teachers in the slightest and even wished them to be sick? Moreover, did Bai Chuwei think that she had X-ray eyes? What nonsense! Zhou Feng was extremely furious and said, ¡°Student Bai, it doesn¡¯t matter if you came to Class 9 not for your studies but to chase boys, you¡¡± Bai Chuwei shrugged her shoulders and interrupted him. ¡°Have you been staying up late at night and smoking frequently in recent days? In addition, are you experiencing recurring headaches? Are there times when you are unable to speak clearly? Also, do you feel like your vision has been declining?¡± It did not matter if he did not believe her, as he would come begging when something happened in the future. Zhou Feng stiffened imperceptibly. She had¡ she had hit the mark. He was a teacher of Year 3 students and his sleeping time was no more than the students as he would often stay up late to create lesson materials or grade test papers. As a result, he did not pay much attention to his health. ¡°Teacher Zhou, I¡¯ll wait for you to find me.¡± Bai Chuwei revealed a meaningful smile. Just as Zhou Feng wanted to say something, a young man ran up behind him. ¡°Teacher Zhou, I wish to apply for leave these few days, I¡?¡± The student suddenly stopped speaking. His magnetic voice suddenly became ecstatic as he said the next words, ¡°Doctor Bai, why are you here?¡± Chapter 13 Editor: Henyee Translations Duan Xingye was not having a good time these past few days after verifying the miracle doctor¡¯s existence. The men, whom his Fourth Uncle sent to Shuangbai Road, had visited every single house to search for someone named Bai Chuwei, but all of them returned without any results. They even wondered if the miracle doctor had left for the mountain again. When he saw his grandfather eating some of those vegetables with great difficulty, he did not know if it was a psychological effect or something else, but Duan Xingye felt that his grandfather¡¯s condition had become slightly better. Even so, the effect was only temporary as the main illness still existed. Therefore, they had to locate that miracle doctor real soon. He was here to ask for a few days leave to visit every single villa in the area with doctor Bai¡¯s photo to find out her whereabouts. However, who would expect him to run into her at school? Duan Xingye was instantly energized and his eyes shone in amazement. All of a sudden, wind blew across the long stretch of corridor and his clothes were blown upwards, exposing his fair skin and protruding abdominal muscles, resulting in loud female screams. Zhou Feng looked at him and asked doubtfully. ¡°Are you going to apply for leave or not?¡± Duan Xingye shook his head like a rattle drum and looked very enthusiastic suddenly. He even carried Bai Chuwei¡¯s bag and welcomed her into the class before putting down her belongings on the empty seat beside him. His enthusiasm instantly attracted the piercing gazes of the female students in class and very soon, jealousy filled the entire classroom. A female student on the chubbier side, said with a jealous tone, ¡°I thought Duan Xingye was uninterested in girls? But this female student is too beautiful and elegant. Even Duan Xingye couldn¡¯t resist her charms!¡± Another male student who was literally salivating after seeing the new student, joined the conversation. ¡°It¡¯s more like Duan Xingye struck the jackpot. She¡¯s a transfer student?¡± It turned out that the boy, Duan Xingye, who had given her a lift down the mountain was the male cannon fodder in the novel. Bai Chuwei¡¯s gaze towards Duan Xingye changed slightly before she looked at the man beside him. Xu Xingchen, the male lead of this novel. Xu Xingchen sat next to Duan Xingye, with an aisle separating the both of them. He then threw a few more glances at Bai Chuwei before revealing a smile and greeting her. ¡°Hello, I¡¯m Xu Xingchen, a good friend of Xingye.¡± Bai Chuwei gave him a meaningful smile and said, ¡°I¡¯m Bai Chuwei. Nice to meet you.¡± The male lead of the novel, Xu Xingchen would follow the heroine, Tong Qingyan from campus all the way to their entry into the society. Throughout the novel, the author had given the main couple a smooth and sweet life, while cruelly torturing the moronic female side character. Moreover, Xu Xingchen was a typical handsome and smart but miserable male lead. In fact, he was an illegitimate son of the eldest son of the Duan Family, making him Duan Xingye¡¯s half brother. After Duan Xingye¡¯s passing away, Xu Xingchen would officially enter the Duan Family at that time. Even at the time of his death, the pitiful Duan Xingye would remain unaware that his self-proclaimed best friend was in fact, his half brother, who wanted to rob his family assets. And as for Duan Feihan, the fourth son of the Duan Family, he would fight against Xu Xingchen until the very end. Duan Feihan¡¯s tall and upright figure suddenly surfaced in her mind. It seemed like the much coveted piece of meat seated on the backseat of the car that day was Duan Feihan. ¡°Doctor Bai, please have a seat!¡± Duan Xingye was extremely enthusiastic, to the extent that he used his sleeves as a rag to wipe the seat for her before inviting her to sit. ¡°Doctor Bai, my grandfather is in a much better condition because of you. Thank you so much!¡± Zhou Feng who was standing at the podium revealed a puzzled expression as he heard Duan Xingye say, ¡°Doctor?¡± Almost everyone in the school knew that Duan Xingye¡¯s grandfather was critically ill, and also the fact that the entire Duan Family was searching for a doctor who could cure his illness. Could it be that Bai Chuwei had indeed studied medicine and knew how to identify illnesses and hence had detected that he was ill as well? Impossible! Her age did not seem to align with an average doctor¡¯s age, and in addition, aspiring medical students had to attend the Medical University. He would never believe such nonsense! Zhou Feng turned grim and coughed out. ¡°That¡¯s enough! Lessons are starting, so stop talking!¡± Duan Xingye could not be bothered with the teacher as he took out a black mobile phone from his drawer and sent a message through WeChat. XingYeYeYa: [Uncle! Uncle! I found that miracle doctor! Bai Chuwei is my classmate!] A minute later, the other side replied. DuanFeiHan: [Her name is Bai Chuwei?] Duan Xingye: ??? Why was his Fourth Uncle¡¯s focus always extremely weird? Chapter 14 Editor: Henyee Translations Ritz Entertainment. President¡¯s office was located on the top floor of the office building that was tall enough to touch the clouds. A handsome young man in a smoky grey suit was seated in an expensive rotating chair, made of the highest quality leather. One of his hands was on his chin and another was holding a black-colored mobile phone. His eyes were deep and extremely focused. The assistant was secretly shocked upon witnessing that scene as he entered after knocking on the door. There were indeed times where the Heavens were unfair, such as when giving his boss an outstanding family background and impeccable appearance. He also considered himself to be fortunate enough to see such a boss everyday, whose handsomeness had overpowered all the male artists under the company. ¡°President Duan, here¡¯s your coffee.¡± Duan Feihan put down his phone. He got up and went towards the small-sized bedroom used for resting inside his office. He then opened the wardrobe where rows of expensive high-end suits were hanging. Every article of clothing there was of premium quality, and handwoven, valued at tens of thousands yuan. However, he seemed to be unsatisfied at this moment. His brows were furrowed as he mumbled to himself. ¡°Is this all?¡± The assistant hastily came inside and panicked. ¡°For the time being, these are the only clothes available inside the office for meeting important clients.¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s brows rose up slightly. ¡°There are no appropriate clothes for meeting someone of the opposite sex?¡± All of these seemed to be too formal and sombre in his eyes. The assistant: ??? Wait a minute, did he hear that wrong? M-Meet someone of the opposite sex? Did the boss mean what he was thinking? Wasn¡¯t the old man of the Duan Family critically ill? But his boss, the iron tree, was blooming during a time like this? The assistant¡¯s imagination ran wild for a moment before he noticed the sharp and chilly gaze and immediately bowed. ¡°President Duan, please rest assured. I¡¯ll head down to purchase a set of clothing at this very instant.¡± Duan Feihan returned to his desk, picked up his phone and glimpsed at the WeChat conversation with Duan Xingye. He had sent a message to Duan Xingye several minutes ago. DuanFeiHan: [I¡¯ll fetch you guys after school today.] * All the students were slightly restless after such a beautiful fairy appeared in Class 9. Furthermore, the teacher-in-charge, also seemed to be out of sorts. No one knew what he was thinking. Bai Chuwei noticed that the male students were frequently dropping their erasers, rulers and textbooks as an excuse to turn around and glimpse at her. She frowned and snapped her slender fingers, reducing her sense of presence to the lowest. Bai Chuwei had come up with a name for this self-invented skill, and called it ¡®Ignore¡¯. As expected, her classmates started treating her as invisible and obediently looked in front at the blackboard. Bai Chuwei held up her chin as she gazed out of the window, where rows of birds of all different colors had flown to where she was seated. Duan Xingye, who was the only one paying attention to her, was extremely shocked by the scene. In particular, when he saw Bai Chuwei reaching out to stroke the head of those birds. Duan Xingye: !!! Weren¡¯t all birds afraid of humans? So why were they wanting Bai Chuwei to stroke their heads? This was one weird scene! Duan Xingye honestly felt that this miracle doctor was really mysterious and he secretly whispered to her. ¡°Doctor Bai, stop playing. Zhou Feng is an extremely strict teacher.¡± He was rather playful and as a result, had been punished by Zhou Feng enough times in the past to write reflection reports. Bai Chuwei retracted her hands and smiled in response. ¡°Zhou Feng? You better worry about your preparations for the college entrance examination, instead.¡± Oh wait! Duan Xingye, this male cannon fodder would not manage to live until the college entrance examination. Duan Xingye looked towards the podium, suspiciously. Zhou Feng, who always had sharp eyes, seemed to not have noticed that they were conversing. Had he gone blind? Bai Chuwei said, ¡°Even if you were to do push ups on the floor at this moment, he wouldn¡¯t pay any attention to you.¡± He did not know if Bai Chuwei meant it as a joke, but eventually, he did not choose to behave recklessly in Zhou Feng¡¯s class. When the school bell finally rang, Zhou Feng swiftly left the classroom with the lesson materials in his hand, preparing to return to his office to write his lesson plans. Chapter 15 Editor: Henyee Translations Teacher Li, responsible for teaching Chinese, scoffed as she looked through Bai Chuwei¡¯s information on the register. The page was blank and there was no mention of her previous schools or grades. She wondered how the girl managed to sneak her way into their school. Teacher Li furrowed her brows and muttered to herself. ¡°Could it be that her results are so lackluster that she did not want to bring that information along? I¡¯d like to see what kind of troublemaker this new student is!¡± In fact, she was a little anxious. If Bai Chuwei was a bad student, she might end up having her bonus deducted because of her. Just then, Teacher Li saw Zhou Feng returning to his desk and opened her mouth to say hello. However, the files in Zhou Feng¡¯s hands dropped at that moment and he collapsed. ¡°Teacher Zhou, what¡¯s wrong? Please wake up! Someone help, please!¡± * After the lesson ended, the students in class had all enthusiastically started a conversation with Bai Chuwei. All of a sudden, a tall and handsome figure entered from outside while holding a large pile of new books and placed it by Bai Chuwei¡¯s feet. He wiped the sweat on his forehead and said with a smile, ¡°Student Bai, these are the new books I collected on your behalf. I hope that you can integrate into our class as soon as possible.¡± This person was¡ Xu Xingchen The surrounding female students shrieked in excitement. A handsome and gentlemanly man was someone they admired the most! Bai Chuwei revealed a polite smile on her beautiful face. Based on her memories of the original novel, the original owner entered Henghua Secondary School as an adopted daughter. She had no parents to care for her since childhood and her foster parents were not exactly kind. As a result, the male lead¡¯s actions had instantly won her favor and affection. Unfortunately, Xu Xingchen¡¯s motive was only to maintain his image of a kind and warmhearted person in front of the students. Moreover, he did not see them as his classmates, but instead, as his future network of contacts. Therefore, the students at present were merely the male lead¡¯s tools. Bai Chuwei calmly thanked him in response to his help. The smile on Xu Xingchen¡¯s face stiffened slightly. He had not expected Bai Chuwei to be so aloof. Neither did she show any surprise nor did she blush like any normal girl would do in a situation like this. Bai Chuwei casually flipped through the Chinese textbook which she had picked up and her expression suddenly turned strange. She then commented in an absent-minded way. ¡°I hadn¡¯t expected students these days to memorize the poems that I wrote in the past.¡± Duan Xingye had an astonished expression on his face and he stretched his neck to take a look. ¡°Huh? You wrote this ¡®Mountain Temple Paradise¡¯?¡± Bai Chuwei nodded. She had lived for five thousand years and people in the olden days were fond of writing poems and lyrics. As a result, she had also written some, but who would have known that a poem she casually wrote, had become an essential text for students to know¡ A tall girl with a ponytail, sneered and said, ¡°Ha. Nowadays, people don¡¯t even need to prepare a draft before they brag. This widely recognized poem has now become yours? Why don¡¯t you claim to know Li Dabai, as well?¡± Bai Chuwei recalled the past and nodded in acknowledgement. ¡°I do know him. We were friends in the past.¡± He always loved to pull her along to drink and write poems once they were drunk. Everyone else: ¡ Everyone else: ¡ Could it be that their new classmate had the Eighth-Grader Syndrome? The girl in the ponytail revealed a disgusted gaze and internally scolded Bai Chuwei to be an idiot. She couldn¡¯t help but ridicule her. ¡°Tsk, that¡¯s enough. You might as well say that the classic1 ¡®Memory of the Mountain Moonlight¡¯ was written by you? Bai Chuwei quirked her brows and flipped the textbook to the last few pages. She was honestly stunned. She had not descended the mountains for mere twenty years, but people nowadays were regarding the eunuch novel that she randomly wrote two hundred years ago, as a top-ranked classic? It was now a must-read classic in the country?? Chapter 16 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei¡¯s expression seemed rather complicated. However, as a person who had lived for more than five thousand years, she recovered her usual calmness very soon. Duan Xingye paid no heed to Bai Chuwei¡¯s Eighth-Grader Syndrome and even said politely, ¡°Doctor Bai, can you save my grandfather? Money is not a problem.¡± Bai Chuwei maintained her calm and composed look. ¡°The wealth of ten families like Duan Family added together is less than half of my combined wealth.¡± The wealth she had accumulated over the past thousands of years was truly incomparable to the normal people. Everyone: ¡ As expected, she has Eighth-Grader Syndrome. What kind of family was the Duan Family? A rich and powerful family with hundreds of years of background! The most influential families in China were the eight aristocratic families, and it was said that they were once servants of a certain powerful figure. They had been supported right up to the top of the food chain, but Duan Family was an oddity among them. They had relied on their capability to expand to their current standing. Moreover, under the magnificent management of Duan Family¡¯s fourth son, there were subtle signs of them pushing the eight aristocratic families under their feet! However, Bai Chuwei was looking down on that Duan Family? Did she have a screw loose? The surrounding students levelled their gazes of ridicule on her. Wasn¡¯t a good looking girl without brains simply a vase? Even though Duan Xingye was speechless, he still implored. ¡°Doctor Bai, as long as you can save my family, the Duan Family can agree to anything!¡± A tall and slender figure suddenly surfaced in her mind and she subconsciously smirked. ¡°Can I ask for a person?¡± A person? Before Duan Xingye had a chance to respond, a rather irritating and sharp female voice spoke up in an enigmatic tone, ¡°The school is not a marketplace. For those female students who come to school looking for romance, please do not lead the other students astray.¡± Bai Chuwei looked up at their Chinese teacher, a woman with light makeup, who seemed to be in her thirties and said, ¡°You¡¯re also sick.¡± Li Juan¡¯s complexion instantly turned green. ¡°Y-you dare to insult a teacher?¡± The students around her were shocked. Bai Chuwei was indeed a courageous person. She even dared to offend Teacher Li, who was well-known for being really strict with students? Bai Chuwei responded in a calm tone. ¡°It¡¯s a fact.¡± She then gently rubbed the space in between her brows as she wondered about the lifestyle of people for the past two decades. It seemed that each and every one of them was more or less ill. Li Juan immediately wanted to chase her out, but she recalled that this student had been personally sent in by the Bai Family. If she drove her out, wouldn¡¯t it be equivalent to giving the old man a slap? She looked at Bai Chuwei¡¯s tender and smooth face before gritting her teeth. Then, she said in a furious voice, ¡°We won¡¯t be discussing lessons today. Prepare for a test!¡± The whole class howled and there were some who looked at Bai Chuwei, resentfully. A language test was different from other subjects as they had to write a large chunk of words, and their hands would ache. This new classmate of theirs was a disaster! Bai Chuwei was rather interested in the modern examination. However, her brows were tightly knitted after she went through the papers. Why did it test her on the poems which she wrote, and in addition, she had to analyze the meaning behind each word? From her memory, she had not thought so deeply back then when she wrote those poems, but these groups of descendants had come up with so much logic on her behalf? * The news of Bai Chuwei¡¯s appearance in school and the morning debacle of Bai Yinyin¡¯s clothes getting torn along with the reveal of her sexy undergarments, had been spreading rampantly across the school forums. Bai Chuwei glanced at the used phone in her bag and thought that she should purchase a new one instead. ¡°Doctor Bai, can you please take a look at my grandfather?¡± Bai Chuwei left the school compound without turning back. ¡°I¡¯m busy, I¡¯ll check him another day.¡± Duan Xingye nearly cried out. She could wait, but his grandfather couldn¡¯t. He then ran up to her and said, ¡°Please don¡¯t leave, my Fourth Uncle is making his way here.¡± Bai Chuwei¡¯s footsteps paused and suddenly turned around as her eyes faintly glowed. ¡°You mean, that walking piece of Tang Monk¡¯s flesh1 is coming?¡± Chapter 17 Editor: Henyee Translations Just as Bai Chuwei said that, a sleek black car steadily stopped by her side. The impeccable-looking man seated inside frowned and his gaze on Bai Chuwei contained a wisp of doubt. Why¡ did she call him Tang Monk¡¯s flesh yet again? The evening sunlight shone through the car¡¯s window, making Duan Feihan look increasingly handsome. His facial features appeared noble, causing passers-by to suck in cold air. ¡°Uncle, you¡¯re finally here. Doctor Bai doesn¡¯t wish to check up on grandfather¡¯s illness.¡± Duan Xingye went over and complained. The door opened and a pair of slender long legs came out first, followed by his tall upper body, and almost every single frame could be used as a screensaver. Duan Feihan¡¯s slender fingers straightened his cuffs and he stared at the petite Bai Chuwei who was giving off an outstanding demeanor. ¡°Miss Bai, my father is gravely ill. Regardless of the price, I earnestly request you to treat his illness.¡± Bai Chuwei had an indiscernible expression on her face as she said, ¡°Regardless of the price?¡± Her gaze was currently sizing up the man. As expected of a man that the female lead, Tong Qingyan, pursued but failed to acquire, he was so handsome to the point that he was flawless. In the original novel, the man whom the female lead initially liked was the Duan Family¡¯s fourth young master, Duan Feihan. But, he was a workaholic who only loved his career and turned a blind eye to Tong Qingyan¡¯s adoration. As a result, she was emotionally hurt due to dejection and thus, turned to the male lead¡¯s embrace and they worked together to deal with Duan Feihan. Duan Feihan wore an indiscernible expression and his low, yet magnetic voice slowly replied. ¡°What price does Miss Bai wish to ask of me?¡± Duan Xingye was confused as he sensed the weird atmosphere. What were they talking about? Bai Chuwei¡¯s fingernails gently scraped her chin and she smiled suddenly. ¡°Let¡¯s go. We¡¯ll talk about it after I look at the patient.¡± She agreed! Moreover, they had yet to even talk about the remuneration. True to the rumors, she was very moody. His fourth uncle personally opened the door for Bai Chuwei, and Duan Xingye wondered if it was due to the respect he had for her. Bai Chuwei did not even blink as she accepted the gesture, matter of factly and sat in the back seat. Duan Xingye was about to follow suit, but was suddenly kicked on his ankles. Duan Feihan¡¯s chilly voice sounded in his ear. ¡°Sit in the front.¡± Duan Xingye: ?? Huh? He had to sit in the front again? Duan Xingye could never disobey his fourth uncle, so he did as asked, in a resigned manner. Duan Feihan made his way into the car and the faint traces of spiritual energy leaked out from the Buddha bracelet on his hand. Bai Chuwei took in a deep breath and could not help but say, ¡°You smell so good.¡± Duan Feihan: ¡ He disliked using perfume, so how in the world would he smell good? Duan Xingye, seated in front, suddenly realised something and asked. ¡°Fourth Uncle, did you meet with an important client today?¡± His uncle was dressed rather sharply, as if it had been specially prepared. Duan Feihan glanced at Bai Chuwei. Her expression was normal, not bothering to notice whether he was dressed differently compared to the previous time, in the mountains. He then lowered his head and said faintly, ¡°No.¡± Duan Xingye scratched his head in doubt. Was that right? His Fourth Uncle usually didn¡¯t behave like this! The black car slowly drove away from the school entrance and passed by a white car. Bai Yinyin seated in the white car rubbed her eyes and suspected if she had seen wrongly. She seemed to have witnessed Bai Chuwei seated in that car. Didn¡¯t that car belong to the Duan Family? Bai Chuwei, that country bumpkin was acquainted with the Duan Family? What nonsense! Soon enough, Bai Chuwei¡¯s phone rang from within her bag. Chapter 18 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei opened her backpack that contained nothing except for the lone phone inside. This was the second hand phone which Bai Yinyin had passed to her. Even though she had lived for five thousands years and gave no heed to materialistic things, she did not like using previously-owned items. She furrowed her brows and picked up the call. Before she could even open her mouth to speak, the other party started scolding her like a machine gun. ¡°Bai Chuwei, where th f*ck are you? You can walk home by yourself if you don¡¯t come to the car right this instant!¡± If not for the fear that her grandfather would hit her, Bai Yinyin would have abandoned her and left by now. Bai Chuwei replied calmly. ¡°I have something on today.¡± Bai Yinyin became increasingly suspicious. That person in the black car couldn¡¯t really be Bai Chuwei, right? How was that possible? She was only a country bumpkin who had come down the mountains recently. Bai Yinyin told herself that she must have seen it wrongly? She crossed her arms and scoffed. ¡°You¡¯ve only arrived at Sea City and you¡¯re already roaming around. Bai Chuwei, if you are going to mess around with men, you had better not disgrace our Bai Family in the process!¡± Bai Chuwei appeared indifferent and responded. ¡°Qi Tian, Cui Enze, Lu Hailiang, Di Zongping¡¡± In fact, who was the one messing with men? Duan Feihan seated on the other side wore an obscure expression. These seemed to be men¡¯s names¡ On the other end of the line, Bai Yinyin¡¯s expression drastically changed and she was shocked. These were all the men whom she had been texting at the same time recently, but how did Bai Chuwei get to know about it? ¡°You¡ you¡,¡± Bai Yinyin was instantly deflated and she hastily hung up. Bai Chuwei glanced at the disconnected call and chuckled. She had lived for more than five thousand years. How could she lose to a brat like Bai Yinyin? Duan Xingye asked in surprise. ¡°Aren¡¯t these the second generation rich kids from our school? How does Doctor Bai know of them?¡± Bai Chuwei¡¯s red lips curled up. ¡°It¡¯s a secret.¡± Duan Xingye instantly blushed due to Bai Chuwei¡¯s beautiful and provocative looks. He hastily turned around and looked straight. However, the temperature in the car seemed to have dropped suddenly. When Duan Feihan saw that Bai Chuwei was about to put her phone back inside, he asked her politely. ¡°Miss Bai, to be able to reach you, can you give me your contact information?¡± His behavior appeared to be due to his father¡¯s illness and nothing could be said against it. ¡°There¡¯s no contact information to give. I do not have a phone.¡± The three people including the driver inside the car: ¡ She didn¡¯t have a phone? Then what did she use to speak with someone on the line just a moment ago? She was blatantly bullsh*tting without batting an eyelid! Duan Feihan¡¯s slender fingers inter-crossed and he said softly, ¡°Then I¡¯ll get a new phone for Miss Bai later.¡± Bai Chuwei raised her brow and looked at Duan Feihan in surprise. She felt that this cold-looking man seemed to be somewhat over-enthusiastic. She reckoned it was most probably due to his gravely ill father. It was similar to how Duan Xingye had approached her for his grandfather. In the end, Bai Chuwei did not respond to his comment. While the car was driving towards the Duan Family¡¯s villa, Duan Xingye asked her with worry in his voice. ¡°Doctor Bai, although it¡¯s presumptuous to ask, but can you cure cancer? My grandfather has stomach cancer.¡± Bai Chuwei fluttered her eyelids and said in a lazy voice, ¡°One, if he¡¯s not dead yet, two, it depends upon my mood.¡± Even though the way she spoke was infuriating, it was normal for experts to have some sort of eccentricity. Duan Xingye consoled himself and asked again. ¡°Then how did you know my grandfather had a stomach disease previously? Bai Chuwei¡¯s lips curled and she smiled mysteriously. ¡°Through calculations.¡± Duan Xingye: !!! Duan Xingye: ??? Huh? Through calculations? Wasn¡¯t she a miraculous doctor? Why did she suddenly change her profession to turn into a divinator? Was this considered holding multiple jobs at one time? At that moment, the questions in his mind multiplied and he could not help but ask again. ¡°But¡¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s chilly voice suddenly arose in the car. ¡°You talk too much.¡± Chapter 19 Editor: Henyee Translations Duan Xingye felt indignant. ¡°Uncle, I only wanted to know a bit more about Doctor Bai.¡± When did he become talkative? He spoke the same as always and had never heard his Fourth Uncle bringing this issue up, ever before. Towards the silly male cannon fodder, who was nearing his deathbed, Bai Chuwei felt a bit more lenient and smiled as she answered. ¡°We are deskmates. There¡¯s no need to call me Doctor Bai. You can call me by my name.¡± Duan Xingye did not even have the slightest hint of hesitation and immediately called out. ¡°Weiwei!¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s eyes darkened visibly. Bai Chu Wei: ¡ Wow, he¡¯s good at taking a mile when given an inch. Weiwei? Everyone else was fearful of her and called her ancestor out of respect. Who in the world would dare to directly address her by her name? However, many years ago, there was someone who used to scream his lungs out, calling her name as well. However, that never happened again in the future. Bai Chuwei¡¯s heart meridian suddenly throbbed with pain and the faint spiritual energy the man radiated, entered her nose. Instantly, she felt alive once again. Breathing in the spiritual energy which he gave out was much more effective than consuming those piles of bitter spiritual medicine! Duan Feihan noticed Bai Chuwei¡¯s slight change in features and asked in a low voice. ¡°Miss Bai, what¡¯s wrong?¡± Bai Chuwei wore a strange expression on her face. Could it be that Duan Feihan had managed to notice that she was in pain? This Tang Monk was indeed worthy of his reputation and was extremely sensitive to his surroundings. Bai Chuwei shook her head, then turned to look outside the window. Her satin-like ink black hair swept across Duan Feihan¡¯s wide shoulders. The Duan Family was located in the forest of the southern side of Sea City. It¡¯s exterior resembled ancient Chinese style, with mountains on one side and rivers on the other. The construction standards could be said to be at the peak of ancient landscapes. Bai Chuwei¡¯s delicate eyebrows gradually started frowning, it felt as if the road was¡ inexplicably familiar. She had lived for five thousands years and her brain had stored too many memories. Could it be that she was mistaken about this? As the car entered the Duan Family¡¯s courtyard, a vast rockery could be seen. Bai Chuwei thought that if the Duan Family¡¯s residence was used to film an ancient costume drama, it would be extremely fitting. Duan Feihan immediately stepped out when the car stopped and just as one of his feet was outside, he saw Duan Xingye getting down from the front passenger seat and enthusiastically opened the door for Bai Chuwei. He even carried her bag on her behalf. His expression immediately darkened. He had never realized that this nephew of his would be so warmhearted towards females. Before Bai Chuwei was invited to enter, a beautiful figure stepped out. She was dressed in Henghua Secondary School¡¯s uniform. A white shirt and a plaid skirt revealed her slender, and white, long legs, making her look nothing less than a pure campus goddess. This was the female lead of the novel, Tong Qingyan. Since it was a sweet and indulgent novel, beautiful looks and good family background was the standard setting for a female lead. Tong Qingyan was a little princess born with a golden spoon and was secretly in love with the fourth young master of the Duan Family. Oh that¡¯s right, the man standing beside her would be the future villain of the novel. Tong Qingyan¡¯s eyes sized up Bai Chuwei¡¯s appearance as she stepped out of the car. For someone who had always been proud of her looks, she could not find the slightest sense of superiority in front of Bai Chuwei. Not only that, her demeanor was also incomparable. It was widely known that Duan Feihan never allowed any females inside his personal car and she had been no exception to this rule. However, she clearly saw this girl coming out of his car! Tong Qingyan was slightly nervous, but still managed to maintain a normal smile as she said, ¡°Fourth young master, Xingye, you just returned? I came to visit your grandfather and I was just about to leave.¡± Duan Feihan had an indifferent expression on his face and he nodded slightly. This was considered as his acknowledgement to her presence. Tong Qingyan was disappointed. She knew that he had never shown any warmth towards her and the reason why they were still in contact was merely because her aunt was about to marry into the Duan Family. Her gaze then landed on Bai Chuwei and she asked in a seemingly casual way. ¡°I wonder who is this lady here?¡± Chapter 20 Editor: Henyee Translations ¡°Bai Chuwei.¡± Tong Qingyan frowned. ¡°Bai Chuwei? The one from our school?¡± The transfer student who just arrived and was extremely famous on the school forums on her first day? It was said that she had the eighth-grade syndrome. She loved to lie and brag, and had even declared that Teacher Li was sick in front of all the students. It might be due to the numerous ¡®bad news¡¯ related to her on her first day of school or perhaps because of a sense of crisis that she felt, but Tong Qingyan did not have a favourable impression about her. Bai Chuwei looked at the female lead with great interest. All of a sudden, her lips curled up and she asked. ¡°How are you related to Chen Meihua?¡± Tong Qingyan¡¯s expression turned chilly. ¡°Chen Meihua is my grandmother who passed away ten years ago. Student Bai, how can you directly call out my grandmother¡¯s name?¡± So unmannered of her! Moreover, how did she get to know her grandmother¡¯s name? Bai Chuwei shook her head and sighed. If she knew that Chen Meihua¡¯s future granddaughter was Tong Qingyan, the female lead, she would not have helped her in the past. Forty years ago, she happened to help a middle-aged woman, who had been abducted and sold to the mountain area for ten years. She had suffered from domestic abuse day and night before she managed to escape with great difficulty. Bai Chuwei found her to be pitiful and had offered shelter. Who knew that her granddaughter would be the female lead of this novel? Bai Chuwei felt that she had made a mistake and should have exhorted more from her back then. She lost all her interest in the topic and did not wish to acknowledge Tong Qingyan any longer. She lazily asked. ¡°Where¡¯s the patient?¡± Duan Xingye hastily answered her. ¡°My grandfather is in the backyard. Weiwei, I¡¯ll lead you there.¡± Tong Qingyan looked at Bai Chuwei¡¯s departing view and could not help but bite her lips. No one had ever dared to ignore her or impolitely call out her grandmother¡¯s name like this. She looked at Duan Feihan and complained in a whiny tone. ¡°Fourth young master, she¡¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s cold voice cut her off. ¡°She¡¯s my esteemed guest.¡± Tong Qingyan was dumbfounded. Esteemed guest? Why was Bai Chuwei an esteemed guest whom Duan Feihan personally brought along? Just as she wanted to ask further, he turned around and took long strides in the direction that Bai Chuwei had walked towards. As Tong Qingyan stood rooted on the spot, she began to feel extremely uneasy. * Bai Chuwei followed Duan Xingye and walked through the small garden. She passed by the rockery where the flowers were blooming and gave off a pleasant fragrance. She then looked around the surroundings and her expression became increasingly odd, while Duan Xingye looked rather excited. Bai Chuwei frowned and asked him. ¡°Your family has always been staying here, or did you move here recently?¡± Duan Xingye had no idea why Bai Chuwei asked that question. But he answered in a casual tone. ¡°From the moment I was born, I¡¯ve always stayed here.¡± Bai Chuwei¡¯s expression instantly darkened. By now, they had arrived at the backyard where the Duan Family¡¯s old man was staying. There were bodyguards and anxious doctors in the yard, along with a faint smell of medicine and disinfectants in the air. The bedroom door was open and she took a glimpse inside. She could vaguely see a white-haired old man with a sallow complexion, and it was evident that he did not have much time left. Bai Chuwei¡¯s palm-sized face instantly turned black. ¡°I won¡¯t treat this illness.¡± Bai Chuwei uttered these words coldly and retraced her steps. Duan Xingye: ??? ¡°Weiwei, Doctor Bai, where are you heading? Why won¡¯t you treat my grandfather? Please don¡¯t leave.¡± Duan Xingye hastily chased after her. However, Bai Chuwei was unexpectedly fast, to the extent that he suspected she had participated in running competitions in the past. In the end, Duan Xingye was unable to catch up with her. A tall figure suddenly appeared before her and blocked her path. His magnetic voice slowly sounded from above her head. ¡°Miss Bai, why are you leaving all of a sudden?¡± Chapter 21 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei¡¯s expression was extremely cold. ¡°I do not wish to treat this illness. Go find someone else.¡± Duan Xingye, who had finally managed to catch up to her, nearly cried. Hadn¡¯t they agreed upon it earlier? Why did she suddenly renege on their agreement? His grandfather was unable to hold on any longer! Duan Feihan was someone who had experienced great storms and waves in his professional life, and managed to sweep everyone away successfully. He didn¡¯t get perturbed by this sudden change and asked her in a calm expression. ¡°Miss Bai, can I know the reason behind your decision?¡± Bai Chuwei snorted. ¡°I am in a bad mood.¡± It was no wonder why she found Duan Feihan to be familiar. They had met in the past! Duan Feihan maintained his composure and plucked the sandalwood beads on his left wrist. His low voice, similar to the highest quality cello, sounded next to her ear. ¡°Then, how can I make Miss Bai feel better?¡± Bai Chuwei could not discern if it was intentional or not, but his words felt inexplicably tempting. Duan Xingye interrupted Bai Chuwei¡¯s thoughts as he said, ¡°Why? Why are you in a bad mood after you saw my grandfather?¡± He suddenly became frightened and speculated. ¡°Did my grandfather do something unfair to you?¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s eyes darkened slightly and he chided his nephew in a low voice. ¡°Duan Xingye, watch what you say.¡± Duan Xingye repeatedly slapped his mouth when he realised that his words sounded as if he was tarnishing her reputation. Just as he wanted to apologize, he saw Bai Chuwei in deep thoughts and she said, ¡°Indeed, you can say that your grandfather has done something extremely unfair to me.¡± Duan Xingye was dumbstruck. Oh my god? His grandfather has always been a serious person and he disliked rich second generation people who bullied the poor by relying on their family background. He had always brought him up to be an upright man! Bai Chuwei had no intention to explain the meaning behind her words and looked at Duan Feihan with a nostalgic look before she said indifferently, ¡°I won¡¯t treat this illness, and you don¡¯t have to send me out, I¡¯ll find the way myself.¡± Duan Xingye panicked for a moment and looked at Bai Chuwei¡¯s departing figure. He anxiously pulled on Duan Feihan¡¯s sleeves and said, ¡°Uncle, do you have any idea about how to convince her? What should we do now!¡± He did not expect such a sudden change of event after they had invited her to their house. Duan Feihan was in deep thought and just as he was about to speak, an immortal-like man with a dignified appearance appeared in front of them and shot a glance at Bai Chuwei. His aged voice that contained traces of disdain said, ¡°If your medical skills are lacking, you should admit it honestly. Why pretend that the Duan Family has done something wrong to you?¡± He was an old man with a faint medical fragrance around him. He had a headful of white hair and grizzled goatee, but he didn¡¯t have the kindness of an older senior. Instead, he appeared arrogant. The servants passing by were all shocked. ¡°Is he the almighty figure in the medical industry, senior Liu, Liu Zhen? Oh my god, I¡¯ve heard that he has successfully cured cancer patients in the past!¡± One of the middle-aged bodyguards spoke up in envy, ¡°I think he is the magnate of the medical industry, senior Liu. He is a renowned character who has been on the news broadcast enough times! But I thought he had retired and no longer treated patients. Also, he is a hundred and twenty years old, but still looks so spirited. He is a prime example of a well maintained old man. I heard that it was Miss Tong who had personally visited him on multiple occasions to invite him on behalf of the family head!¡± Bai Chuwei looked at the old man standing before her with an indiscernible smile. ¡°My medical skills are lacking?¡± She was someone who had accompanied the Farmer God1, planted hundred thousands of spiritual medicine, and also cured millions of people suffering from various diseases. Forget the current doctors in the world, all the famous doctors recorded in the Chinese history for the past two thousand years, would have to respectfully call her ancestor1! Liu Zhen¡¯s gaze scornfully swept across Bai Chuwei. ¡°Little brat, how could you possibly know any medical skills at your age, not to mention saving someone?¡± Bai Chuwei answered indifferently. ¡°Go back and ask your teacher if he dares to stand and speak to me in that tone.¡± Chapter 22 Editor: Henyee Translations Liu Zhen believed his medical skills to be superb and was rather proud of himself. Nonetheless, the person he respected the most was his deceased teacher. But Bai Weiwei¡¯s tone was full of indifference. ¡°Tonight, I shall let your teacher teach you what it is called having respect for teachers! Liu Zhen turned red from anger and rebuked her harshly. ¡°Little brat, don¡¯t you dare insult my teacher. He passed away decades ago!¡± Bai Chuwei gave him a meaningful smile and said, ¡°Don¡¯t worry. I¡¯ll let him look for you tonight.¡± Liu Zhen became angry to the point that he wanted to leave at once, but the Duan Family¡¯s bodyguards blocked his way and appeased him. ¡°Old Liu, don¡¯t be angry because of this insensible child¡¯s words. Just treat it as giving our third young master and Miss Tong some face. Miss Tong is currently on set with the third young master and they will return really soon.¡± The Miss Tong whom he was referring to was not Tong Qingyan, but instead, her aunt, Tong Yunrou. Liu Zhen¡¯s complexion improved greatly upon hearing this and he glanced coldly at Bai Chuwei before leaving for the old man Duan¡¯s courtyard. Bai Chuwei regarded it as a small interruption and shrugged it off. Just as she wanted to leave, Duan Xingye blocked her path again. ¡°Weiwei, please don¡¯t go. My grandfather can¡¯t hold on any longer¡ Are you in a bad mood? Then¡ I¡¯ll perform for you, alright? How about mimicking a cat1?¡± His handsome face turned red. In fact, he was embarrassed to perform such a mentally retarded song in the public, but it seems to be rather popular these days. Right when he was about to start, he noticed a deep, chilly gaze on him and he trembled in fear. Why was his fourth uncle looking at him like that? Duan Feihan stared at Bai Chuwei and slowly spoke in a voice which was similar to the spring water that meandered down. ¡°Miss Bai, although I am clueless about your sudden bad mood, but if you manage to treat my father, other than the consultation fee, I can unconditionally agree to one of your requests as long as it does not violate the laws.¡± All the surrounding servants gasped and looked at Duan Feihan in disbelief. The successor of a century old aristocratic family unconditionally accepted a blank request from a stranger!! The meaning behind this was inconceivable. There was a female servant who could not help but imagine. What if Miss Bai asked to become the wife of the fourth young master, would he agree to it? Duan Xingye looked from one to another for quite some time and felt that his fourth uncle¡¯s promise was much more powerful in comparison¡ Bai Chuwei was also stunned. Her eyebrows raised in interest and suddenly, she put her hands on Duan Feihan¡¯s shoulders. Her slender and white fingers, similar to scallions, gently brushed across his broad shoulders. The man stiffened momentarily which didn¡¯t escape Bai Chuwei¡¯s notice. She looked at the man¡¯s serious phoenix-like eyes before standing on her tiptoes near him. She teased him by whispering in his ears. ¡°You were the one who offered.¡± Bai Chuwei¡¯s eyes kindled with joy and she turned around to walk towards the old man Duan¡¯s small courtyard. Duan Xingye looked at Duan Feihan with a complicated gaze. ¡°Uncle, I didn¡¯t expect that the love between you father and son is so deep.¡± Duan Feihan was indeed the youngest son of old man Duan, but he had always maintained a cold and indifferent temperament since a young age, thus his relationship with his family was rather thin. Hence, he did not expect his fourth uncle to be willing to sacrifice his body for grandfather! Duan Feihan had no intentions of acknowledging his words, and he bypassed Duan Xingye to keep up with Bai Chuwei¡¯s footsteps. The moment she entered the place, she saw Liu Zhen seated by the bed, checking the old man¡¯s pulse. Bai Chuwei stood on one side as she watched the scene in front of her with great interest. Liu Zhen retracted his hands as the butler asked hastily. ¡°Old Liu, is there any hope?¡± He touched his beard and glanced at Bai Chuwei before speaking in a deep voice. ¡°Yes, with my treatment, old man Duan can live for another two years.¡± The moment he said that, everyone was overjoyed. The old man Duan was someone who had been declared as good as dead by the hospitals and doctors across, already. Chapter 23 Editor: Henyee Translations Under these circumstances, it was considered a blessing for the old man to live for another two years. Liu Zhen took out inch-long silver needles from the medical box and undressed the old man Duan¡¯s clothes before he carefully inserted the needles into his flesh. Bai Chuwei shook her head as she spectated his movements. Chinese medicine had prevailed for five thousand years but she had not expected that the standard would fall to such an extent in the last couple of centuries. Old man Duan¡¯s body suddenly convulsed and everyone looked on in nervousness. Liu Zhen said with indifference, ¡°No worries.¡± Just as he said that, the sick old man vomited yellowish fluids that carried traces of blood. He even coughed out air. However, no oxygen entered inside his body and that was a sign indicating his death. Everyone started to panic. They had witnessed old man Duan¡¯s condition turning for the better after he consumed those vegetables earlier but now, he had vomited them out. Moreover, there were some family members who had yet to return and if old man Duan were to pass away at that moment, the third young master and others would not manage to see him for the last time! Duan Xingye blew up in anger. ¡°Quack doctor, what have you done to my grandfather?¡± Liu Zhen¡¯s expression turned grim and he looked towards them in doubt. In a harsh voice, he said, ¡°What has old man Duan consumed before this?¡± The butler thought for a moment and then said, ¡°Old man Duan consumed a few bites of vegetables a few days ago. They were gifted by this lady here.¡± Everyone¡¯s gaze landed on Bai Chuwei. Bai Chuwei found it funny and glanced at Liu Zhen in passing. She did not expect that his inadequate skills would be blamed on her. She walked over and kicked him aside. A few seconds later, she said in an impolite tone, ¡°Get away from here. You are such a disgrace!¡± Liu Zhen staggered from the kick and nearly fell to the ground. His aged face turned red in anger and he was about to criticize her. But he froze. Bai Chuwei had taken out a piece of acupuncture cloth embroidered in black bamboo pattern from her bag and was rolling it out gently. Her slender white fingers took out several needles from it skillfully. Her technique was extremely nimble, inserting each needle inserted into the flesh in a flowing movement. She infused small amounts of spiritual energy into the silver needles and old man Duan¡¯s breathing slowed down at a speed visible to the naked eye while his pale complexion gradually improved. Liu Zhen¡¯s expression was slowly turning strange, up until Bai Chuwei took out a three-inch long silver needle from her acupuncture cloth. At this moment, his muddled eyes seemed to have seen a ghost. The needle was steadily inserted into old man Duan¡¯s chest in a single stab. Liu Zhen¡¯s lips trembled. ¡°The Spiritual Thirteen Needles? How are you versed in this technique? N-No¡ at your current age, how could you manage inserting thirteen needles in one go?¡± The Spiritual Thirteen Needles, which his teacher had passed down to him, required the use of his inner spiritual energy to execute them. Even though he had studied medicine for several decades, his limit was merely at the ninth needle, and his teacher had been only capable of ten! He had never seen someone execute the entire technique in one go! Bai Chuwei shot him a glance and said coldly, ¡°This is a technique that I invented.¡± So, how could she not be well versed in it? Liu Zhen nearly cried out. ¡°Ridiculous! Such a ridiculous remark! This needle technique has been passed down for nearly four thousand years!¡± Bai Chuwei paid him no heed and reached out to wipe her sweat. All of a sudden, a long and slender hand extended towards her. Duan Feihan passed her a light grey colored handkerchief, which held a faint fragrance. Bai Chuwei looked up and met Duan Feihan¡¯s deep eyes. She smiled and thanked him before taking the handkerchief from him to wipe her sweat. Suddenly, her smile stiffened and her cold eyes looked towards the door. The butler was holding the phone and he said after a moment, ¡°The third young master has arrived along with Miss Tong. They are maki their way here, now.¡± Chapter 24 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei lowered her eyes and swiftly packed up her belongings. Duan Xingye had not noticed Bai Chuwei¡¯s movements yet as he was focused on his grandfather¡¯s smoother breathing and improving complexion. He rejoiced quietly and turned to look at Bai Chuwei. ¡°Weiwei, thank you so much! My third uncle will be here soon. Are you interested in celebrities? My third uncle, Duan Xiuqi is a popular actor. Do you want his signature?¡± Bai Chuwei smiled superficially and replied in a cold voice. ¡°I don¡¯t want his signature, but I am rather interested in his death.¡± With that, Bai Chuwei picked up her bag and walked out of the bedroom. A thought flashed in Duan Feihan¡¯s mind and his long legs chased after Bai Chuwei¡¯s footsteps. Bai Chuwei looked straight ahead and said, ¡°Mr. Duan, your father¡¯s illness is not something that can be cured with a few needles. I¡¯ll write a prescription and have Duan Xingye bring it over. I¡¯ll be going back now.¡± All of a sudden, a powerful, large hand grabbed her wrist. When she turned to look at him, Duan Feihan loosened his grip. Their eyes clashed and he said, ¡°Miss Bai, I¡¯ll send you back.¡± Duan Feihan fished out his car keys and opened the door for her. Bai Chuwei was slightly surprised as to why he had not asked his driver to do this, but she did not ponder much over it and sat in the passenger seat. The car started moving slowly and crossed a white-colored car before driving out of the villa. Bai Chuwei rolled down the window and propped up her left arm. She then looked at Duan Feihan with interest as she openly checked him out. The members of the Duan Family were not kind souls, but she did not expect someone as good as Duan Feihan to appear in this family. Oh right, that silly, male cannon fodder, Duan Xingye was also not bad. Her gaze slowly shifted downwards and went past his protruding Adam¡¯s apple, before landing on the sandalwood Buddha bracelet on his left wrist, where the patterns were nearly worn out from excessive rubbing. She suddenly smiled and asked him. ¡°I presume you¡¯ve worn this bracelet for twenty years?¡± Duan Feihan softly hummed in response. Someone had gifted that bracelet to him twenty years ago. Bai Chuwei smiled with her head lowered. She never expected the adorable little child, who always asked for hugs back then, would wear the Buddha bracelet for so long. This was something that she randomly made twenty years ago. Moreover, he had grown into such a handsome man. She looked at his slightly reddened ears and finally turned her gaze out of the car¡¯s window. High-rise buildings and numerous cars on the road filled her view. There were pedestrians walking on the street as they headed to the Sea City downtown. Bai Chuwei turned to look at him and asked in surprise. ¡°Mr. Duan should have already investigated my address. Then, why did you drive me here instead of sending me home?¡± Duan Feihan didn¡¯t answer and parked the car in the shopping mall¡¯s parking lot before inviting her to get down. ¡°Miss Bai, come with me.¡± He walked ahead and led Bai Chuwei into the bustling shopping mall. The first floor of the mall were all retail outlets that sold different brands of mobile phones. ¡°Which brand of mobile phone is Miss Bai fond of?¡± Duan Feihan looked at her and asked. Her brow shot up and her smile extended to her eyes. So, Mr. Duan¡¯s offer to buy her a mobile phone had not merely been a courtesy! Bai Chuwei pondered for a moment before pointing towards a mobile shop. ¡°I¡¯ll get a Moyun phone then.¡± She did not wish to use the old phone which Bai Yinyin had used in the past. Moyun was a domestic brand of mobile phones in China. Based on its powerful system and performance, it had won the favor of the vast majority of locals, thus seizing the largest market share. It was also said that the latest Moyun 10pro was sold at a starting price of thirty thousand yuan. Chapter 25 Editor: Henyee Translations Both of them entered the crowded store, where there was no lack of young female students roaming around in their uniforms. The staff immediately went up to welcome them with a smile. ¡°May I know which customer is interested in purchasing a phone?¡± The staff¡¯s eyes could not help but light up. The man was handsome and the girl was gorgeous and had an unearthly demeanor. Both of them looked like a good match! Bai Chuwei answered. ¡°Me.¡± The female staff smiled even more sweetly. She led them to a counter, took out a large screen phone and politely explained. ¡°Miss, this Moyun V20 was recently launched in March and is endorsed by the popular film actor, Duan Xiuqi. It is well liked by most girls and you can also get a chance to win his autograph with this purchase.¡± Bai Chuwei finally understood something after the saleswoman told her this. No wonder there were so many young female students in the store. Moreover, there were Duan Xiuqi¡¯s posters hanging all over. So it turned out that the man was their spokesman. Just as the female staff wanted to delve into the phone specs, Bai Chuwei frowned and impatiently interrupted her. ¡°There¡¯s no need to continue introducing this phone. I don¡¯t want to buy it.¡± The staff was stunned. This V20 model was currently the most popular model and nine out of ten females who came in here wanted this model, just because Duan Xiuqi was endorsing it. Therefore, she didn¡¯t expect Bai Chuwei to decisively refuse it. Could it be¡ that she was Duan Xiuqi¡¯s anti-fan? ¡°I want to buy Moyun 10pro, the highest specs, in silver.¡± The staff was shocked and immediately turned to look at the quiet man seated beside Bai Chuwei. Duan Feihan had one hand in his pocket and appeared indifferent. When the staff looked at him, he nodded. The staff could not help but feel astonished deep down. Moyun 10pro was designed for wealthy people. The starting price was around thirty thousand yuan, and the highest specs model was pegged at more than forty thousand yuan. No ordinary person would buy that model. Moreover, the lady looked to be around seventeen to eighteen years old. The saleswoman had not expected her to be smart enough to leech off such an expensive item from the man. ¡°Just a moment, please. I¡¯ll bring out the phone.¡± The staff went towards the storeroom immediately after. While they waited, three girls in their uniforms came over with their new phones and asked. ¡°Excuse me, I would like to ask you if you have any misunderstanding about Xiuxiu?¡± Evidently, that group of fans overheard Bai Chuwei saying that she does not wish to purchase the phone which Duan Xiuqi endorsed. Bai Chuwei fluttered her eyes and said, ¡°He looks irritating.¡± A few girls who looked like junior high school students, flushed red in anger and when they wanted to reason it out, a man¡¯s cold voice arose next to her. ¡°Security.¡± Several security guards hastily came forward and invited them out. Moyun 10pro had been released half a year ago and there were less than a hundred customers who had purchased the phone in this store. Therefore, they could not afford to offend such customers. Bai Chuwei leaned against the chair, propped up her chin as she looked at Duan Feihan. She asked him in a quiet manner. ¡°Isn¡¯t your third brother, Duan Xiuqi, a thirty-eight year old man? Why does he still have so many idiotic fans?¡± Duan Feihan thought for a moment and said, ¡°I have no idea.¡± The staff came back with hurried steps and brought the phone. She even enthusiastically answered Bai Chuwei¡¯s question. ¡°Ever since his debut, Duan Xiuqi became famous and has remained so for twenty years. He is well-deserving of his title, ¡®film emperor¡¯. There are many fans who love his appearance and acting skills.¡± Bai Chuwei sneered. ¡°Is that so?¡± The staff continued to speak without realising the expressions on Bai Chuwei¡¯s face. ¡°What is most attractive about Duan Xiuqi is how he talks about his love life. He publicly announced that he would wait for a girl for twenty years. Everyone thought that it was merely a joke. But for the past twenty years, he has been clean and honest in his personal life, and it was only this year that he had started making preparations to marry. How could such a man not attract loyal fans?¡± Chapter 26 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei¡¯s expression altered and she changed the topic immediately. ¡°Let me look at the phone.¡± The staff was rather disappointed as it seemed that the beautiful customer¡¯s impression of Duan Xiuqi had not changed. She took out the phone and passed it to her. Bai Chuwei switched on the phone and her jade-like fingers nimbly glided on the screen. The staff professionally introduced the features of this phone with utmost politeness. Duan Feihan sat next to her. His back was straight as a pine while he quietly drank the warm water served to him. His demeanor was outstanding and elegant. Bai Chuwei used her left hand as a chin rest. She opened the camera mode, and flipped her slightly curly hair to one side before taking a picture that looked flirty. She then changed to another posture with her beautiful eyes staring at the screen. Her red lips were in a pout and made her seem even more coquettish, but adorable and attractive at the same time. Bai Chuwei did not notice that the man had stopped drinking water and his pitch-back eyes, as deep as the sea, were fixated on her. The staff stood rooted on the spot as well, when she saw Bai Chuwei taking selfies. She had used the phone¡¯s camera without any beauty filter and every shot was flawless. ¡°I¡¯ll take this.¡± Bai Chuwei was rather satisfied with this phone. The man was still staring at her. He seemed to have not heard her. Bai Chuwei lifted her brows and smiled at Duan Feihan. Her voice was sweet and provocative when she said, ¡°Mr Duan, please make the payment.¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s long eyelashes blinked and his pupils finally regained their focus before he faintly said to the staff, ¡°The bill.¡± The staff also replied hastily. ¡°Would you be paying by card or via the QR code? This way, please.¡± Duan Feihan stood up and followed the staff to make payments, while Bai Chuwei sat alone and fiddled around with the phone. Firstly, she changed the phone card from Bai Yinyin¡¯s old phone. Then, she zealfully downloaded a few commonly used applications and registered a WeChat account. ¡°Miss Bai, your little gift.¡± Bai Chuwei looked up and saw that Duan Feihan had returned with a paper bag in his hands. It was a free gift that came along with the phone. Bai Chuwei glanced at it and said, ¡°A cup? Mr Duan, thanks for buying me a phone, you can treat this cup as a gift from me. There¡¯s no need to be polite.¡± The cup was made of ceramic and was in the shape of a cartoonish fat hamster that looked rather adorable. Unfortunately, Bai Chuwei felt like punching a hamster whenever she saw it, so she did not take it from him. The staff who came over to deliver the receipt: ¡°¡¡± Duan Feihan smiled faintly and said, ¡°Then I¡¯ll have to thank Miss Bai.¡± Bai Chuwei did not feel ashamed in the slightest. Based on the few needles which she inserted today, even another ten Moyun 10pro would not cover the fees! After maintaining silence for several seconds, he slowly asked her. ¡°In order to be able to contact you, can you give me your contact information?¡± Bai Chuwei dutifully recited her phone number and a moment later, she received a friend request message on Wechat. She accepted it immediately. After the purchase of a new phone, Duan Feihan personally drove her home and the black-colored Rolls Royce stopped somewhere near the Bai Family¡¯s villa. Bai Chuwei did not immediately alight and instead, she said with a smile, ¡°Mr Duan, your father had offended me in the past and I had no intentions to save him today.¡± Her delicate fingers undid the seatbelt and she turned towards him. She closed the distance between them, and came really close to his flawless handsome face. ¡°But I saved him on your account. Hence, don¡¯t forget the agreement between us.¡± Chapter 27 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei smiled and opened the car¡¯s door to walk towards the Bai Family¡¯s residence with her backpack slung on her shoulder. She dialed a number on her new phone and a young man¡¯s magnetic voice could be heard from the other end. ¡°Hello?¡± Bai Chuwei spoke in her usual tone. ¡°It¡¯s me. Moyun is one of your businesses, right? Get rid of your brand ambassador, Duan Xiuqi. I find him irritating.¡± Dozens of silent seconds elapsed and all of a sudden, a trembling voice containing traces of shock, shouted out. ¡°I-It¡¯s¡ you? Ancestor? You have a phone now? You¡¯ve descended the mountains?¡± ¡°En.¡± Bai Chuwei answered and hung up the call. * A black, classy yet conspicuous Rolls Royce was parked by the side of the road. The man was seated in the driver seat and appeared normal. But upon closer inspection, one could see that the tips of his ears had turned red. Duan Feihan suddenly closed his eyes and heaved a long sigh before stepping on the accelerator. The car went in the direction of the Duan Family¡¯s residence. Before Duan Feihan reached home, the third young master of the Duan Family, Duan Xiuqi, had already returned to the residence. Duan Xiuqi turned thirty eight this year. He had become famous on his debut at the age of eighteen, and remained extremely popular during the past twenty years. His skin was very well maintained, making him resemble a young man in his early twenties. He was currently dressed in a simple set of fashionable and well coordinated clothing. Beside him, stood a beautiful woman with an elegant demeanor, holding a pearl handbag in her hands. Duan Xiuqi was in a trance as he seemed to have seen the girl of his dreams pass by him. Tong Qingyan¡¯s aunt, Tong Yunrou looked at Duan Xiuqi¡¯s expression and tightly grasped his arm. ¡°Xiuqi, don¡¯t let your mind wander too much. Let¡¯s go in and visit your father.¡± Duan Xiuqi had a complicated look on his face and subconsciously pulled his arm out of her grip. Twenty years ago when he was eighteen, he encountered the love of his life. It was someone whom he wanted to marry regardless of her refusal! In the end, the woman fled and he could not locate her even after searching throughout China. As a result, he debuted with resigned feelings and stood under the glamorous lights, so that she could easily find his whereabouts if she missed him even in the slightest. However, even with his public declaration that he would wait twenty years for her, that beautiful young lady still did not appear. Tong Yunrou had been secretly in love with him ever since he was young and everyone in the upper society of Sea City knew that she would never marry, unless the groom was Duan Feihan. After the agreement of twenty years passed, old man Tong had personally come to the Duan Family and forced them to marry. The wedding preparations were currently in process but unexpectedly, old man Duan was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Duan Xiuqi had used various means, repeatedly, to cancel the wedding in the recent past. Hence, Tong Yunrou feared that he would cancel the wedding with the reason that his father was seriously ill, and was nearing his death. Therefore, she had specially gone to invite the medical expert Liu Zhen! Duan Xiuqi furrowed his brows and asked her. ¡°Liu Zhen is really capable of curing cancer?¡± This was cancer, that they were talking about. Even the well developed western medicine was incapable of curing it till date. Both of them headed for old man Duan¡¯s courtyard while conversing. Upon entering, they saw Liu Zhen standing by the bed looking dazed and pale at the same time. There was another doctor present, who was checking the old man Duan¡¯s condition. A doctor with the stethoscope in his hands exclaimed. ¡°Miracle. It¡¯s a miracle! Old man Duan¡¯s breathing is much smoother than before and his various physical indices have also improved!¡± ¡°I¡¯ve never seen a miraculous doctor like this who could achieve such great effects with just needles!¡± ¡°¡¡± Tong Yunrou looked at Duan Xiuqi with pride and went towards Liu Zhen. ¡°Mr Liu, thank you for your help today. I hope that you could spare us the honor of your appearance on our wedding day.¡± The moment she said that, Liu Zhen¡¯s aged face became awkward and extremely pale. Chapter 28 Editor: Henyee Translations Duan Xingye seemed to have seen a ghost and he started yelling, immediately. ¡°Aunt Tong, what are you talking about? The one who treated grandfather was Weiwei! This Mr Liu, whom you invited, nearly killed grandfather the moment he inserted the needle! If not for Weiwei¡¯s timely help, you won¡¯t have seen grandfather lying here alive!¡± Tong Yunrou¡¯s smile stiffened and her eyes suddenly widened. ¡°What did you say? Who saved your grandfather?¡± Weiwei? Who was she? She had never heard of someone with that name! Duan Xingye replied with pride in his voice. ¡°The miracle doctor that my fourth uncle and I invited from Yunwu Mountain. Her medical skills are much superior to Mr Liu.¡± Just as Duan Xingye said that, he unconsciously looked towards Duan Xiuqi. When he saw his third uncle¡¯s chilly expression, he cried out internally. ¡°Sh*t! So much for my blabbermouth.¡± The relationship between his third and fourth uncle had always been bad, and his third uncle did not even wish to hear Duan Feihan¡¯s name. But he also understood the reason behind it. If the four-year-old Duan Feihan had not secretly escaped with that girl twenty years ago, his third uncle would have already married her instead of waiting for this long a period. Ever since that incident, Duan Xiuqi had not acknowledged Duan Feihan¡¯s presence. Duan Xingye smiled dryly and repeatedly slapped his mouth. Liu Zhen¡¯s aged face turned red in embarrassment and his white beard trembled. He said awkwardly, ¡°This senior shall not¡ argue with children. I-I¡¯ll make a move first.¡± Without waiting for a reply, Liu Zhen carried his belongings and scrambled out, without the arrogance which he first arrived with. When he recalled that he had chided the girl as a little brat ignorant of medical skills, his face felt scorching hot. He could only continuously comfort himself with the explanation that she might have only learned acupuncture, but was clueless about other aspects. * Bai Chuwei entered the villa and was changing her shoes when a silhouette ran towards her. Bai Yinyin glared at her and questioned her in anger. ¡°I saw you getting down from a Rolls Royce on the balcony. Whose car is that?¡± Bai Chuwei entered the house in slippers and replied with indifference. ¡°I believe it¡¯s none of your business. Even your grandfather would not dare to speak to me in that tone.¡± Bai Yinyin¡¯s anger shot through the roof. ¡°That¡¯s because my grandfather has been tricked by you. I originally thought you would be simpleminded since you came from the countryside, but who would expect you to have seduced a rich guy so fast? You¡¯re too¡ ah¡ª!¡± ¡°Mouse! A fat mouse!!¡± Bai Yinyin felt something touching her foot. She looked down and saw a fat white-haired hamster lying on her feet. Instantly, she was scared sh*tless and started screaming. Snowball grinned and chased Bai Yinyin all around the hallway. Bai Chuwei felt her eyelids twitch and reluctantly bent down to pick up Snowball by its tail before heading up to the third floor. Bai Yinyin, who had climbed on the table from fright, roared at her. ¡°Don¡¯t think just because you helped me, I would¡¡± Just then Bai Guofu¡¯s furious voice sounded from far. ¡°Bai Yinyin! Our ancestor is currently staying in our house. Do you have any manners? You¡¯re embarrassing the Bai Family! Who taught you to climb up the dining table? You had better get down right now!¡± ¡°You can also forget about dinner tonight!¡± Bai Chuwei was uninterested in the farce that transpired downstairs. She shelved Snowball somewhere on the table and patted the fat hamster¡¯s cheeks. ¡°Are you done with the calculations of my assets here?¡± Snowball immediately squeaked. ¡°Ancestor, your assets accumulated through these five thousand years have exceeded those of the richest man in the world by several folds. However, I found out something while I was checking the ledgers. The Tong Family owes you ten years worth of debt.¡± Bai Chuwei quirked her brows with interest. There was actually someone who dared to owe her money? Chapter 29 Editor: Henyee Translations This hamster cared for nothing except eating and that¡¯s why it was currently as fat as a ball. Even though it had yet to transform after being around her for two decades, it was rather smart in terms of finances. Therefore, she had deliberately left it around to consolidate her assets which were spread across the world. ¡°The Tong Family owes me a debt of ten years and they are yet to return it?¡± Bai Chuwei touched her chin and revealed a meaningful smile. The Tong Family in question was the female lead, Tong Qingyan¡¯s family, who had relied on their grandmother, Chen Meihua to flourish. That year, she had saved Chen Meihua and invested a small sum of money on her behalf. However, she did not expect that the strong and independent Chen Meihua would successfully expand her business. Since then, Chen Meihua always transferred thirty million yuan into Bai Chuwei¡¯s Swiss bank account every year without fail. But she passed away a decade ago and the remaining family members stopped the yearly transfer. A debt of ten years would mean a sum of three hundred million yuan. Bai Chuwei chuckled and murmured to herself. ¡°It isn¡¯t that easy to owe me money.¡± She stroked her chin and said with indifference, ¡°Send a letter to the Tong Family on my behalf. They are to transfer four hundred million yuan to my account in a month¡¯s time. The extra hundred million would be the interest which they owe me for the non-payment in the past ten years. If they refuse to pay, they would be responsible for the consequences.¡± Snowball got excited in anticipation of watching a good show and squeaked. ¡°No problem, I¡¯ll send it immediately!¡± The hamster loved to watch the ancestor act like a loan shark! The Tong Family was on par with the Bai Family in Sea City. Both of them were rather wealthy families, but they were not considered to be at the top of the food chain. The bill of four hundred million yuan would certainly cause them a huge headache. Snowball¡¯s claws strenuously opened the notebook placed on the table. It pressed on the power button, opened a word document and used its four paws to type on the keyboard with great difficulty. This notebook was something that Bai Guofu asked people to deliver when Bai Chuwei had gone to school. When Bai Chuwei saw Snowball¡¯s chubby figure busy typing, her disdain for it increased by the minute as she stared at its struggle. ¡°Tsk, even after following me for two decades, you¡¯re still in animal form.¡± She recalled a little white fox, which she had raised and it became capable of transforming into a human form after ten years of being by her side. But in the end¡ Bai Chuwei¡¯s expression dimmed. Snowball sat on the keyboard and panted slightly. ¡°I won¡¯t transform. I¡¯ll just follow my ancestor for the rest of my life.¡± Bai Chuwei clicked her tongue and looked at Snowball, who had gone back to work. She sat on the chair, with one hand supporting her jaw and the other hand playing with her new phone. After scanning the group QR code, she successfully entered the school group chat and changed her username to ¡®Bai Chuwei¡¯ according to the rules. In general, for group chats like these where the homeroom teacher and respective subject teachers were also present, the students rarely held any conversations. While no one had sent any messages here, a friend request popped out from her Wechat. Yesterday¡¯s Xingchen: [Student Bai Chuwei, I¡¯m your classmate, Xu Xingchen.] A thought provoking smile flashed in her eyes and she accepted his request. As soon as the friend request was accepted, Xu Xingchen immediately sent her a few messages. The contents were basically words of concern for a new classmate. Yesterday¡¯s Xingchen: [Student Bai, I am the class monitor of Class 9, and the math student representative. You can approach me if you are in need of any help. Although you just transferred here and might need some time to adapt, the math homework assigned by Teacher Zhou Feng must be completed in time. He would do a surprise inspection tomorrow in the morning.] Bai Chuwei smirked and replied. Your Ancestor: [Zhou Feng will not be in school tomorrow. There¡¯s no need to complete the homework.] Xu Xingchen was momentarily stunned and felt that Bai Chuwei was speaking nonsense. Be it rain or shine, Zhou Feng was always diligent and punctual. The moment Xu Xingchen wanted to refute her words, he suddenly noticed the class group chat exploding, with 99+ new messages in the blink of an eye. What happened? Chapter 30 Editor: Henyee Translations Year 3 Teacher-In-Charge: [@All Dear students of Class 9, Teacher Zhou suddenly fainted today. From tomorrow onwards, he will be on temporary leave to recuperate. Teacher Zhou¡¯s lesson will be changed to self-revision.] As soon as the news was announced, it caused a great stir. Xu Xingchen was taken aback. He had no idea if Bai Chuwei was merely lucky or¡ At the same time, Zhou Feng was also reeling under the shock. He had been immediately sent to the hospital after he fainted in the office. The doctor said that he had a brain tumor. Zhou Feng felt a chill enter his body and both his forehead and back were soaked in cold sweat. He¡ really had a mental illness? Bai Chuwei was truly a miracle doctor to have identified his illness in a single glance. A miracle doctor! He had to look for that miracle doctor. Since Bai Chuwei mentioned it, it meant that she must have a cure. He recalled that Duan Xingye had been looking around for a miracle doctor for his grandfather¡ Zhou Feng immediately leapt out of the hospital bed, wore his shoes and dashed out without bothering about the nurse¡¯s shouts. He took a cab to go to the Bai Family. He had seen Bai Chuwei¡¯s particulars previously and remembered the address of the Bai Family¡¯s villa. The Bai Family¡¯s servants scoffed when they saw Zhou Feng. School started only a few days ago and a teacher had already come to pay a visit? The servant led Zhou Feng to Bai Chuwei¡¯s room. When Zhou Feng saw Bai Chuwei, his nose soured while his eyes gleamed with tears. He spoke up in a choked voice. ¡°Stu-Student Bai. Miracle doctor Bai. I am Teacher Zhou, I¡¯m really ill.¡± When Bai Chuwei heard that, she laughed out loud. She did not seem to be surprised at Zhou Feng¡¯s arrival. ¡°Teacher Zhou, as I mentioned earlier, you will definitely come looking for me. Come over here, let me insert a few needles for you.¡± Bai Chuwei leisurely unfolded the acupuncture cloth that she had prepared in advance and took out several silver needles. Zhou Feng gasped. It seemed that Bai Chuwei had actually been waiting for him. She had guessed accurately that he would come looking for her. She was amazing! From the looks of it, she seemed to be rather confident of her medical skills. Zhou Feng hastily went over. She did not speak any further and directly inserted needles on the tip of his head. The pain caused Zhou Feng¡¯s complexion to turn deathly pale. Bai Chuwei stopped after inserting dozens of needles in succession and chuckled. ¡°These needles have cleared the blood clot in your brain. Teacher Zhou, you are a good teacher, so I¡¯ll also give you a pill. Take a good rest for a week and come back after that. Zhou Feng subconsciously said, ¡°I still have to rest for a week? What about my students¡¯ revision? They are already in Year 3 and their studies cannot be delayed.¡± Bai Chuwei shot him a glance and said with indifference, ¡°If you wish to die, I won¡¯t stop you.¡± When Zhou Feng recalled the moment when he had fainted, he decided not to argue any further. Zhou Feng looked at Bai Chuwei and was even more determined to be a good teacher who taught and educated the younger generation. He would assign them more homework so that they can be molded into talents as soon as possible¡ * By the time she sent Zhou Feng off, Snowball had already written the creditor note and printed it out. Bai Chuwei then signed with her alias on the lower right corner of the page, with a black pen ¡ª Bai Chu. Her handwriting was elegant and free, while the strokes appeared delicate yet powerful. Bai Chuwei was her name for the past five thousand years, and the name ¡®Bai Chu¡¯ was an alias she had come up with, twenty years ago. Science and technology had been developing rapidly in recent centuries. In particular, monitoring, photography and filming devices had improved by leaps and bounds in the past two decades. Her unchanged appearance made it easy for her to be targeted by many unsavoury characters. Coincidentally, Duan Xiuqi was madly pursuing her at that time and wanted to marry her. As a result, she created an alias for herself. Snowball folded the creditor note into an envelope and Bai Chuwei looked at it with a curious expression. She wanted to know what kind of reaction the Tong Family would show when they received the four hundred million yuan bill. Chapter 31 Editor: Henyee Translations The express delivery services in China were well developed and an urgent delivery between villas in the same city could be delivered in a couple of hours. The Tong Family received the letter an hour later. ¡°Ridiculous! She¡¯s asking us for four hundred million yuan? Is this a prank or plain extortion?¡± A middle-aged man with a pot-belly, shouted furiously. He was the son, whom Chen Meihua gave birth to when she was abducted in the mountain area. Afterwards, he was taken to the Sea City and changed his surname to follow his stepfather. Old man Tong furrowed his brows and looked at the signature at the bottom. ¡°Bai Chu? This seems to be the name of the account holder whom Chen Meihua would transfer money to regularly.¡± Tong Qingyan who just returned from the Duan Family, had an ugly expression on her face. The thought of the fourth young master sending back a girl in his personal car, made her feel uncomfortable. She could feel that he did not treat her as a normal person of the opposite gender. The moment she entered the doors, she heard the conversation between her grandfather and her father. Tong Qingyan immediately inquired about the situation. After she understood the reason behind, her refined brows knitted together as she said, ¡°Grandfather, father, on what basis do we have to give her our hard earned money?¡± ¡°Grandmother used to sponsor poor students and it didn¡¯t matter if they did not repay her. But this Bai Chu is so greedy to be asking for four hundred million yuan. This is nothing but extortion!¡± After giving it some thought, she continued. ¡°Grandfather, could it be that Bai Chu knows that aunt Yunrou would be marrying uncle Duan Xiuqi and therefore, she wants to deliberately extort some money from us?¡± The entire country knew that Tong Yunrou would be marrying the famous actor, Duan Xiuqi, and it was likely that Bai Chu knew of it as well. Tong Qingyan was already in a bad mood and coupled with the creditor¡¯s note, she felt even more vexed and tore it into pieces. ¡°Our Tong Family has businesses all around the country. I¡¯d like to see how this Bai Chu shall make us ¡®bear the consequences¡¯.¡± The entire Tong Family burst into laughter. She was right. Even though they were not amongst the oldest families, they were still in the top ranks within the Sea City. Moreover, when Tong Yunrou enters the Duan Family in the future, they would be considered as one of them. Who would dare to challenge the position of the Tong Family at that time? If that Bai Chu had guts, she had better directly come knocking on their door to ask for the money! Bai Chu was simply a brainless idiot, who dared to mail such a note! The entire Tong Family snickered at this scene and did not take the letter to heart. Even though Bai Chuwei had not witnessed the Tong Family¡¯s performance, she did not care. What she had the most was patience. Anyways, she had mentioned in the letter that she would give them one month to prepare the money. Bai Chuwei grabbed a piece of paper and swiftly wrote down a list of medicinal ingredients on it. When she finished writing, she took a screenshot and was about to send it to Duan Xingye to prepare it for the patient. But Bai Chuwei paused suddenly and a fox-like smile curled up on her lips. Snowball who was right beside her: ¡°!!!¡± The moment Bai Chuwei revealed that smile, it was never a good sign. It meant that she was about to con someone. Bai Chuwei slipped the list into her table drawer and tapped on Duan Feihan¡¯s chat. Her slender and white fingers rapidly tapped on the screen. Your Ancestor: [Mr Duan, the prescription is ready. Come and fetch me tomorrow after school so that we can purchase the medicinal ingredients together.] From the rumors, it seemed like the Duan Family was showing the signs of overtaking the eight aristocratic families, under Duan Feihan¡¯s management. If so, he must be rich and she ought to siphon off more money from him tomorrow. Duan Feihan: [Ok.] His response had basically ended the conversation and Bai Chuwei could not think of anything in response. Just as she was about to close the chat, he sent another message. Duan Feihan: [Thank you Miss Bai.] Bai Chuwei: ¡ Your Ancestor: [¡ You¡¯re Welcome] A man dressed in a suit and leather shoes was seated before his table as his black eyes stared at the extremely awkward chat. He silently pulled out several books from his bookshelf titled, ¡®Teach You How to Text¡¯, ¡®The Art of Language¡¯, ¡®People Who Can Talk Have High EQ¡¯. Chapter 32 Editor: Henyee Translations On the second day, Bai Yinyin did not wait for Bai Chuwei. She took the car to school and went straight to the canteen. Henghua Secondary School was considered a school for the wealthy and the canteen would be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Moreover, every dish was really sumptuous. Bai Yinyin picked up a tray and started to eat her breakfast. Shortly after, several students carried their food trays and sat in front of her with a surprised expression. ¡°Yinyin? It¡¯s really you? I thought you never ate breakfast in school?¡± Bai Yinyin nibbed on the bun and revealed an unhappy expression. ¡°I haven¡¯t had any food since last night. There¡¯s an adopted daughter in my house and my grandfather punished me because of her.¡± Adopted daughter? Bai Yinyin¡¯s good friend, Deng Man, immediately associated the girl with the transfer student of yesterday and said, ¡°Are you speaking of the Bai Chuwei from our class? Oh my, isn¡¯t that girl too arrogant? An adopted daughter like her dares to bully you, the real daughter of the family??¡± Bai Yinyin nodded like a little chick and appeared to be weak and pitiful. ¡°My grandfather likes her. What can I possibly do? Sigh.¡± Bai Chuwei became famous post her enrollment yesterday. She had seduced both Duan Xingye and Xu Xingchen, humiliated Teacher Li by proclaiming her to be sick. Moreover, she even bragged that she had written those famous classics. For the female students, what they couldn¡¯t stand the most was that Bai Chuwei and Duan Xingye seemed to be getting closer! Even though she appeared pure and ethereal on the outside, alas, she was a b*tch who seduced men on the sly. Deng Man and a few female students looked at one another and she said immediately, ¡°Yinyin, rest assured. We will teach her a lesson on your behalf!¡± Bai Yinyin repeatedly thanked them with reddened eyes, but the corner of her lips had unconsciously curled up. * Bai Chuwei¡¯s journey to school was smooth without Bai Yinyin being around. After she entered her class, she saw Duan Xingye walking over like a happy golden retriever. ¡°Weiwei, you¡¯re superb. My grandfather¡¯s condition has improved a lot since yesterday. Also, you managed to identify Teacher Zhou¡¯s illness. As expected of a miracle doctor!¡± Duan Xingye had a glib tongue and he was bootlicking Bai Chuwei thoroughly. Duan Xingye looked at her and asked eagerly. ¡°Weiwei, have you written the prescription? Let me accompany you to get the medicine?¡± Bai Chuwei responded to him without lifting her eyes. ¡°No need, your fourth uncle and I have made an appointment. He will come with me.¡± Duan Xingye was instantly shocked and his expression gradually became complicated. As expected, the father and son bond between his fourth uncle and his grandfather was very deep. Just as they conversed, a gentle and warm voice cut in. ¡°Student Bai Chuwei, this is your custom-made school uniform. I brought it here for you.¡± Looking up, she saw Xu Xingchen carrying a paper bag with her uniform in it. He was smiling at her. His current expression was the one that was especially popular with girls. Duan Xingye immediately slung his arm over Xu Xingchen and said with a smile, ¡°Hey good brother of mine, you¡¯re meticulous as always.¡± Xu Xingchen smiled and suddenly saw Bai Chuwei¡¯s flawlessly gorgeous face looking at him with a meaningful gaze. Bai Chuwei then went to the girls toilet with her uniform. She found the whole situation extremely funny. That silly Duan Xingye! Even until this point in time, he was oblivious to Xu Xingchen¡¯s inner thoughts. But even so, there was nothing wrong with calling Xu Xingchen his ¡®good brother¡¯. Bai Chuwei entered an empty cubicle, closed the door and hung the bag on the hook. However, before she had the chance to change into her uniform, she suddenly heard footsteps from outside, and¡ the toilet door got locked! Bai Chuwei furrowed her brows, stared at the door and asked in a cold voice. ¡°What are you doing?¡± Deng Manli crossed her arms and laughed together with a few other female students. ¡°Did someone just talk? My ears must be playing tricks on me. Let¡¯s go.¡± Chapter 33 Editor: Henyee Translations Deng Man was feeling extremely smug and said, ¡°Bai Chuwei seduced Duan Xingye and Xu Xingchen by relying on her beauty. Thus, this shall serve as a little lesson for her!¡± ¡°I heard that the next lesson is the language class, Teacher¡¯s Li lesson. Yesterday, she had claimed that Teacher Li was sick. I believe we will be enjoying a good show later.¡± Another chubby female student said in a gloating voice. The sounds of those female students went further and further away. Bai Chuwei amusedly looked at the wooden door. She was not worried in the slightest and took out the school uniform. Henghua Secondary School¡¯s uniform design leaned towards the sakura country1. A white inner clothing and a black-colored outerwear for spring season. The lower half was a plaid skirt, making one look young and energetic. To avoid comparison of wealth in the school, leather shoes were also included in their provided set of uniforms. Bai Chuwei picked up the shoes and with them, found a pair of heel pads and a piece of note from inside the paper bag. ¡°Student Bai Chuwei, your skin may tear from the new shoes, here¡¯s a heel sticker. ^_^. Xu Xingchen.¡± Bai Chuwei clicked her tongue and murmured to herself. ¡°Male lead, you¡¯re indeed a central air conditioner1¡± Looking at how considerate this Xu Xingchen was, it wasn¡¯t any wonder that the original owner of this body had been so devoted to him and continuously clashed with the female lead, Tong Qingyan. Bai Chuwei scoffed. ¡°Why is he trying to flirt with everyone when he doesn¡¯t even like them?¡± For someone like her who had lived five thousand years, how could she be unaware of Duan Xingchen¡¯s hidden intentions? The more she thought about it, the more she felt that the silly Duan Xingye was more comfortable to be with. In the end, Bai Chuwei did not use the heel sticker. She looked at the door with a smile and teleported out with a slight snap of her hand. She then turned back to look at the door. There was a mop tied with a thick rope, making it impossible to open the door from the inside. She had lived and cultivated for thousands of years. How could such a small trick trap her in? Unfortunately, the spiritual energy in the current era was somewhat thin. Bai Chuwei¡¯s eyes revealed traces of interest as she smiled and went out of the toilet. At that moment, all the lessons in classes had already started. Bai Chuwei leisurely walked in the direction of Year 3 Class 11 classroom, walking past Class 9 along the way. Class 11 was currently having a self-study lesson, and the students were all honestly completing the practice exam papers. A crisp knock sounded and all the students looked over. The culprit was wearing the female uniform of Henghua Secondary School, and her posture was graceful. She had a faint smile on her face and when she looked up, her eyes appeared unbridled but beautiful and cool. All the male students in Class 11 were momentarily stunned, and turned red immediately. There were also whistles and shouts that followed soon after. ¡°This should be the transfer student of Class 9? Oh my god, she¡¯s so beautiful. I believe she will be replacing Tong Qingyan from the position of the campus belle soon!¡± ¡°Tong Qingyan is indeed beautiful, but her demeanor can¡¯t compare to this student! Tong Qingyan has the aura of someone from a wealthy family, but Bai Chuwei¡ is a fairy!¡± ¡°¡¡± Tong Qingyan¡¯s expression darkened. Bai Chuwei walked in with a smile and glanced at Bai Yinyin, whose head was hung low. Then she headed towards Deng Man and the group of girls who were seated together. All of them looked at each other with an ugly expression. How did Bai Chuwei come out? She should have been stuck in the toilet for an entire lesson and fainted with the stink. Perhaps it was due to Bai Chuwei¡¯s powerful aura, but when she walked over, Deng Man and her group started to panic. Deng Man preemptively slammed the table and stood up with a shout. ¡°Student Bai Chuwei, this is Class 11 and we are currently in the middle of a lesson. Please go back to your own class.¡± Bai Chuwei leaned against the table in a relaxed manner while her hands were buried inside her pockets. She said, ¡°No hurry. I¡¯ll return to my class after you¡¯ve apologized.¡± Chapter 34 Editor: Henyee Translations Apologize!? Deng Man and her gang never expected Bai Chuwei to confront them and moreover, in such a short span of time. As a result, they were momentarily stunned and became flustered. Deng Man looked towards Bai Yinyin, but she did not even dare to look in their direction. The flames of fury inside Deng Man raged even wilder. Isn¡¯t this adopted daughter too arrogant? Bai Yinyin was so scared that she didn¡¯t even dare to glance at them. Did an adopted daughter think she could overturn the tables? Deng Man crossed her arms and scoffed rudely. ¡°Student Bai, please don¡¯t be unreasonable and make a scene here. What have we done? Do you have evidence? You claim that we bullied you, but I¡¯d like to say that you are the one who is deliberately making a scene!¡± Deng Man was in full momentum, and did not feel guilty in the slightest. The onlookers were unable to distinguish which side was speaking the truth. Bai Chuwei appeared to be calm and composed. Before any words came out of her mouth, a beautiful figure swiftly walked over and stood in front of Deng Man. Tong Qingyan stared at Bai Chuwei unwaveringly and said, ¡°Student Bai, I am the class monitor of Class 11, Tong Qingyan. As for Student Deng Man¡¯s business¡¡± Bai Chuwei raised her eyelids and interrupted her. ¡°Miss Tong. Please don¡¯t interfere when it is none of your business. Since you are so free, you might as well pay back the money you owe as soon as possible.¡± The Tong Family owed her four hundred million yuan and she was rather concerned about it. The surrounding students gasped and some even started whispering. ¡°Even though the Tong Family isn¡¯t at the top of the food chain, they are still a wealthy family. But their family is in debt?¡± ¡°Is that for real? My father¡¯s company has collaborations with the Tong Family, would it be better to reconsider the association?¡± ¡°The Tong Family is in debt. Oh my, this is breaking news. I¡¯ll have to inform my brother right away!¡± ¡°¡¡± Students of Henghua Secondary School were all from wealthy families who were engaged in various businesses. Therefore, if the Tong Family was really in debt, it would more or less affect their collaboration with other companies. Tong Qingyan¡¯s expression turned ugly and her hands clenched into tight fists. ¡°Student Bai, why are you starting a rumor? When has my family owed money?¡± Bai Chuwei smiled and answered back with a question of her own. ¡°Miss Tong, why don¡¯t you tell me?¡± Tong Qingyan stared into space for a moment. Her family owed¡ four hundred million yuan? How was that even considered a debt? That Bai Chu didn¡¯t not deserve to take money from her family. From Bai Chuwei¡¯s attitude and stand, it was evident that she would not go away as long as this issue was unsolved. Unexpectedly, she did not only possess a pretty face, but was also rather headstrong and unforgiving! Bai Chuwei¡¯s smiling eyes caused Deng Man to gradually start sweating. She then glared at a few female students and gnashed her teeth. ¡°Where¡¯s the evidence? What have we done to you?¡± ¡°You locked me inside the toilet.¡± Deng Man laughed out loud, ¡°Then how did you know we were the culprits and not someone else? Student Bai, could it be that you can see through walls, and see everyone who is outside the toilet?¡± The cornered students looked at each other in doubt. They had not mentioned their names or met Bai Chuwei in person before. So how did she identify them and even came looking for them so soon? Tong Qingyan gritted her teeth and immediately backed Deng Man after recovering her senses. ¡°Student Bai, what Deng Man said is reasonable. If you were locked in the toilet, how did you recognise them? Please don¡¯t¡¡± Bai Chuwei suddenly snapped her finger, interrupting Tong Qingyan. After the crisp sound of a snap was heard, Deng Man lost control and her mouth started talking without restraint. ¡°Bai Chuwei seduced Duan Xingye and Xu Xingchen by relying on her beauty. Thus, this shall serve as a little lesson to her! Let her stay inside and enjoy the scent of poop!¡± ¡°¡¡± Deng Man looked at the gaping spectators and subconsciously covered her mouth. However, it was to no avail as she had already said everything that there was to say. Bai Chuwei gently touched her chin and looked at the shocked Tong Qingyan with interest. ¡°Class monitor, did you hear that? Now, do you think that there¡¯s a need for them to apologize?¡± Chapter 35 Editor: Henyee Translations Tong Qingyan¡¯s complexion alternated between green and purple as she stood rooted in extreme embarrassment. How could she have possibly known that Deng Man and her gang committed such acts. Moreover, one of them even admitted it in public. She seriously wondered if they had a screw loose or not! Tong Qingyan returned to her seat in silence. Deng Man looked at Bai Chuwei in horror but pretended to be calm and composed. ¡°Isn¡¯t it just a little fight between students in the toilet. Student Bai, aren¡¯t you being too serious here that you can¡¯t even afford to take a joke?¡± Bai Chuwei retorted. ¡°A joke can only be considered a joke when both of us are laughing.¡± Deng Man and her group¡¯s expressions were rather ugly and they noticed their classmates agreeing with Bai Chuwei. Just as she wanted to quibble, a rough and familiar sounding voice exploded. ¡°Who! Who was the one who tied a mop to the door in the girls toilet?¡± The teacher-in-charge of Year 3 classes was a chubby lady in her forties. She was dressed in a formal attire and was currently shouting angrily at the door. When the students saw that Teacher Huang was approaching, all of them immediately covered their mouths and started whispering. ¡°Have you heard of it? Teacher Huang has stomach issues and frequently suffers from diarrhea.¡± ¡°Oh f*ck, could it be that Teacher Huang didn¡¯t manage to hold back and¡¡± ¡°¡¡± Teacher Huang became dizzy with anger. She did suffer from recurring diarrhea, especially whenever her stomach was exposed to cold air. Today, she rushed to the girls toilet to relieve herself and coincidentally, most of the cubicles were under repair. As for the remaining toilet that was in working condition, a mop was tied onto the door and she was unable to undo the knot Ultimately, she could no longer hold back and¡ These bunch of students! Every single one of them was uneducated and rebellious. She shouted sternly. ¡°Who is the culprit? You had better stand up!¡± Deng Man and her gang shivered from fright and walked out from their seats with their heads lowered. Their faces were as white as paper and they looked at Bai Chuwei in resentment and confusion. Teacher Huang had mentioned that the mop was still tied to the door, so how did Bai Chuwei get out? Oh my god, oh my god! Could it be that Bai Chuwei was an evil spirit? Teacher Huang trembled in anger and said, ¡°Deng Man? It¡¯s you and your group, again? Before you start your self-revision tonight, hand over a 3000-word reflection essay. Not a single word less!¡± Deng Man and her gang¡¯s expression turned even paler and their knees went soft. As Year 3 students, they had a huge load of homework to complete. The increment of a handwritten 3000 word self reflection essay was too much. Oh gosh, they were in deep sh*t. Their hands would definitely be crippled by the end of it. ¡°You¡¯re unhappy about it? If so, then immediately get your parents to visit the school!¡± Deng Man bit her lips and maintained silence in unwillingness. Teacher Huang who was still furious glanced at Bai Chuwei and said rudely, ¡°Which class are you from? Hurry and return to your classroom!¡± Bai Chuwei responded calmly. ¡°They are yet to apologize.¡± Deng Man and her gang had an unsightly expression as they lowered their heads and stiffly apologized. One by one, they said, ¡°I¡¯m¡ I¡¯m sorry.¡± Only then, was Bai Chuwei satisfied. She gave Bai Yinyin a meaningful glance before she left the classroom. Bai Yinyin finally looked up with great difficulty while feeling fearful. Bai Chuwei wasn¡¯t trying to teach Deng Man and her gang a lesson. She was punishing them as an example to warn her. How ruthless of her! Tong Qingyan, who was seated together with the smarter students looked at Deng Man and her gang, who were almost in tears. After that, she glanced at Bai Yinyin, and her sculpted brows knitted together. A thought suddenly surfaced in her mind. Aunt always said that men like obedient and gentle women and Bai Chuwei had bullied the other students in such a forceful manner. If the fourth young master were to know of it¡ She bit her lips and secretly took out the phone in her drawer, and sent a message to Duan Feihan who was pinned at the top of her chat list.1 * Bai Chuwei and the furious Teacher Huang had come out of the classroom together. Teacher Huang was unaware of Bai Chuwei¡¯s grades and had only heard that she was from Class 9. Therefore, she assumed that she was a smart student and hence took a more amicable approach towards her. Bai Chuwei thought for a moment before taking out a small, blue patterned, white porcelain vase. She said with a smile, ¡°Teacher Huang, this is a gift for you that you can eat whenever your stomach feels sick. I¡¯ll be returning to Class 9 now.¡± Teacher Huang looked on as Bai Chuwei took her leave. She smelled a fragrant scent the moment she opened the lid and happily muttered to herself. ¡°They¡¯re already in Year 3, but still carry candies like childrens.¡± Chapter 36 Editor: Henyee Translations Even though Teacher Huang had a short temper, she was rather popular with the students and would often receive small gifts on Teacher¡¯s Day. Therefore, she thought that these were normal candies that Bai Chuwei had gifted her. The fragrance was so tempting that she swallowed her saliva. However, when she recalled her toothache, she restrained herself and carried it back with her to the office. When she returned to her desk and saw her soiled pants that stunk of poop, her expression darkened. Thankfully she had a spare set of pants which she changed into earlier. She immediately threw the dirty trousers into the trash can. * Bai Chuwei came out of Class 11 and entered through Class 9 backdoor. Just as she walked in, she saw Duan Xingye winking at her and an eerie sneer could be heard from the podium. ¡°Your lackluster grade is pulling down the class average and you dare to skip class? You¡¯re really something else!¡± Bai Chuwei turned towards the language teacher, Mrs. Li, and smiled as she corrected her. ¡°Teacher Li, I believe my grades are rather good and if I had honestly skipped class, I doubt you will see me inside the class right now.¡± Duan Xingye quickly winked at Xu Xingchen and hastily added. ¡°That¡¯s right, it¡¯s only considered tardiness at most. Weiwei only joined the school yesterday and she might have lost her way.¡± Xu Xingchen also smiled and said, ¡°Teacher Li, Student Bai is a transfer student and we should give her a little more time to adapt.¡± All the female students in class were secretly cursing her. ¡°Vixen!¡± To think that Duan Xingye and Xu Xingchen had spoken on her behalf together! Duan Xingye was from the Duan Family, a century old wealthy family, and Xu Xingchen was an outstanding student. Teacher Li could not possibly harp on the issue with both of them speaking up for the girl and so, she merely said in a mean tone, ¡°Take a good look at your language paper when you sit down. If there is a repeat of such marks, please get out of this class. Class 9 only accepts the best students!¡± Bai Chuwei raised her brows in curiosity as she returned to her seat and saw the language test paper on her table. There were numerous bright red crosses all over the test paper. As it was a simulated classroom test, ninety marks were considered as a full score as there was no need for them to write a composition that was worth sixty marks. She had obtained fifty-two marks out of ninety marks. Her grades were not considered extremely bad, but within Class 9, she was at the bottom of the list. Duan Xingye leaned over to look at Bai Chuwei¡¯s test papers. After some moment of silence, he finally found a praiseworthy point and said with difficulty, ¡°Actually¡ your handwriting is pretty.¡± Bai Chuwei¡¯s smile was distorted. Did Duan Xingye mean to say that throughout the entire test paper, only her handwriting was worth looking at? Bai Chuwei stared at the test paper where there were some questions with zero marks given. ¡°Analyze what the author was thinking at that point in time, based on the scenery depicted in the last couplet of this poem.¡± The answer which she wrote was: ¡°There¡¯s no special meaning. Old Li was drunk at that time and casually wrote that to act cool.¡± ¡°In chapter 15 of ¡®Memory of the Mountain Moonlight¡¯, in the scene ¡®Banquet of the Mountain, Sea and Sky¡¯, Yue Ji attended the banquet in a white embroidered and plain dress. Please analyze why did the author plan for Yue Ji to dress up in this way? Please explain the meaning behind it.¡± Her answer was: ¡°There¡¯s no special meaning. It was just written casually.¡± Duan Xingye wanted to cover his face. What kind of answers were these? How was she to score marks with such answers? Bai Chuwei was feeling complex at this moment. Old Li was indeed drunk when he wrote the poem, and it was written purely to act cool. There was no hidden meaning behind it. For the question on ¡®Memory of the Mountain Moonlight¡¯, the Banquet of the Mountain, Sea and Sky was one of the climax scenes and Yue Ji was the female lead of the novel. However, Yue Ji¡¯s clothing description was added merely to hit the word count quota and earn the manuscript fee. There was really no hidden meaning! Bai Chuwei looked at those bright red crosses all over her test paper and fell into a state of self-doubt. Could it be that as the author, she did not understand her books better than these experts from the latter generation? Chapter 37 Editor: Henyee Translations This was simply¡ ridiculous! If this was not overinterpretation, then what was it? While she was surfing the internet during the past few days, she learned that the eunuch novel which she randomly wrote two hundred years ago, ¡®Memory of the Mountain Moonlight¡¯, had actually started up a school of thought that was named, ¡®Mountain Moonlight Academy¡¯. There were several university professions researching the particular novel. Yes, they were definitely overthinking this. Perhaps sensing Bai Chuwei¡¯s complicated emotions, Duan Xingye pushed his test papers towards her so that she could see the answers which he had written. Even though Duan Xingye was a silly cannon fodder male character, he was able to enter Class 9 and that meant his grades were pretty good. Bai Chuwei took a glimpse at his paper and suddenly, her lips twitched. Question: There are two trees outside the wall. One is a Jujube Tree, and the other is also a Jujube Tree. Please analyze the meaning1. Duan Xingye answered in this way: It expresses the author¡¯s loneliness. The author felt very dull and isolated¡¡± This question was worth four marks and Duan Xingye wrote a total of three lines worth of detailed analysis. Thus, successfully obtaining all four marks. Bai Chuwei: ¡ The truth was, she had been drunk and wanted to increase the word count to hit the quota. How did all these deep meanings come about?! Duan Xingye noticed Bai Chuwei¡¯s dark gaze and assumed that she was envious. He tried to comfort her. ¡°Practice more on answering techniques and you can also answer these questions. Oh right, I¡¯ll give this to you.¡± Duan Xingye took out a book from his drawer and passed it to her as if he was offering her a treasure. ¡°This is the first classic masterpiece, ¡®Memory of the Mountain Moonlight¡¯, and a must test topic in our language examinations. Weiwei, you have to study it thoroughly.¡± Bai Chuwei was itching to slam her head against the wall. Why should she study the eunuch novel which she had written herself??!! * It was lesson time and Teacher Li stood at the podium as she analyzed the language test. She would also look at Bai Chuwei with a cold gaze from time to time. The remaining classes were either taking tests or doing self-study. In Class 11, Deng Man and her gang had bitter expressions on their faces as they racked their brains to write a 3000-word reflection essay. Tong Qingyan was somewhat absentminded. Even though she was answering the test paper, she would secretly take out her phone from time to time. Every time she glanced at her screen, her disappointment increased. Why hadn¡¯t the fourth young master replied? Could it be he had no spare time to check his phone while working? Or he did not wish to reply after having seen her message? In fact, Duan Feihan had indeed, not used his phone. Inside the conference room, a man was seated in the main seat while leaning against a 360 degree rotating office chair. With a fountain pen in his hand, he quietly listened to the reports. The person speaking was a department manager, a middle-aged man in his forties. He was sweating profusely and had barely managed to finish his report while stuttering under the steady gaze of Duan Feihan. Duan Feihan raised his brow and looked at him. He had no idea why his employees were so afraid to see him. With a knock, his assistant entered the room with a cup and there was an odd expression on his face. ¡°President Duan, here¡¯s your coffee.¡± Duan Feihan nodded and reached out for the cup which was in the shape of a chubby white hamster. It looked cartoonish and adorable. He took a sip from it and revealed a satisfied expression. Everyone in the conference room: !!! Oh my god, had they gone blind? Where did President Duan get that cup from? Such a cartoonish cup was a complete mismatch with Duan Feihan¡¯s stern personality. Duan Feihan looked up at his employees whose jaw was about to drop from shock and said, ¡°That¡¯s all for today¡¯s meeting. I have an appointment this evening.¡± He had plans with Bai Chuwei to purchase medicinal ingredients together. He looked away from everyone¡¯s surprised gaze and grabbed his phone that had been on silent mode. When he unlocked it, he saw Tong Qingyan¡¯s message that was sent quite some time ago. He was disinterested in Tong Qingyna¡¯s message and had no intentions to reply. However, he suddenly saw the words, ¡®Student Bai Chuwei¡¯ and thus paused for a second before opening the chat. The more he read, the deeper his frown became¡ Chapter 38 Editor: Henyee Translations After the bell rang, Bai Chuwei ignored Teacher Li¡¯s cold glances and calmly took out her phone from the drawer and pressed the answer button. ¡°Hello?¡± Just as Teacher Li was leaving with the lesson materials in hand, she saw Bai Chuwei and her expression darkened. Even though the school forbade Year 3 students from bringing their phones to school, there were too many wealthy students and they could only close their eyes towards their behaviour. However, she had never seen such an arrogant student who answered her phone before the teacher had left the classroom! Teacher Li snorted before leaving. A man¡¯s deep voice slowly sounded from the opposite end. ¡°Miss Bai.¡± Bai Chuwei never expected to receive a call from Duan Feihan at this time. Her fingers gently tapped on her phone and when she saw Duan Xingye¡¯s surprised gaze, she made a guess. ¡°Why is Mr Duan calling me at this time? Could it be¡ you¡¯re afraid that I might change my mind?¡± After all, the prescription was still in her hands. Duan Feihan was silent for several seconds before he said slowly, ¡°Miss Bai, I know what happened in school today. Be it in your studies or lifestyle, if you are in need of any assistance, I can help.¡± Bai Chuwei was stunned for quite some time before she realized that he was referring to the clash between her and Deng Man. Bai Chuwei could not help but sigh. ¡°Mr Duan, you are a really kind and helpful person. Thank you for your offer, but I¡¯ve already resolved that issue.¡± Duan Xingye, who was seated nearby, thought his ears had failed him. His fourth uncle was a kind and helpful person? What the f*ck! Everyone in the Duan Family knew that Duan Feihan hated trouble the most and his relationship with others was also the weakest. Duan Xingye pondered for a moment but could not understand Duan Feihan¡¯s actions. He could only assume it to be¡ the deep love between his uncle and his grandfather. Duan Feihan sat before his office table and gazed at the cartoonish cup and slightly curled his lips. ¡°I understand. See you after your lessons.¡± Bai Chuwei, who had hung up the phone, sighed with myriads of emotions. Before the novel¡¯s ultimate boss turned evil, he was really a kindhearted and nice man. To think that she had a slight prejudice towards villains. * With a cold expression, Teacher Li walked into the office on her high-heels and saw Teacher Huang sitting there. Teacher Huang currently had a pair of glasses on and was grading the students¡¯ homework. Teacher Li said impatiently, ¡°Teacher Huang, should we have that Bai Chuwei transfer to another class? Her results are too lackluster and she¡¯s pulling down Class 9 with her!¡± Teacher Huang chuckled and took off her glasses. ¡°She has just arrived here. You ought to give her some time to adapt. Come and have a candy that Bai Chuwei gave me and calm down.¡± Li Juan¡¯s line of sight fell onto the white porcelain bottle on Teacher Huang¡¯s table. When she reached out and opened the cap, a faint fragrance wafted from the bottle and caused her to swallow her saliva. The milk-white candy immediately melted and the sweet fragrance flooded into her mouth. Teacher Li¡¯s eyes brightened and she could not help but reach out for a few more candies from the porcelain bottle as she stuffed them all into her mouth. Li Juan¡¯s eyes curved into crescent moons. ¡°This candy is really yummy, and it somewhat makes my stomach feel more comfortable.¡± When she said that, she scoffed at the same time. ¡°She doesn¡¯t study hard and only knows how to give candies to teachers!¡± As the bell just rang, the respective teachers returned to the office, one after another. A young male teacher who had several books in his hand, saw Teacher Li leaning against Teacher Huang¡¯s table and eating candies. His gaze froze and an expression of horror surfaced on his face. ¡°Wait a minute, Teacher Li. The thing you have in your hand¡¡± Chapter 39 Editor: Henyee Translations The young teacher came over in a flash and snatched the porcelain bottle from Li Juan¡¯s hands. He dropped the books he was holding and carefully scrutinized the bottle in his hands. His expression became increasingly complicated. Li Juan was taken aback by his actions. She asked curiously. ¡°Teacher Zhao, what¡¯s wrong with these candies? Are they some super expensive brand?¡± Majority of the students were from wealthy families and Li Juan had received enough internationally branded candies from her students. However, she had never seen Teacher Zhao with such an expression on his face. The young teacher taught history and had a postgraduate degree from a famous university. Moreover, it was said that both his father and grandfather were archaeology and history researchers. To sum it up, he had a profound family background. Teacher Zhao¡¯s expression became increasingly stunned as he muttered to himself. ¡°The craftsmanship of this porcelain bottle is similar to the smelting technique that has been lost for centuries. Take a look at the fine pattern on this bottle. Only a professional craftsman can identify it. Oh my god¡ I¡¯ve only seen this in books!¡± The other teachers inside the office had also gathered around in curiosity. Li Juan was in disbelief. ¡°Teacher Zhou, so this is an imitation?¡± Teacher Zhao carefully placed down the bottle and sent a few photos to his grandfather. His voice was rather agitated. ¡°Imitation? This craftsmanship has not been revealed until today. It¡¯s impossible to replicate it!¡± All of them were awed when they heard that. Teacher Zhao opened the bottle and a faint fragrance rose up from within. ¡°These don¡¯t seem to be candies, but medicine instead.¡± Just as Teacher Zhao said that, a knock came at the door and a woman in her thirties walked in. The woman walked towards Teacher Huang and said, ¡°Teacher Huang, I am Zhou Feng¡¯s wife. I¡¯m here on his behalf to sort out some information.¡± The attention of all the teachers was instantly shifted to her. Someone asked her. ¡°I believe Teacher Zhou¡¯s illness would at least require a few years to recover?¡± Another teacher chipped in. ¡°But I heard that Teacher Zhou¡¯s condition has changed for the better? If you need any help, do tell.¡± Zhou Feng¡¯s wife packed his belongings and said with a smile, ¡°My husband mentioned that Bai Chuwei had pricked him with a few needles and gave him some sort of panacea which has helped him to recover rapidly. He¡¯ll be able to return to work after one week of rest.¡± Zhou Feng would be able to return so soon? Didn¡¯t he have some sort of a brain tumour? Zhou Feng¡¯s wife turned to look at the shocked teachers and took out a pile of material. ¡°Teacher huang, this is some maths learning materials that Zhou Feng burned midnight oil to organize for Bai Chuwei. Please help me to pass it to her as a token of his thanks for her help.¡± Zhou Feng had recalled that Bai Chuwei did not have any records of achievement and assumed that she might be bad in her studies. Therefore, he had worked really hard to organize some valuable materials from recent years and asked his wife to deliver it on his behalf. Teacher Huang gulped and stared at Zhou Feng¡¯s wife in shock. She knew that Teacher Zhou had been forced to take leave to recuperate due to his fainting incident. However, she never expected his condition to turn for the better due to Bai Chuwei! Could it be that she was really an expert in medical skills? Is that how did Bai Chuwei get to know of her condition? Could it be that her eyes had the X-ray feature? In addition, she was so skilled at such a young age? Teacher Huang stood rooted on the spot. All of a sudden, Bai Chuwei¡¯s previous words surfaced in her mind. ¡°Teacher Huang, this is a gift for you. You can eat it when your stomach feels sick.¡± This was¡ medicine? They weren¡¯t sweets? Teacher Huang had been suffering from diarrhea for more than half a year and even visited several doctors, but to no avail. It had caused her to suffer unspeakably. Her eyes instantly reddened and she rushed to grab the porcelain bottle. When she took a look at the contents, she was stupefied and yelled loudly. ¡°WHY ARE THERE ONLY THREE REMAINING!?¡± Chapter 40 Editor: Henyee Translations Li Juan awkwardly stood in her place and remained silent. She had found those candies really yummy and so¡ she ate most of them! Teacher Huang roared in anger. ¡°Teacher Li, didn¡¯t I offer you only one candy? Why did you finish everything? Why are you such a glutton? These are medicinal pills. Is there a need to eat so many?¡± Li Juan felt like disappearing into the ground. ¡°I, Teacher Huang, I¡¡± Teacher Huang glanced at the trash can which was outside the room and her eyes turned red. She had been humiliated due to her diarrhea, multiple times and the students always mocked her for not being able to hold back! Teacher Huang moistened her lips and immediately went towards Class 9 with the learning materials that Zhou Feng had prepared for Bai Chuwei. Her actions caused the teachers inside the office to be dumbstruck. When the rowdy students inside Class 9 saw Teacher Huang dashing in with a pile of materials, they scurried back to their seats in fright. ¡°What the heck, Teacher Huang seems to be getting more ferocious! She¡¯s coming in for a surprise inspection even after class?¡± One of the male students, who was copying homework felt fearful. ¡°Oh my god, I was frightened out of my wits¡± ¡°¡¡± Teacher Huang walked towards Bai Chuwei with the learning materials. The latter took off her earphones leisurely before looking at Teacher Huang and said with a smile, ¡°How can I help you?¡± The whole class: !! Oh my god, kudos to her! Teacher Huang came in for a surprise inspection and Bai Chuwei was still in the mood to take off her ear phones in front of her? Gao Qiaoqiao said in a soft and gloating voice, ¡°Bai Chuwei¡¯s phone will definitely be confiscated!¡± When Teacher Huang saw Bai Chuwei¡¯s smile, she turned red in embarrassment. ¡°Erm, student Bai. The candies that you gave me in the morning¡ oh I mean medicine, do you still have any remaining?¡± Bai Chuwei raised her brow and immediately knew what happened when their eyes met. She smiled and took out an identical porcelain bottle from her small embroidered satchel and gave it to her. Teacher Huang was really happy and excited as she put down the pile of materials from her hands to the table. She took the bottle with both hands and carefully kept it into her pocket. She then gestured at the pile of materials towards Bai Chuwei and said, ¡°These are the maths learning materials which Teacher Zhou has organized for you.¡± The smile on Bai Chuwei¡¯s gradually stiffened. There was honestly no need for this as she disliked studying. Just as Teacher Huang was about to leave the classroom, a female student spoke out loudly with injustice in her voice. ¡°Teacher Huang, Bai Chuwei was using her phone just a moment ago. Why didn¡¯t you confiscate it?¡± Teacher Huang stared blankly at her for a moment and then suddenly recalled something. She pointed at several students and shouted. ¡°You, you, and you. Hand over your phones and game consoles! Don¡¯t think that I didn¡¯t see them!¡± The entire class: ¡.? What the f*ck? Was there a need for such blatant discrepancy in treatment? Gao Qiaoqiao was forced to hand over her game console and while feeling unfair, she said, ¡°Why didn¡¯t you confiscate Bai Chuwei¡¯s?¡± Bai Chuwei swung her earpiece back into her ear and her lips curled up. ¡°I¡¯m revising listening comprehension.¡± After she said that, Bai Chuwei pulled out her earphones and a listening comprehension with english accent could be heard. The entire class: She was really listening to english comprehension? Teacher Huang confiscated several phones and left the classroom in satisfaction. Duan Xingye immediately approached Bai Chuwei and looked at her. ¡°Weiwei, what did you give Teacher Huang?¡± Bai Chuwei packed her bag and shook her head. Duan Xingye revealed a pitiful expression. ¡°Why can¡¯t you give me a bottle as well? Is it very expensive?¡± Bai Chuwei carried her empty bag and walked out of the classroom before she said, ¡°It¡¯s not expensive, one bottle costs around a hundred thousand yuan. However, those without any illness will vomit and get diarrhea if they were to consume it.¡± Duan Xingye: What? A hundred thousand yuan was inexpensive? Was it made of gold? He stared blankly at the empty seat for a moment and thought to himself. ¡°In order to go on a date with my fourth uncle, Weiwei is skipping class??¡± Chapter 41 Editor: Henyee Translations Henghua Secondary School¡¯s self-revision in the evening was voluntary, but due to their upcoming university entrance exam, all the students attended it by default. However, who knew that Bai Chuwei would run away from it! Most of the students were doing self-revision when Bai Chuwei walked past the corridor with her empty school bag slung on her shoulder. A gentle male voice suddenly sounded from behind her. ¡°Student Bai Chuwei.¡± Bai Chuwei stopped and turned to see Xu Xingchen running towards her direction. He had a pair of long and slender legs, outstanding appearance and together with his gentle smile, he looked like the male god. Xu Xingchen ran towards her and the corner of his outerwear fluttered in the wind. When both of them stood side by side, it seemed to form a pretty picture. Duan Feihan had driven into the school in his car when he saw the scene through his car¡¯s window. His eyes gradually darkened. Xu Xingchen asked while panting. ¡°Student Bai, is there anything you are unable to adapt to, in school? Is that why you aren¡¯t staying for the evening self-revision? If you need any help, you can tell me.¡± Bai Chuwei sized up Xu Xingchen with interest. As expected of the male lead, it was no wonder that he could attract bees and butterflies around him with his behavior. She then answered in all honesty. ¡°There¡¯s nothing I¡¯m uncomfortable with. I¡¯m going on a date.¡± Xu Xingchen was stunned for a moment and nearly thought his ears were playing tricks on him. Student Bai Chuwei was going on a date, therefore she was not attending the evening self-revision? He awkwardly said with a smile, ¡°Then I shall not disturb you¡¡± Bai Chuwei stood in place and casually swept the flower petals which had fallen on her head and called out to Xu Xingchen. ¡°Class representative, do you like me?¡± Xu Xingchen had not expected her to be so straightforward. However, how could he possibly like Bai Chuwei? Without a doubt, she was beautiful and her demeanor was incomparable to others. However, she gave off a feeling that she was someone who could not be controlled. Xu Xingchen replied with a smile. ¡°Student Bai, you¡¯re mistaken.¡± Bai Chuwei was aware that Xu Xingchen would belong to Tong Qingyan in the future and would not fall in love with any girl at this point in time. Bai Chuwei took out the heel sticker from her bag and stuffed it into his hands as she said, ¡°Class representative, even though it is good to appear warm-hearted and kind, but be careful lest it bites you in the back. A central air-conditioner would attract hate all around.¡± Xu Xingchen¡¯s smile gradually stiffened. His eyes stared fixedly at the heel sticker in his hand and his lips turned pale. He had been nice to all the female students which resulted in their interest towards him. He hoped that in future, all of them would become fruitful connections for him. He would not even give a second glance to someone who had no use to him in the future. But he was careful enough to not let anyone figure out his behavior. However¡ Bai Chuwei seems to have seen through his thoughts. Bai Chuwei went around Xu Xingchen and calmly walked forward before stopping in front of a black car. Just as she was about to open the door, she suddenly saw Duan Feihan¡¯s chilly gaze staring at Xu Xingchen from afar. She could not help but sigh deep down. Duan Feihan was indeed the villainous character in the plot. He would start a huge fight with the male lead, Xu Xingchen in the future. The scenario had only started and Duan Feihan already disliked him. Bai Chuwei slid in the front seat and asked curiously while she fastened her seat belt. ¡°Mr. Duan, you didn¡¯t bring in your driver today?¡± In the original novel, Duan Feihan would usually ask the driver to take him around. Duan Feihan¡¯s gaze gradually darkened and he hummed noncommittally. After he saw Bai Chuwei seated properly, he drove out of the school compound. The black car moved rather slowly and quietly drove past rows of large trees planted on the sides of the driveway. Xu Xingchen stood rooted on the ground and unconsciously clenched his fists. His eyes had turned red. Supposedly, supposedly he was also someone from the Duan Family¡ However, Duan Feihan and Duan Xingye could enjoy everything that the Duan Family provided, but he had to work hard to plan his future. The heavens were really unfair. Chapter 42 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei fiddled around with her pitch-black hair out of boredom while sitting in the car. All of a sudden, she smiled and asked. ¡°Mr. Duan, are you the official successor of the Duan Family?¡± Duan Feihan did not understand why she had asked that question, but he answered with indifference. ¡°You can say so.¡± The Duan Family had been expanding rather swiftly under his management and it would soon surpass the other eight great aristocratic families in China. Bai Chuwei merely smiled in response. In the original novel, Duan Feihan was recognized as the rightful successor at the start. However, Xu Xingchen entered the family in the future and obtained old man Duan¡¯s favor, snatching away his position as the heir. It was no wonder that Duan Feihan turned into a villain. The company that he had developed was seized by the male lead. Anyone in his position would be unwilling to accept that. When Bai Chuwei thought of how Xu Xingchen treated the original owner of her body in the original novel, she had the urge to crush his head. However, if the male lead were to die, how was the plot supposed to progress? Duan Feihan¡¯s low voice suddenly arose in the car, piercing her thoughts. ¡°Miss Bai, are we going to the Spiritual Medicine Hall to purchase medicinal ingredients?¡± Spiritual Medicine Hall was the largest place in Sea City that sold traditional chinese ingredients. The traditional medicine expert, Liu Zhen was also the medicine hall¡¯s in-charge. Bai Chuwei nodded and looked on as Duan Feihan drove to the Spiritual Medicine Hall. The moment she stepped into one of the outlets, she saw rows of brown-colored drawers with all sorts of different labels. There was a strong scent of bitterness inside the place. ¡°Welcome, how can I help you? What medicine are you looking for? Do you have a prescription?¡± The boss walked up and welcomed them warmly. Then he said with a smile, ¡°We have everything here.¡± Bai Chuwei smiled in response. ¡°Do you have ginseng?¡± The boss¡¯s eyes brightened and he served them even more enthusiastically. ¡°Ginseng? Yes, yes, we do have it! Are you looking at manually cultivated ginseng or wild ginseng? Around how many years old, are you looking at?¡± ¡°Do you have wild ginseng that is a hundred years old?¡± The boss gasped and said, ¡°Yes.¡± Today was most probably a huge business day! Bai Chuwei raised her gaze and with a wave of her hand, she said with generosity, ¡°Very good. Give me ten catties¡ oh wait, ten kilograms of hundred year old wild ginseng!¡± When the elated boss heard what she said, his eyes widened and his legs nearly went soft. ¡°Miss, are you joking with me?¡± Ten kilograms? Did she think that she was buying cabbage in a market? Bai Chuwei raised her brows and looked towards Duan Feihan. Immediately after, he took out a black card from his suit pocket. Boss: ¡? Oh my god, was she for real? The boss was speechless. He clapped his hands and said with helplessness, ¡°Miss, I do wish to do your business, but how could we possibly have ten kilograms of hundred years old, wild ginseng here? How about this¡¡± The boss observed Bai Chuwei¡¯s expression and continued to say respectfully, ¡°Why don¡¯t you and your boyfriend wait here for a bit. I¡¯ll immediately contact all our outlets to gather the required amount, hmm?¡± Bai Chuwei did not bother to pay attention to the first part of his sentence, and merely continued with her order. ¡°In that case, I¡¯ll give you a list of medicinal ingredients. Give me ten kilos of everything in that list.¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s eyes gradually darkened. When the boss received the list and took a look at it, his legs nearly crumbled. Oh my god, every single one of these medicinal ingredients was extremely precious and based on the quantity needed, it would cost at least two hundred million. The boss¡¯s mouth trembled along with his moustache. He gulped noisily and asked her. ¡°Dear customers, are you serious?¡± Duan Feihan calmly nodded and said, ¡°Prepare it according to her request. Money is not a problem.¡± Oh my god, this was a classic example of blatant show off of wealth! The little miss was acting wilfully and yet, the boyfriend had allowed her to behave as she pleased. In any case, he was rich and capable of doting on her! The boss excitedly slapped his thigh and said, ¡°May the both of you live a long and happy life together. I¡¯ll immediately prepare the items!¡± Chapter 43 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei: May the both of you live a long and happy life together?? Bai Chuwei glanced at Duan Feihan. He was standing outside the entrance and his expression was normal. Tsk¡ he was indeed the future villain. His ability to remain calm in unexpected situations was really good! The boss¡¯s cheeks were flushed due to excitement and he dashed out of the shop with the order list. He stood in the middle of the plaza with a loudspeaker and yelled loudly. ¡°Attention! Come immediately and prepare medicinal ingredients. A huge business just came in, a huge business!¡± All the different suppliers in the Spiritual Medicine Hall were shocked and the place turned into a state of commotion. Most importantly¡ that black card belonged to the Duan Family! An illustrious family was not going to scam them. Bai Chuwei and Duan Feihan were warmly received by the staff and the apprentices enthusiastically delivered tea to them. Bai Chuwei took a sip from her cup and gave a sidelong glance to the man next to her. ¡°Mr Duan, aren¡¯t you curious?¡± ¡°No.¡± The man rubbed the sandalwood Buddha beads on his left wrist, whose pattern was soon about to disappear due to frequent rubbing. He said in a low voice, ¡°Miss Bai, you can spend as much as you wish.¡± Duan Feihan was someone who had been involved in business for quite some time. How could he possibly not know the problem about Bai Chuwei¡¯s list? There were hundreds of different types of medicinal ingredients and every single one of them was precious. Moreover, she had requested ten kilograms of every item. Bai Chuwei¡¯s smile gradually deepened. All of a sudden, she put down the tea cup and drew closer to the man¡¯s handsome face. The breath she exhaled could be felt on his face. Duan Feihan¡¯s expression changed slightly and he shifted his gaze away. ¡°Mr Duan has so much trust in me? Aren¡¯t you afraid that I might harm your father by giving an incorrect prescription?¡± The young lady¡¯s breath whispered against his face and a faint medicinal fragrance seemed to entice him. Duan Feihan¡¯s palm on his thigh had tightened unconsciously, wrinkling his neat and tidy trousers. Duan Feihan articulated in a clear voice as he said, ¡°I trust you.¡± Bai Chuwei looked at the man¡¯s calm and handsome face, but she could nor discern any sort of emotion from him. However, she noticed that the tips of his ear had turned red. Aww! He was still as adorable as he had been in his young age. The cold-looking little boy was awkward and proud at the same time, but had pretended to look calm. At that time, with great difficulty, he had made himself sound casual. ¡°Since you want a hug, I¡¯ll let you give me one.¡± The image of this tall and attractive man in front of her overlapped in Bai Chuwei¡¯s mind with that of the adorable little kid from her memories. Instantly, the alienation she felt towards him, lessened. ¡°Miss Bai?¡± Bai Chuwei recovered and curled her red lips. ¡°There¡¯s no need to call me by that name anymore.¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s expression changed and an unknown warm current surged from his heart and his thin lips moved. ¡°Then I¡¯ll call you¡¡± Before he could manage to say, ¡®Weiwei¡¯, Bai Chuwei had said, ¡°Call me sister.¡±1 That was what this adorable little kid called her in the past. Regardless of how Duan Xiuqi tried to correct him and coax him to call her ¡®sister-in-law¡¯, he only called her ¡®sister¡¯. Duan Feihan: ¡ Duan Feihan¡¯s usual calm and composed face suddenly cracked and he was momentarily stunned. What? Sister? He was twenty-four this year and Bai Chuwei seemed to be of the same age as Duan Xingye, which meant that she had yet to reach the age of eighteen! Just as Bai Chuwei and Duan Feihan gazes clashed, a medical apprentice came running in. When he saw the close proximity and the ambiguous atmosphere around, he was slightly embarrassed. In an awkward voice, he said, ¡°Sorry for disturbing your uh, personal time, but something has happened.¡± Bai Chuwei¡¯s attention was pulled away by that medical apprentice. She furrowed her brows as she asked. ¡°What¡¯s the problem?¡± The apprentice hastily said, ¡°It¡¯s about the Four Season Spring on the list you gave us. Only Liuji Medicine Hall has that ingredient, but they are unwilling to sell it.¡± Bai Chuwei frowned and asked him again. ¡°There¡¯s someone who rejects business?¡± Just as she said that, a sneering female voice sounded from outside. ¡°Bai Chuwei, we won¡¯t sell that medicinal ingredient to you!¡± Deng Manli walked into the shop with her bag and looked at Bai Chuwei in triumph. Chapter 44 Editor: Henyee Translations Deng Man and her gang finally managed to finish the three thousand word self-reflection essay which had been the punishment from Teacher Huang. She had cried as her hands were almost crippled when she finished with the task. Feeling too tired to do anything else, she skipped the evening self-study session and went home with her schoolbag. Her father was an apprentice of Liu Zhen, one of the renowned masters of chinese medicine. He had opened Liuji Medicine Hall under the banner of Liu Zhen. If she said that they would not sell the ingredient, who would dare to go against her? Deng Man crossed her arms and looked at Bai Chuwei arrogantly. In a smug voice, she announced loudly. ¡°In the entire Sea City, only Liuji Medicine Hall sells Four Season Spring. Unfortunately, I¡¯m in a bad mood today and I don¡¯t feel like selling it to you.¡± Even though the Deng Family was not extremely wealthy, no one in the entire Henghua Secondary School dared to offend her. Everyone knew that her father was Liu Zhen¡¯s apprentice, and he was someone who was extremely protective of his own. Therefore, offending her was indirectly offending Liu Zhen. All humans ate grains and were bound to fall sick someday. Who knew if a time would come where they needed help from Liu Zhen? However, Bai Chuwei suddenly appeared out of nowhere and the slut dared to bully her! Now that she had the upper hand, Deng Man wanted Bai Chuwei to cry and beg for forgiveness! Bai Chuwei looked at Deng Man¡¯s proud appearance and could not help but find it funny. She had lived for five thousand years and there were very few who dared to threaten her. Bai Chuwei stroked her chin with interest and stared at Deng Man as if looking at a joke. She then smiled and told the girl in front of her. ¡°This is Duan Xingye¡¯s fourth uncle, Mr. Duan Feihan.¡± Deng Man¡¯s expression underwent a change when she looked at him. When her eyes collided with Duan Feihan¡¯s chilly gaze, her heart suddenly skipped a beat and she stepped back subconsciously. This was the fourth young master of Duan Family, who dominated the business industry and had an imposing aura. Deng Man did not dare to meet Duan Feihan¡¯s gaze. She realised that she had shot herself in the foot. Who would not know Duan Feihan in Sea City? He was the one who currently led the Duan Family¡¯s business and had faint signs of overtaking the eight aristocratic families. In addition, he was a really decisive man. However, she had already declared they won¡¯t be selling the ingredient and if she were to agree now¡ Deng Man¡¯s complexion alternated between green and purple. She was really unwilling to embarrass herself. She gritted her teeth and changed the tactic. ¡°Four Season Spring is too precious and it¡¯s not something my father and I can decide to sell. You must¡ you must obtain Master Liu¡¯s approval.¡± Bai Chuwei glanced at Duan Feihan and he picked up the bag which she had thrown on one side before heading towards Liuji Medicine Hall with her. Bai Chuwei¡¯s bag felt rather empty. It didn¡¯t seem to have any weight. Duan Feihan furrowed his brows. ¡°Miss Bai, there are no books in your bag?¡± Bai Chuwei answered nonchalantly. ¡°Books? The bag only has a famous book which Duan Xingye gave me, nothing else.¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s eyes turned cold as he thought about this. ¡®A book which Duan Xingye gave her¡¡¯ They entered Liuji Medicine Hall and saw a middle-aged man sitting inside the shop. His face betrayed a nervous expression. His hands were clenched together and he kept looking towards the backyard from time to time. ¡°Dad, where¡¯s Master Liu?¡± Deng Man¡¯s father answered in concern. ¡°Teacher Liu is sleeping in the backyard.¡± Deng Man was overjoyed as she heard that and looked at Bai Chuwei and Duan Feihan in a fake apologetic manner. ¡°Student Bai, you can¡¯t blame me for this. Master Liu is currently sleeping. If you wish to purchase Four Season Spring, you can come another day.¡± Bai Chuwei did not even bother to look at her. She changed her route and walked towards the backyard. Everyone in Liuji Medicine Hall was shocked. Duan Manli, that lass chased behind Bai Chuwei and shouted. ¡°Bai Chuwei, don¡¯t go too far. I¡¯ve already said that Master Liu is sleeping!¡± On a wooden reclining chair in the backyard surrounded by a medicine garden, Liu Zhen was currently snoring and no noise could seem to wake him up. Bai Chuwei glanced at him and said immediately, ¡°Wake him up by splashing cold water on his face!¡± Everyone present there was stunned. This Bai Chuwei was crazy. She wanted to splash cold water to wake up Master Liu? Chapter 45 Editor: Henyee Translations There were plenty of apprentices in Liuji Medicine Hall, but who would dare to do so? ¡°If you don¡¯t wish for him to die, do it now!¡± All the apprentices present there were screaming internally. Those who wished to court death could go ahead and throw water on Master Liu! As a result, everyone stood rooted. No one dared move even a muscle. Bai Chuwei could not help by sigh and was just about to do it herself. All of a sudden, a silhouette flashed past her, and decisively raised the water basin from the ground, ruthlessly splashing it on the sound asleep, Liu Zhen! In an instant, Liu Zhen, who had been leaning against the wooden reclining chair, was completely drenched. Beads of water dripped from his hair and shock permeated through his body. Bai Chuwei looked at Duan Feihan, who had just thrown the empty basin to one side with an air of dignity. What the f*ck! Were they crazy? They dared to throw water on Master Liu? It was spring and the temperature was lower than average. Liu Zhen, who was drenched from head to toe, shivered like a rat and fell down from his reclining chair. He had a look of blank panic on his face. But, he was finally wide awake. After a few moments, he got up from the ground, wiped away the beads of water on his face and asked in a complicated tone. ¡°Who threw water on me?¡± Everyone standing there was about to go crazy from fright! Master Liu was a hundred and twenty years old man. What if he were to fall sick due to this incident? Deng Man was frightened to the extent that she immediately exposed the culprit. ¡°Grandpa Liu, this has nothing to do with any of us. It¡¯s¡ it¡¯s Bai Chuwei! She was the one who did it.¡± Bai Chuwei? The name grabbed Liu Zhen¡¯s attention and his eyes revealed traces of self-mocking. He looked at Bai Chuwei and his expressions changed once again! Liu Zhen seemed to have gone crazy as he continuously muttered. ¡°Great! It was a great move!¡± His nose soured and in an instant, his knees went soft. He knelt before her and said out loud in a repenting tone, ¡°Dear ancestor, I know my mistake now. I was the one who was nearsighted and offended the ancestor! I¡¯m the crazy one!¡± Liu Zhen was honestly frightened. Ever since he returned from Duan Family¡¯s residence yesterday, he kept dreaming of his teacher who had passed away numerous years ago. In the dreams, he had been pressed on the ground and was chided by his teacher constantly. Throughout the night, his teacher kept lecturing him for disrespecting Bai Chuwei and for even daring to belittle her. He had forced himself to stay awake in the morning but unexpectedly, he fell asleep due to exhaustion in the afternoon and his teacher visited him once again in his dreams. His teacher was very disappointed with him and said that he was stubborn and inflexible. In addition, he wanted to take him along so as to not offend Bai Chuwei!1 Beads of cold sweat trickled down his neck as Liu Zhen looked at Bai Chuwei in fear and awe. If¡ it weren¡¯t for that basin of water, he might have really died. Liu Zhen¡¯s mind was filled with Bai Chuwei¡¯s previous words. ¡®Don¡¯t worry. I¡¯ll let him look for you tonight.¡¯ His teacher really came that night looking for him! Liu Zhen suddenly had a feeling that he barely escaped death, and hence his gaze towards Bai Chuwei turned respectful. Everyone was dumbfounded. Did Liu Zhen go crazy? Water had been thrown on him and instead of scolding the perpetrator, he was kneeling on the ground and calling her ancestor? Bai Chuwei flipped her hair and asked him lazily. ¡°You¡¯re awake, finally? If yes, then hurry and tell me if you are willing to sell the medicinal ingredient or not.¡± Liu Zhen did not care about his drenched clothes and looked at Deng Man¡¯s father. ¡°What¡¯s the problem?¡± Deng Man hastily said, ¡°Grandpa Liu, this Bai Chuwei insists on buying Four Seasons Spring and is demanding an exorbitant amount of ten kilograms of the same!¡± Her father looked at Liu Zhen who was kneeling in front of Bai Chuwei and loud drums started beating in his heart. ¡°Teacher, are we to sell the medicinal ingredient?¡± Liu Zhen stood up and angrily yelled at Deng Man¡¯s father, with his spittle splashing all over the man¡¯s face. ¡°Sell? What the hell! Who dares to sell it?¡± Before Deng Man could gloat after listening to these words, Liu Zhen waved his hand and said to Bai Chuwei with a flattering smile, ¡°How can I possibly dare to sell things that ancestor wants? How much do you need? I¡¯ll give you as much as you require.¡± Chapter 46 Editor: Henyee Translations A complete silence enveloped the surroundings. Everyone¡¯s eyes were wide open, as if they had seen a ghost. Deng Man couldn¡¯t help but blurt out. ¡°Grandpa Liu, are you still asleep?¡± Liu Zhen was a master of chinese medicine and usually had a short fuse. On normal days, he was quite fond of his disciple¡¯s daughter, Deng Man, but for some reason, today he completely changed his nature and scolded her. ¡°Asleep? If I had continued sleeping any longer, I would¡¯ve died!¡± ¡°Little Deng, you had better take control of your daughter in the future. She ought to be studying hard in her senior Year 3, don¡¯t let her come here as often as she likes.¡± Deng Man took a step back in shock. Grandpa Liu was forbidding her from coming here in the future? Just as she wanted to argue back, her father covered her mouth. Her father had been spit on by Master Liu just a moment ago and he did not even dare to clean his face. How could he possibly allow his daughter to offend Master Liu? Bai Chuwei revealed a meaningful smile and said, ¡°Four Season Spring is a rather expensive medicinal ingredient. There¡¯s no need for you to give it for free. I¡¯ll pay for it instead.¡± But Liu Zhen cried out instantly. ¡°Dear Ancestor, I¡¯ll gift it to you! Let me give it to you! I have plenty here!¡± Before Bai Chuwei could speak any further, Liu Zhen ran towards the storefront and howled at the stunned medical apprentice. ¡°Why are you still standing here? Immediately count the remaining inventory of the Four Season Springs inside the shop and bring it all out!¡± After Master Liu issued the command, everyone started working in a frenzy. Bai Chuwei smiled and shrugged her shoulders at Deng Man. It was not her fault. It was the old man who insisted on giving it. ¡°Send all the ingredients to Liuji Medicine Hall¡¯s entrance.¡± Bai Chuwei ordered. Soon, various large medicine halls had delivered the ingredients as instructed. Liu Zhen, who had changed his clothes and was walking towards the area, was stunned by the scene before him. Was there an epidemic coming? Or was there a big sale on? Every single item was precious and expensive. Bai Chuwei raised her chin and motioned at Duan Feihan. ¡°The Four Seasons Spring is free, but we have to pay the other medicine halls.¡± That pile of medicinal ingredients finally cost Duan Feihan a total of three hundred million yuan, but he did not react in the slightest. Duan Feihan sent for a driver to deliver all the medicinal ingredients to Bai Chuwei¡¯s residence. Bai Chuwei looked at the trembling Liu Zhen and said with a smile, ¡°Don¡¯t worry, I won¡¯t let your teacher look for you again in your dreams.¡± Liu Zhen frantically nodded and trembled. He hastily sent Bai Chuwei and Duan Feihan out of the Liuji Medicine Hall. The skies were beginning to darken while Duan Feihan walked side by side with Bai Chuwei. Bai Chuwei looked up at the night sky in boredom and sighed. The sky in Sea City was way inferior compared to Yunwu Mountain where stars dotted the entire panorama. ¡°Miss Bai, these medicinal ingredients are not for my father. Am I correct?¡± The man asked her abruptly. Bai Chuwei stopped walking and looked at him while blinking her eyes. ¡°Didn¡¯t I ask you to call me sister?¡± The man¡¯s expression appeared grim as he looked at her. Bai Chuwei could only laugh as she said, ¡°Forget it, it doesn¡¯t matter if you don¡¯t wish to. You can call me as you like.¡± The two continued walking side by side and Bai Chuwei stroked her delicate jaw. After a moment, she replied with a thought-provoking smile. ¡°Those are indeed not for your father. These for my personal needs. But how did you know that?¡± The man suddenly closed the gap between them and a faint male perfume scent assaulted his nose. It was inexplicable¡ she smelled nice. Duan Feihan said in a low voice, ¡°Chuwei, there¡¯s a faint medicinal scent on you.¡± And by that, he meant that Bai Chuwei herself was sick. Both of them were in such close proximity that their shadows nearly merged into each other. Bai Chuwei¡¯s gaze suddenly flickered and she stepped back with an easy smile. ¡°Mr. Duan is very smart.¡± She had indeed conned him. The man stood straight, similar to a noble person belonging to the last century. He gazed at her and said slowly, ¡°Since I¡¯ve called you Chuwei, you can also call me by my name.¡± Chapter 47 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei looked into Duan Feihan¡¯s eyes. They were brighter than the stars and she replied rather obediently. ¡°Hanhan.¡± She slightly increased her pitch at the ending syllable, as if addressing a five year old little kid. Duan Feihan¡¯s handsome face stiffened that very second. Han¡ Hanhan? An image suddenly flashed past his eyes. There was someone who also called him that way when he was young. However, that happened too long ago and he had already forgotten that person¡¯s appearance. Bai Chuwei swung her hands and walked forward as she welcomed the spring wind. It seemed that she wanted to blend into the night. In a self-mocking tone, she said, ¡°It¡¯s unexpected right? The founder of the chinese medicine can¡¯t cure herself.¡± Ever since that man died for her sake, this illness had accompanied her. Her heart would ache from time to time and she had to consume these spiritual medicines to suppress the pain. For the past five thousand years, even she did not know how much spiritual medicine she had consumed. But fortunately, she had encountered this piece of Tang monk¡¯s flesh. Even though she did not have the hobby of consuming human flesh, it was still pretty good to soak in some spiritual energy from him. Just as Bai Chuwei was in deep thought, Duan Feihan spoke up. ¡°Chuwei, what is your condition to treat my father?¡± Bai Chuwei was initially unwilling to cure that old man Duan, but she agreed because Duan Feihan had unconditionally agreed to fulfil one request of hers. When Bai Chuwei heard that, she turned around. There was a small flame of excitement in her eyes. She opened her mouth and said in a crisp voice, ¡°Hug me.¡± Duan Feihan was shocked, and his usually expressionless, handsome face revealed an unusual look. Duan Feihan put his hands behind his back and took a deep breath with his eyes closed. After he steadied himself, he opened his eyes and said, ¡°Are you of age yet?¡± Bai Chuwei was somewhat confused as she could not keep up with Duan Feihan¡¯s pace of thoughts. What did this have to do with her age? ¡°Of course I¡¯m of age.¡± For goodness sake, she had already lived for five thousand years! The Adam¡¯s apple in Duan Feihan¡¯s neck bobbed up and down and he tried to remind her. ¡°Even though you¡¯re of age, you¡¯re still a high-school student. You should give priority to your studies.¡± What was that supposed to mean? Bai Chuwei became impatient. She had lived for too long and disliked being lectured by other people. She said in a casual but impatient tone, ¡°Just make a decision. Are you going to hug me, yes or no?¡± The man looked at her with a deep gaze, as if he was preparing himself mentally. After a full minute of silence, Duan Feihan lowered his eyes and reached out to pull Bai Chuwei¡¯s wrists. ¡°Get in the car.¡± Bai Chuwei was dragged into the car by him. After settling in, he started the car and drove into the inky night. When Bai Chuwei saw that the speeding car was heading towards the luxury hotels area, a red flush suddenly appeared on her beautiful face and she immediately asked him to stop. Bai Chuwei looked at Duan Feihan with a complicated expression and said in a sincere tone, ¡°Hanhan, you¡¯re only twenty-four. Why is your train of thoughts so complicated? The hug I meant was merely a hug.¡± Duan Feihan: ¡ Bai Chuwei sighed and continued speaking. ¡°But it seems that your feelings for your father are really deep. I didn¡¯t expect you to have even thought about repaying with your¡¡± Sounds of unbuckling could be heard and before she managed to finish her sentence, she was already in his arms. The man¡¯s strong arms went around her slender waist and the warmth from his palms could be felt through the fabric of her clothes. Duan Feihan radiated an unending stream of spiritual energy, similar to a natural reservoir. Bai Chuwei took in a deep breath and sighed. ¡°You smell so good!¡± Duan Feihan was silent for a moment before he suddenly recalled a phrase from the internet. ¡°You are such a flirt.¡± Chapter 48 Editor: Henyee Translations Ever since the world war that happened five thousand years ago, all the spiritual energy in the world had gradually thinned out. Duan Feihan, who was a walking vault of spiritual energy, was the first and only person she had seen throughout her five thousand years of living! Bai Chuwei left Duan Feihan¡¯s embrace in content. She lifted the bag near her feet and pulled open the zipper to retrieve a bag of medicinal ingredients before passing them to him. ¡°Here you go, your father¡¯s medicinal ingredients.¡± Evidently, Bai Chuwei had blatantly stolen a huge sum of money from him. As the successor of the Duan Family, he did not flinch even once for spending three hundred million yuan nor did he reveal any traces of heartache. Duan Feihan¡¯s hands were crossed together as he calmly asked. ¡°Chuwei, what¡¯s inside your bag?¡± Bai Chuwei took out the book in response and said, ¡°It is a book called ¡®Memory of the Mountain Moonlight¡¯. I am told that it¡¯s a must read book for the entrance examination. Duan Xingye gave it to me.¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s slender and jade-like fingers suddenly stretched forward and took the book from her. He said, ¡°The contents of this book are incomplete, give it to me. I¡¯ll give you the complete book tomorrow.¡± Bai Chuwei frowned. The ¡®Memory of the Mountain Moonlight¡¯ which she casually wrote two centuries back was indeed incomplete. How could he possibly get a complete version when she herself had not written it? Could it be that someone else wrote a continuation? Bai Chuwei smiled and nodded. ¡°Then I¡¯ll have to trouble you.¡± Duan Feihan drove Bai Chuwei home and behind them was a small truck that carried the medicinal ingredients which he had spent three hundred million yuan on. After reaching home, Bai Chuwei instructed the servants to deliver all the medicinal ingredients to the empty storage room in the attic. Fearing the loss of potency, the medical apprentices had tightly sealed the ingredients in sacks. Aunt Chen had been a nanny for the Bai Family for five years and was also good friends with the lady of the family. Therefore, she believed herself to be an integral part of the Bai Family. When she saw Bai Chuwei ordering the servants to carry large bags up to the attic, she said in an eerie tone, ¡°Miss Chuwei, the Bai Family is considered to be a reputable family. Just because the old man is fond of your cabbages, please don¡¯t assume that you can bring cheap goods into the house. Don¡¯t lower the standard of the family.¡± Bai Chuwei looked at Aunt Chen with a meaningful smile, and the latter¡¯s scalp turned numb. She felt as if she had been seen through by this young girl. Bai Chuwei said with a smile, ¡°A servant should do what a servant ought to do. You are not qualified to interfere with your employer¡¯s affairs. Unless¡ Aunt Chen, you believe yourself to be one of us, already?¡± Aunt Chen was frightened by Bai Chuwei¡¯s casual remark and dared not meet her abstruse eyes. She hastily lowered her head and apologized. Bai Chuwei chuckled lightly and went up to the attic. Ha, there was not a single one who could fight against her. According to reason, she had lived for five thousand years and would not have bothered when facing such provocation. However, the mission provided by the faulty system was for her to slap those who had bullied the original owner in their faces. So apart from the male and the female lead, there were also her foster family. Aunt Chen was a good breakthrough point for her to deal with her foster parents. The reason being that Aunt Chen had an improper relationship with her foster father, Bai Hongguang. Her foster mother, Liu Man was a headstrong woman. She could tolerate her husband¡¯s numerous affairs outside, but the house was her territory. She would never allow another woman to act wildly in a place where she had the control. If Liu Man were to know that her husband had had an affair with Aunt Chen in the house, there would be a great show to see¡ Bai Chuwei revealed a meaningful smile and the white furry hamster seated on the desk suddenly shivered. ¡°Dear Ancestor, please don¡¯t smile like that. It scares me.¡± Chapter 49 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei restrained her smile and bunched up her hair in preparation to take a bath. In a casual voice, she asked the little hamster. ¡°Have you sent the letter to the Tong Family?¡± Snowball nodded while chewing on a biscuit. ¡°I¡¯ve sent it and followed up with a reminder letter every single day since then.¡± Bai Chuwei possessed a large amount of assets and four hundred million yuan was nothing but peanuts to her. It did not matter if she managed to recover it or not. However, she wanted the Tong Family to kneel and offer that four hundred million yuan to her. It would depend on her mood whether or not she would take it. Bai Chuwei had a lazy expression on her face as she said, ¡°A daily letter to remind them is good.¡± The one month¡¯s grace period was about to end and if they did not repay that debt, they shouldn¡¯t blame her for her ruthlessness. * Duan Feihan drove back to the Duan Family¡¯s villa and stepped into the living room. Instantly, he discerned the strange atmosphere prevailing there. A well maintained woman in her thirties was weeping in the arms of another lady, while an indifferent man dressed in jeans sat opposite them. Duan Xingye quietly walked over and tugged on Duan Feihan¡¯s sleeve. ¡°Fourth Uncle, Third Uncle said that grandfather¡¯s condition isn¡¯t looking good and wishes to postpone his wedding with Auntie Tong. So the both of them had a dispute.¡± The lady patted Tong Yunrou¡¯s back and looked at Duan Xiuqi in a wronged voice. ¡°Xiuqi, just because you said you won¡¯t go ahead with the wedding, we have to accommodate you?¡± Duan Xiuqi¡¯s hand rested on his jeans as he sneered in a cold tone. ¡°How could you not know how this wedding came about?¡± Duan Xiuqi did not have any desires in his life. In the first eighteen years of his life, he had loafed about but in the following eighteen years, he restrained his selfishness to a large extent. If Tong Yunrou¡¯s father had not used his death as a threat, he would never have agreed to the marriage. The old man claimed that Tong Yunrou had been devoted solely to him and waited twenty years for him. Tsk, had Duan Xiuqi said anything when he waited for that woman for twenty years? Did he ever ask for any repayment? Tong Yunrou moved away from the woman¡¯s embrace and looked at Duan Xiuqi with reddened eyes. ¡°It has already been twenty years! Bai Chu disappeared two decades ago. You still haven¡¯t let go? Saying that you¡¯re afraid that your father¡¯s condition might turn for the worse and hence it¡¯s not a good time for us to get married is just an excuse. You¡¯re clearly still pining over that woman!¡± Duan Xiuqi opened his eyes and said coldly, ¡°That is not true. Father¡¯s condition has worsened and my mobile endorsement has also been suddenly stopped. There are too many things going on right now and it would be better to postpone the wedding.¡± As for the problem about getting removed from the mobile endorsement, Duan Xiuqi was still unable to figure out the reason behind it. Just then, Duan Feihan¡¯s icy voice sounded in the room. It was similar to the cold dew in chilly weather. ¡°Father¡¯s condition will not worsen any further. You can go ahead with your wedding preparations.¡± Everyone¡¯s line of sight shifted towards Duan Feihan. His cold gaze met that of Duan Xiuqi, who held an equally chilly expression in his eyes. Duan Xingye excitedly took that pack of medicinal ingredients from Duan Feihan and ran towards the kitchen while shouting loudly. ¡°Quick, the medicine is here. Hurry and boil it for my grandfather!¡± Several traditional chinese medicine experts had come together to boil the medicine, and the bitter scent pervaded the entire hall. There were voices of old men crying out in surprise from time to time. ¡°Fulinzi and Guisen1 used together? That¡¯s right! I recall reading in ancient texts that these two ingredients when used together are extremely nourishing for the stomach. A genius! The one who came up with this prescription is really a genius!¡± ¡°These medicinal ingredients are easily obtainable in the market and are also rather cheap. There are many ingredients that clash with each other, but surprisingly, the poisonous nature is neutralized by another medicinal ingredient and instead, produces a miraculous effect. Who was the one who came up with this prescription? What a genius!¡± Another old man¡¯s eyes had turned red and he disregarded the scorching medicinal dregs as he reached out to grab one of them. Bai Chuwei had not written a prescription but instead, given them a pre-mix pack of medicinal ingredients. Therefore, if those old men wanted to learn about the different components, they could only identify the ingredients through the dregs. After taking everything into account, they reached a conclusion because of which their jaws nearly dropped on the ground. ¡°This pack of medicinal ingredients costs at most three hundred yuan.¡± It only cost three hundred to cure stomach cancer? If that were to spread, probably the entire world would be shocked! Duan Feihan glanced at them and remained silent. Three hundred yuan? He had spent three hundred million. Chapter 50 Editor: Henyee Translations After the traditional chinese medicine concoction was boiled and cooled, they lifted up old man Duan to lean against the bedrest and fed it to him. Bai Chuwei had been rather ¡®kind¡¯ to specially choose the most bitter medicine and even left a reminder that they had to feed him spoon by spoon. Even the old man Duan, who was accustomed to drinking bitter things, nearly vomited when it was fed to him. That bowl of medicine took half an hour to finish and it was bitter to the extent that his lips were trembling. Old man Duan gradually opened his turbid eyes and muttered to himself as he looked at the surrounding family members. ¡°I¡¯ve only done one bad thing in my life. This is retribution. My illness is my retribution.¡± He had been an upright man throughout his life and only did one thing that went against his principles. Twenty years ago, his eighteen year old son had fallen in love with a girl named Bai Chu and insisted on marrying her despite the family¡¯s wishes. At that time, Old man Duan also approved of Bai Chu and wanted her to be his daughter-in-law. Therefore, he had indirectly given consent to Duan Xiuqi¡¯s rash behavior. Now that he thought back about it, perhaps this was payback. How could the surrounding family members care for what old man Duan was muttering? All they saw was that he had opened his eyes and was capable of speaking! He had been nearly unconscious since the moment he was diagnosed with late stage stomach cancer. This bowl of medicine was really effective! If they hadn¡¯t known that old man Duan was given medicine some time ago, they would have assumed that he was having a last flash of lucidity prior to his demise. Tong Yunrou cried out in surprise. ¡°Fourth young master, grandfather Duan will recover right? If so, then I believe there¡¯s no need to postpone my wedding with Xiuqi!¡± Duan Xiuqi¡¯s expression was rather ugly, but he did not wish for his biological father to pass away. As a result, his current emotions were very complicated. Duan Xiuqi glanced at Tong Yunrou¡¯s expectant gaze and answered absentmindedly. ¡°If my father can have a complete recovery, there¡¯s naturally no need to postpone the wedding.¡± Duan Feihan said in an indifferent tone, ¡°It¡¯s not enough to rely on medicine. From tomorrow onwards and lasting for an entire week, miracle doctor Bai¡¯s disciple will come and do acupuncture for father.¡± Just the pack of medicine worth three hundred yuan was insufficient. The most important part was Bai Chuwei¡¯s Spiritual Thirteen Needles! Duan Xingye asked him curiously. ¡°Fourth Uncle, Weiwei will not be coming personally?¡± From the looks of it, Weiwei indeed disliked his grandfather! She had not even been willing to treat him initially. ¡°En. Here¡¯s your book.¡± Duan Feihan picked up the famous book from the table and threw it into Duan Xinggye¡¯s hand before he turned and went towards his study. Duan Feihan¡¯s study was decorated in an antique style, with bookshelves stacked against the walls. The indoor lights gave a warm tone to the entire room. The man¡¯s slender fingers glided past the books and stopped to take out a single book. Even though ¡®Memory of the Mountain Moonlight¡¯ was regarded as the first classic masterpiece in China, it was unfortunately an eunuch novel. Therefore, in the last century, there were some scholars who wrote the ending and caused it to be widely accepted by the masses. The tenth year special edition book in Duan Feihan¡¯s hands contained the novel¡¯s continuation and this is the one he would give to Bai Chuwei when they met again. * ¡°Xiuqi, when your father recovers, we can hold our wedding. What do you think about this invitation design? I like white-colored invitations as it represents beauty and purity.¡± Tong Yunrou sat beside Duan Xiuqi and looked at the design book with a longing in her gaze. Her voice had become much softer. They managed to put old man Duan to sleep and had come out of his bedroom. Tong Yunrou did not waste a single minute and took out the design book to let Duan Xiuqi pick the invitation card pattern. It was as if she wished that they could decide on all the wedding details in a single night. When she looked at the man beside her, Tong Yunrou felt unease pass through her body. She knew that she obtained his consent to this marriage by force and somehow she kept having an ominous intuition that the woman Bai Chu might return anytime soon. Chapter 51 Editor: Henyee Translations Duan Xiuqi responded in an absentminded manner. ¡°You can decide it as you please. I still have to return to the office to settle the matter about the withdrawal of Mo Yun¡¯s endorsement. Uncle Li, please send Miss Yunrou back home.¡± Uncle Li was the Tong Family¡¯s driver. Duan Xiuqi was rather surprised that Mo Yun had withdrawn his endorsement because due to this action, Mo Yun would have to compensate him under the contract. In spite of the hefty sum of compensation, the other party was insisting on replacing him as the spokesperson. What was the underlying reason behind that decision? Tong Yunrou tried her best to maintain her smile and went home with Uncle Li. Uncle Li sighed and said, ¡°Miss Yunrou, is everything that you¡¯ve done, worth it?¡± Tong Yunru replied unhesitantly. ¡°It¡¯s worth it!¡± She started liking Duan Xiuqi when she was fourteen-years-old, and continued to do so till date when she was thirty-four. She had waited for him since her marriageable age until now, where even her niece, Tong Qingyan was already at the juncture of falling in love. As long as Bai Chu did not return, she was confident of claiming the position of the Duan Family¡¯s third madam! It was all because of Bai Chu that had caused Tong Yunrou to hate the surname Bai. However, she had to admit that she was thankful for ¡®Bai Chuwei¡¯ who cured old man Duan. Now, Duan Xiuqi no longer had any reason to delay the wedding. Uncle Li drove Tong Yunrou back to the villa and she stepped out of the car with her high heels. Just as she was about to enter the hall, she saw a servant walking out aggressively, holding onto a pile of letters and walking towards the rubbish chute. Tong Yunrou stopped her and asked. ¡°What¡¯s the matter?¡± The servant said in anger, ¡°Miss Yunrou, I guess you still don¡¯t know about it. Since days, someone has been sending letters for repayment! Take a look at this, they sent it again today. Miss Qingyan ordered me to throw it away.¡± A trace of irritation flashed past Tong Yunrou¡¯s eyes. Who dared to rip off their Family? They were considered to be a wealthy family in Sea City and moreover, she was about to marry into the Duan Family very soon. Who dared to be so arrogant with them!? ¡°Show it to me.¡± Tong Yunrou took the letter and in an instant, her eyes shrank and turned white. She staggered and nearly fell on the ground. The repayment letter was a print out and conveniently included a reminder saying ¡¯29 days remaining¡¯ on it. There was a name signed on the lower right corner, Bai Chu. Tong Yunrou knew that there were many people with the same name, but she had seen Bai Chu¡¯s handwriting in the past and it was very unique. Therefore, she would never recognize it wrongly! It was that woman¡¯s signature for sure. Her intuition turned out to be accurate. Bai Chu had indeed returned! Tong Yunrou became flustered and started trembling, holding the repayment letter in her hand. Tong Qingyan came out of the room and saw Tong Yunrou¡¯s strange expression. She said with a smile, ¡°Aunt, don¡¯t be frightened by this four hundred million claim. In the past, grandmother used to transfer three million to this person on account of their friendship. It was not an obligation. But now, she dares to chase us for payment. Does she honestly think that we are pushovers?¡± While Tong Qingyan was speaking, a shy blush appeared on her pretty face and she said in a low voice, ¡°The lawyers in the fourth young master¡¯s company are so capable. Since she dared to blackmail us, we can sue her. We won¡¯t lose.¡± Tong Yunrou¡¯s body suddenly staggered and she tightly gripped onto the repayment letter and murmured softly. ¡°In the past, mother always transferred money to an account. So it was Bai Chu¡¯s account?¡± When she saw her niece nod in agreement, a trace of hatred flashed past Tong Qingyan¡¯s eyes. She had always heard that her mother, Chen Meihua made a fortune after she escaped from the mountains. Therefore, she would often offer grants for orphans to attend school. It turned out that her mother had been transferring a huge sum of money to support Bai Chu all this while. Despite that, Bai Chu was not grateful and repaid kindness with ingratitude by snatching the man she fancied¡ ¡°She¡¯s a hateful b*tch!¡± Chapter 52 Editor: Henyee Translations Tong Yunrou sneered. If her mother, Chen Meihua knew what was happening now, would she regret having sponsored Bai Chu at that time? Uncle Li had parked the car and coincidentally overheard Tong Yunrou and Tong Qingyan¡¯s conversation when he entered the gate. He could not help but frown as he said, ¡°Miss Yunrou, , when the old madam was alive, I heard that she used to transfer money to Miss Bai Chu not because she had sponsored her. I believe it was to thank her!¡± Tong Yunrou was overtaken by anger and she sneered before speaking to him in a mocking tone. ¡°Before my mother passed away, she was a powerful woman in Sea City. Why would she need to show gratitude towards an orphaned child? Uncle Li, you¡¯re just a driver. Who allowed you to comment on our internal matters? Get out.¡± Other than sponsoring her as an orphan, Tong Yunrou could not think of any other reasons for her mother to transfer money every single year to that woman! A flush of embarrassment spread on Uncle Li¡¯s face and he left without saying anything further. Tong Qingyan covered her lips in astonishment and looked at her aunt. ¡°Could it be that this Bai Chu is the woman who snatched Uncle Xiuqi from you?¡± Tong Qingyan was only eighteen years old and vaguely knew about her aunt loving the Duan Family¡¯s third young master. She was not aware of the full story. Tong Yunrou had a complicated expression on her face and she said in a solemn tone, ¡°Qingyan, don¡¯t mention this to anyone. This has to remain a secret between us.¡± Tong Yunrou shivered in trepidation. If Duan Xiuqi got to know that Bai Chu had returned, then it would be useless even if her father used his death as a threat! Tong Yunrou looked at the repayment letter and chuckled in disdain. From the looks of it, Bai Chu was not having a good life and hence had become thick-skinned enough to ask the Tong Family to give her money. Tong Yunrou went looking for the courier¡¯s delivery bill. Couriers nowadays were all registered with the sender¡¯s real name. Perhaps she could find some leads from there. Tong Qingyan stood at the entrance and the shadow of her pretty figure was elongated under the indoor light¡¯s reflection. She suddenly wondered that there were too many people with the surname Bai these days! * After Bai Chuwei came out from the bath, she went to walk around the storeroom on the third floor. When she smelled the spiritual aura radiating from those piles of ingredients, she sighed and said, ¡°It¡¯s really a relaxing scent.¡± Snowball, who had climbed up her shoulder squeaked. ¡°It¡¯s the smell of money.¡± It was worth three hundred million yuan for goodness sake! When Bai Chuwei recalled Duan Feihan¡¯s generosity, she revealed a gentle smile. ¡°Since you¡¯re so handsome and generous, I will definitely cure your father.¡± Immediately after, Bai Chuwei returned to her room and turned off the lights. When Snowball saw Bai Chuwei closing her eyes, he was so surprised as if he had found a new continent. ¡°Dear Ancestor, you¡¯re sleeping!?¡± Snowball believed that the most useless thing in this attic was the bed. It had to be known that Bai Chuwei had lived for five thousand years, and with the exception of sprouting wings and ascending to the heavens, there was basically no difference between her and a celestial being. Otherwise, she would not have casually given him wisdom just to relieve her boredom. Sleep? Only normal humans needed to sleep. It did not matter if Bai Chuwei slept or not. The last time she slept was probably four to five decades ago. Bai Chuwei lazily responded. ¡°En, I¡¯m going to find Liu Zhen.¡± The pack of medicine which she passed to Duan Feihan was insufficient to cure old man Duan¡¯s stomach cancer. The illness required the usage of both the Spiritual Thirteen Needles and the medicine for him to be cured. However, she honestly did not wish to step into the Duan Family and therefore, she could only look at the next best option, which was to send an apprentice to carry out the acupuncture. Even though Liu Zhen was not good enough as per her standard, he was considered a master in the world of ordinary people. Under the circumstances, it was best for him to do this. Before they left the medicine hall, she had left a word with the still trembling Liu Zhen. ¡°I¡¯ll find you in your dreams tonight.¡± The art of entering dreams was very simple and it posed no challenge for her. However, Liu Zhen did not seem to be sleeping at this moment. After she waited for a minute, she became impatient. Her slender fingers touched her chin and a trace of interest flashed in her beautiful eyes. Should she go take a look inside Duan Feihan¡¯s dreams to see what he was dreaming about? Chapter 53 Editor: Henyee Translations For a long period of time after that person who died to save her, Bai Chuwei would have nightmares every single night when she slept. Her pillow would always be drenched in tears the moment she opened her eyes. Therefore, Bai Chuwei simply did not sleep after that. Not sleeping made no difference to her. But Bai Chuwei was always interested in other people¡¯s dreams. She used to wander in Snowball¡¯s dreams earlier, but that fat hamster only indulged in eating delicacies even in his dreams. She could always enter dreams unimpeded, but for some reason, she was blocked by Duan Feihan¡¯s mind. However, that only further aroused her interest and she was more determined to take a walk into his dreams tonight. Normally, Duan Feihan had an extremely busy schedule and post that, he took care of his seriously ill father when he returned from work. As a result, he usually slept late at night. Now that old man Duan had recovered slightly after eating the medicine, Duan Feihan returned to his room early to rest. Bai Chuwei had spent a great deal of effort to enter Duan Feihan¡¯s dream tonight. Inside his dream, the skies were grey and a cold wind was blowing. Only a beautiful villa could be seen and when Bai Chuwei entered the hall, she saw a delicate little boy dressed in a child-sized suit. There was a serious expression on his immature-looking face as he played Sudoku. Bai Chuwei had seen the four-year-old Duan Feihan in the past, and she had to say that the mini version of him was really cute. As it turned out, he still had his childlike innocence. To think that he was dreaming of playing games as a child? ¡°Hanhan¡ªHanhan¡ª¡± There was a woman calling his name from the second floor. When the cute little kid heard someone calling for him, his face which had lacked vigor till now, revealed a tiny smile. ¡°Mom, I¡¯m coming.¡± The young Duan Feihan put down the game and walked towards the second floor, not seeing Bai Chuwei who stood there. Bai Chuwei slowly recalled the details of the original novel. As the ultimate boss in the latter part of the novel, there was a description about his nightmare where his mother died when he was a child. Tsk. When someone had such a recurring nightmare every night, how could they possibly not become twisted when they grew up? Bai Chuwei suddenly forgot that she came here to be an on-looker and she chased him to the second floor immediately. When she arrived there, she saw a beautiful woman standing at the balcony with a warm smile. All of a sudden, she fell down from the balcony. The young Duan Feihan stiffened and his blood ran cold, as if he had been struck with a petrification curse. Suddenly, he entered a warm embrace which had a faint medicinal fragrance. A pair of beautiful hands lightly covered his eyes. The four-year-old Duan Feihan¡¯s long eyelashes fluttered with unease. It was like a little brush tickling Bai Chuwei¡¯s palms. Bai Chuwei¡¯s voice was extremely gentle as she said, ¡°Hanhan, this is just a dream. Hurry and wake up.¡± She knew the feeling of having nightmares. Scenes which a person wanted to forget would repeatedly appear before their eyes. It was similar to a knife that continuously stabbed into their wounds! The room was extremely quiet and all of a sudden, the handsome man lying on the bed opened his eyes. His slender fingers pressed on his forehead and cold sweat trickled down his body. Duan Feihan gasped and turned on the bedside lamp while he sat up. Dark blue pajamas loosely hung on his body, revealing his sweaty collarbone. He lowered his head and fell into deep thoughts. He had seen the same dream again. He dreamt about the horrible sight where his mother fell to her death when he was a child. This nightmare had accompanied him for nearly two decades now and every single time, it would make him feel powerless and heartbroken. However, there was something different this time round. Someone new had appeared. Bai Chuwei came in his dream and hugged him. The overwhelming feeling of despair was replaced by warmth that seemed to have saved his whole world. Chapter 54 Editor: Henyee Translations Duan Feihan rubbed his eyes which held a complicated expression in them. ¡°Why did I dream of¡ Bai Chuwei?¡± He moved his hand up to rub his brows and then got up to pour himself a glass of iced water. The iced water flowed down his throat and completely extinguished the anxiety caused by the nightmare. However, he was wide awake now. He put down the cup and walked to the window with his phone in hand. His pitch-black eyes had recovered their usual coldness and were staring at the night scene as he made a call. The call was connected very soon. ¡°Fourth young master, since you¡¯re calling me so late at night, you¡¯ve had a nightmare again. Shall I come over immediately?¡± The other person on the line was Ji Shuo, Duan Feihan¡¯s personal psychiatrist. He would often receive calls from Duan Feihan in the middle of the night. The recurring nightmares were mainly the reason for these calls. Duan Feihan was the first obstacle in his career. He had tried numerous methods to help him, but all of them yielded no results. ¡°Don¡¯t come here, I¡¯m fine.¡± Duan Feihan calmly said. When Ji Shuo heard that, he was relieved. However, he became curious the next second. ¡°Then why did you call me?¡± A trace of confusion appeared on Duan Feihan¡¯s calm face. He hesitated for a moment before he said, ¡°I dreamt of a girl hugging me.¡± Ji Shuo took a long time before he reacted. The fourth young master had called him in the middle of the night for him to interpret his dream for him? He was not a dream interpreter for goodness sake! But then he recalled that he was receiving a huge fat cheque from this person. He cleared his throat and said, ¡°You should¡¯ve heard of the saying that what you think about in the day would result in what you dream of at night. It¡¯s likely that the dream reflected your underlying thoughts.¡± Duan Feihan¡¯s icy voice replied back to him. ¡°Doctor Ji. I feel that you wish to receive your last paycheck from me.¡± Ji Shuo: ? Soon after, the call was disconnected. Could he possibly have complicated thoughts about his nephew¡¯s female classmate in his subconscious mind? * Since Duan Feihan had woken up, his dream naturally would not exist anymore. After Bai Chuwei finished visiting the future villain¡¯s nightmare, Liu Zhen finally went to sleep. On usual occasions, everyone accommodated his whims and those from the medical field respectfully addressed him as Master Liu. However, the moment he saw Bai Chuwei, his tears were about to start flowing. This ancestor¡¯s temper was really unpredictable. She had clearly mentioned that she would not let his deceased teacher visit him in his dream anymore. But in the end, she came herself! Liu Zhen glanced at Bai Chuwei and immediately knelt before her and cried. ¡°Dear Ancestor, this old man has really understood his mistakes!¡± Bai Chuwei shot him a glance and lazily said, ¡°I¡¯ve cultivated for thousands of years and I¡¯m not fond of killing. I¡¯m also not interested in your petty life.¡± Thousands of years¡ Liu Zhen really wished that he could give himself a tight slap. To think he had provoked an ancestor! After which, he nervously asked about Bai Chuwei¡¯s intentions. ¡°I¡¯ll impart one of the Spiritual Thirteen Needle techniques to you, and you shall treat that old man Duan. Remember to be ruthless when you insert the needles.¡± Liu Zhen was shocked, and moisture immediately flooded his eyes, resulting in tears and snot mixing together on his face. He had lived the past century in vain! He unfairly judged a noble person with his despicable mind, and thought that the ancestor came to teach him a lesson. But it turned out that she came here to impart medical skills to him! The Spiritual Thirteen Needles¡ it was a skill that many were unable to learn even if they begged for it. However, the ancestor was unexpectedly willing to impart the skill to him. ¡°Your disciple here accepts your command and will definitely study hard.¡± As Liu Zhen was rather old, there were many apprentices in the medicine hall who stayed with him. In the middle of the night, those apprentices woke up due to Liu Zhen¡¯s movements. They came to his room and saw him crying, smiling, and drooling¡ Chapter 55 Editor: Henyee Translations Liu Zhen¡¯s dream lasted for an entire night. Bai Chuwei had to wake up in the morning for school, causing Liu Zhen to also reluctantly wake up from his dream. After he woke up, he looked at the inch long silver needles in his acupuncture bag and laughed for no reason. Bai Chuwei handed him the task of being heavy handed on old man Duan while inserting the acupuncture needles, and he had to follow her wishes. Bai Chuwei followed the normal routine and attended school, but before she had the chance to start the morning self-revision, a subject representative informed her to head to the teacher¡¯s office. When she walked into the Year 3 teacher¡¯s office, Teacher Huang smiled at her kindly. Because of that small bottle of medicine from her, Teacher Huang¡¯s stomach felt much better already. Therefore, she was rather happy when she saw Bai Chuwei. The language teacher, Li Juan had called Bai Chuwei and she looked at her with a stern expression. When the Class 9 full of smart students was handed to her, it was equivalent to a delicious pastry being directly fed into her mouth. It had to be known that the school would hand out a large monetary reward to the teacher for every single student who managed to enter a famous school. However, this Bai Chuwei suddenly appeared out of nowhere. She was a terrible student who would surely lower the class average! Li Juan coldly gazed at Bai Chuwei and just as she said the first word, ¡°You¡¡± An extremely loud fart exploded in the room, and the entire office was enveloped in silence for a moment as all of them tried to hold back their laughter. Li Juan immediately turned red and when she saw Bai Chuwei smile, her anger intensified. Ever since she ate those medicinal pills of Teacher Huang¡¯s, she had been feeling uncomfortable and even vomited on the way to school today! To make the matters worse, she had even released a loud fart. This simply caused her to lose any remaining face she had. Li Juan forcefully endured her embarrassment and questioned the student. ¡°Bai Chuwei, I can forget about the fact that you skipped yesterday¡¯s self-revision lesson, but why didn¡¯t you hand in your homework today?¡± Bai Chuwei leveled an odd gaze at her. ¡°I didn¡¯t do it, so obviously I didn¡¯t hand it in.¡± Li Juan nearly spat out blood in anger. ¡°Why didn¡¯t you complete your homework?¡± ¡°I didn¡¯t feel like doing homework.¡± If not for the novel¡¯s plot, she would not have even cared to attend school. Just as Bai Chuwei said that, a graceful figure entered the room. She placed a pile of exercise books on the desk and gave a sweet smile. ¡°Teacher Li, this is Class 11¡¯s language homework. Everyone has handed in their work.¡± Tong Qingyan looked at Bai Chuwei and smiled as she asked. ¡°Student Bai, could it be that you didn¡¯t complete the homework because you¡¯ve transferred here recently and have yet to adapt? Maybe you didn¡¯t know how to do the questions?¡± Bai Chuwei revealed a lazy expression as she discerned that the female lead seemed to have a trace of hostility against her already. Her red lips curled up and she said in an indifferent tone, ¡°Student Tong¡¯s listening skills seem to be lacking. I clearly said that I didn¡¯t feel like doing the homework.¡± Tong Qingyan¡¯s smile stiffened. She did not expect Bai Chuwei to be so blunt. When Li Juan saw this ignorant and incompetent garbage student refuting her beloved student, she burned with flames of fury. Li Juan heavily slammed the table and her expression turned colder. ¡°Bai Chuwei, did you play games and watch dramas instead of completing your homework? Do you think you are Tong Qingyan? Even though she dabbles in live broadcast and video editing, she can make it into the top ten. Can you?¡± Bai Chuwei gently stroked her nose and said, ¡°If I wish to, I can.¡± The main point was, she did not wish to do so. She wanted to be a loafer and did not intend to study. Li Juan was angered by Bai Chuwei¡¯s words of indifference to the extent that her hair stood up in anger. She then sternly asked her. ¡°What did you do last evening!? If you cannot give a proper reason, you shall write a three thousand word reflection essay!¡± Just as she said that, a male deep voice similar to a harp sounded from behind. ¡°She was with me yesterday.¡± Chapter 56 Editor: Henyee Translations Everyone turned their gazes to the door and the man dressed in a suit shocked Teacher Li to the extent that she stood up. ¡°President¡ President Duan?¡± All the teachers in the room gasped when they looked at the young man. Their gazes were filled with awe. Who in Sea City would not know of the Duan Family¡¯s fourth young master? He was the real wielder of power in the entire city! Duan Feihan walked in and looked at the stunned Li Juan. He repeated himself. ¡°Student Bai had an appointment with me last evening. I¡¯d have to ask of you not to punish her.¡± Even though he was a young master from a powerful family, his words did not appear domineering, instead, they sounded gentlemanly. However, his tone also carried invisible traces of coercion. Li Juan¡¯s mind turned blank and her ears started to buzz. When Li Juan got to know that Bai Chuwei was personally squeezed in through underhanded means by the Bai Family¡¯s head, she had not placed much importance on it. However, this was the Duan Family! The Duan Family¡¯s fourth young master had personally made a trip on her behalf. How could Li Juan dare to show her previous arrogance? Her expression was immediately replaced with a flattering smile. ¡°How can I possibly punish Student Bai? I was just joking.¡± ¡°Are you done? If yes, I¡¯ll be going back then.¡± Bai Chuwei glanced at Duan Feihan with interest before walking out of the office. Tong Qingyan looked at Duan Feihan who turned around quickly and caught up to Bai Chuwei. It was as if he did not see her standing in front of him. She had been acquainted with Duan Feihan for much longer than Bai Chuwei, but¡ Unease surged up like a torrent and nearly drowned Tong Qingyan. * Bai Chuwei looked at the man by her side and asked him curiously. ¡°Hanhan, why did you come to my school?¡± When Duan Feihan heard her nickname for him, his forehead involuntarily twitched. He lowered his gaze and straightened the cufflinks on his sleeves before saying calmly, ¡°On the way to the office, I passed by your school. So I came to deliver this to you.¡± Duan Feihan took out a hardcover copy of ¡®Memory of the Mountain Moonlight¡¯ from his black briefcase and passed it to Bai Chuwei. ¡°This is the completed version.¡± Bai Chuwei reached out to take the book and expressed her thanks. Just from the cover of the book, she knew that it was much better than the book Duan Xingye gave her. The thought that he specially came to help her out coupled with his nightmare yesterday, softened her usual stony heart and she smiled at him. ¡°Hanhan, you don¡¯t have to worry about it. I didn¡¯t come here to study¡¡± He suddenly cut her off and couldn¡¯t help but ask. ¡°You came here for guys?¡± Bai Chuwei stared blankly for a moment before she nodded with a smile. ¡°You can say that.¡± It was because of Xu Xingchen, Tong Qingyan, and to go through the original plot. Bai Chuwei saw Duan Feihan¡¯s eyes gradually darkening, as if a thunderstorm was about to happen. Duan Feihan¡¯s magnetic voice suddenly talked in a righteous tone. ¡°You¡¯re still a high school student and your main priority should be to study. You should not be distracted because of relationships¡¡± Bai Chuwei raised her brows and lazily interrupted him. ¡°Then why did you try and take me to a hotel room yesterday?¡± She obviously knew that it was because of his impure thoughts that caused him to misunderstand the meaning behind the hug which she had asked for. Duan Feihan: ¡ Bai Chuwei saw the man maintaining his usual expression, but the tip of his ears had turned red. A teasing smile curled on her lips. It was a bad hobby of hers to tease others. Duan Feihan caught her sly smile. She was similar to a little cat, sparring with him using her wit and courage. He calmly responded in an increasingly low and magnetic voice. ¡°Others can¡¯t, but I can.¡± Bai Chuwei was momentarily shocked and she felt that she had been teased, instead. The man recovered his usual expression and walked her towards Class 9. ¡°You are very smart. I hope that you can be serious about your future and prepare well for your college examinations.¡± Duan Feihan walked her to the classroom¡¯s entrance and glanced at Duan Xingye who was reciting English sentences with sincerity. He looked at her and said, ¡°Duan Xingye disliked studying in the past. But he¡¯s working hard preparing for the college entrance examinations now.¡± Bai Chuwei¡¯s crisp sounding voice suddenly asked him in return. ¡°But what if he dies?¡± Chapter 57 Editor: Henyee Translations Duan Xingye had fooled around in his first two years and it was only in Year 3 when he began to study hard. In order to prepare for the college entrance examinations, he had even given up his favourite basketball. Duan Feihan¡¯s black eyes chilled as he stared at Bai Chuwei. ¡°If he were to die, I will not forgive the one who caused his death.¡± Bai Chuwei was shocked. One of the main reasons why Duan Feihan had become a villain in the latter part of the story was because he got to know the real reason behind Duan Xingye¡¯s death! When Duan Feihan saw Bai Chuwei¡¯s shocked expression, he was slightly vexed at himself for scaring a young lady. He then contained his cold expression and extended his hand. He hesitated for a few seconds before gently patting her head and said in a mellow voice, ¡°Study hard. Don¡¯t be distracted by men and relationships. In the future¡ there are better men outside the school.¡± Duan Feihan took back his hand and stuffed the palm, that still carried traces of warmth from Bai Chuwei¡¯s head, into his pocket before he turned to leave. Bai Chuwei touched her head and did not know whether to laugh or to cry. Dear Mr. Future villain! She had no intentions to fall in love!! When Bai Chuwei walked into the classroom with the hardcover copy of ¡®Memory of the Mountain Moonlight¡¯, Duan Xingye still had his head buried into the english text book. In the original novel, the cannon fodder, Duan Xingye had been a dissolute. His father was Duan Feihan¡¯s older brother and he was extremely disappointed with his son. Therefore, he had placed all his hopes onto his illegitimate son, Xu Xingchen. In order to prove himself to his father, Duan Xingye had been working hard in his studies for the past year. However, who would have expected him to die before he got the chance to prove himself? As a result, Xu Xingchen was successfully brought into the Duan Family without any obstacles. With the Spiritual Thirteen Needles technique which she taught Liu Zhen yesterday, old man Duan only needed one week to recover! Based on the original novel¡¯s progression, after old man Duan recovered, Duan Xingye would die soon after. Bai Chuwei touched her jaw and looked at the smiling Xu Xingchen who was currently walking over. She suddenly had a thought. If Duan Xingye did not die, how would the illegitimate son enter the Duan Family? With the english textbook in hand, Duan Xingye rushed towards Xu Xingchen who was on his way to throw rubbish and said, ¡°Xingchen, can I go to your house this weekend? I have several difficult math questions that I still can¡¯t solve.¡± Like a good-natured friend, Xu Xingchen nodded. ¡°Sure.¡± Duan Xingchen returned to his seat after that. Before he had the time to rejoice though, he suddenly heard a chilly voice from the side. ¡°If you do not wish to die, you had better stay away from Xu Xingchen.¡± Duan Xingye was stunned and he looked at Bai Chuwei. However, her gaze was immersed downwards as she read through the ¡®Memory of the Mountain Moonlight¡¯. Tsk. How did her eunuch novel suddenly improve so much? Unexpectedly, there was someone in this world that could write a continuation of her novel? Before she had the chance to flip the page, Duan Xingye grabbed and shook her arm. ¡°Weiwei, what did you say? Die? I¡¯m going to die?¡± The more he thought about it, the more frightened he was and he said incoherently, ¡°Could it be that you¡¯ve identified that I¡¯m sick? Could it be that I also have stomach cancer? Or lung cancer? Or is it leukemia? But I¡¯ve always been in good health!¡± Bai Chuwei was about to turn dizzy from all the shaking and she slapped his hand away in disdain. She then looked at Duan Xingye¡¯s tensed up handsome face and said in a mysterious tone, ¡°Your glabella is dark and your face is covered with dark clouds. A bloody disaster will befall you soon.¡± Duan Xingye: ??? Bloody disaster? Was Bai Chuwei¡ a psychic? She was doing fine as a miracle doctor. Then why did she suddenly change occupation and become a psychic? Chapter 58 Editor: Henyee Translations Duan Xingye put down his textbook, looked at Bai Chuwei and said in all seriousness, ¡°Weiwei, we are a scientific society and are no longer living in the feudal era where superstition ran rampant. Repeat after me. Prosperity, democracy, civilization, harmony, freedom, equality¡¡± Bai Chuwei looked at Duan Xingye¡¯s gaze that radiated righteousness and said, ¡°I¡¯ve lived for five thousand years. I used to cultivate in the past.¡± Duan Xingye saw Bai Chuwei¡¯s rather serious expression and he sighed. Weiwei was good in every aspect, with the exception that her eighth-grader syndrome was too severe. He believed that she was a miracle doctor, but when she said that she was an ancestor that had lived for five thousand years¡ it would be better for her to wash up and have a good night¡¯s sleep. Duan Xingye answered her seriously. ¡°Weiwei, colleague entrance examinations are approaching. Stop reading those novels and memorize more words instead.¡± Bai Chuwei saw Duan Xingye¡¯s distrusting expression and crossed her fingers while deliberately revealing a smile. ¡°You don¡¯t believe me? Even though spiritual energy has declined, there are still cultivators around. Do you know there¡¯s a special department in China called the Management Bureau for the Unnatural?¡± Duan Xingye looked at Bai Chuwei with a complicated expression on his face. He did not expect her to be so superstitious at such a young age. He wondered if it was because of the pressure of the approaching college entrance examinations. In the original novel, Duan Xingye¡¯s death was described as an accident caused by mental illness. However, she was someone who was well versed in medicine. If Duan Xingye had been mentally ill, how could she not have noticed it? Even though Duan Xingye was not well liked by Duan Feihan¡¯s big brother, he was still part of the Duan Family. Therefore how could they not investigate his sudden death? With the amount of attention Duan Feihan paid to this nephew of his, how could he not thoroughly probe into it? So what did that mean? Bai Chuwei guessed that Duan Xingye¡¯s death was definitely unnatural! Therefore, it was useless even if Duan Feihan would want to investigate. Because, it was impossible for him to find out anything. As a result, Duan Xingye would die in vain and make way for the male lead, Xu Xingchen. Bai Chuwei originally wanted to caution him, but from the looks of it, this little brat did not believe in cultivators in the slightest! Just as Bai Chuwei was disappointed at Duan Xingye for failing to meet her expectations, a soft and weak voice carefully sounded from the side. ¡°I-I, I believe you.¡± Bai Chuwei was shocked. Someone believed her? Both of them turned their heads at the same time. There was a girl dressed in the standard school uniform. She was not considered tall, and a rounded face together with her delicate facial features made her look adorable. She also had shoulder length hair and airy bangs. There were several books in her embrace and her timid darting eyes made her appear like a deer that was looking for food. She was very cute, and such a lovely and soft-looking girl was capable of arousing a man¡¯s desire to protect her. Bai Chuwei had met all kinds of people over the five thousands years and was rather accurate at reading people. At the very first glance, she noticed that the girl had clear eyes and did not harbor any bad intentions. Duan Xingye clicked his tongue, leaned against the chair and asked her offhandedly. ¡°Another one? So do you believe in tarot cards or eight characters?¡± The girl was frightened by Duan Xingye and hugged her books tighter. Her voice had also softened. ¡°I-I believe in Student Bai Chuwei.¡± Duan Xingye: !!! What the f*ck! He did not expect Bai Chuwei¡¯s trick to work. It improved other people¡¯s impression of her! Bai Chuwei curled her lips and said in a confident tone, ¡°I believe you¡¯re a student of Class 11?¡± The girl became excited. ¡°Student Bai, you remember me? I¡¯m Su Ruan from Class 11.¡± Bai Chuwei¡¯s tongue gently pressed against her upper gum. As expected, she was similar to her name, gentle and soft.1 Bai Chuwei¡¯s slender fingers flipped her hair and her gaze sized up the female student before she said with a smile, ¡°You came to see me for your illness?¡± Chapter 59 Editor: Henyee Translations Bai Chuwei¡¯s medical abilities were already widespread in the school and she was being praised to an unbelievable extent. As she had cured Teacher Zhou, there were some who said that she was well versed in medical skills. However, the students led by Bai Yinyin sneered at the news and claimed it to be absolute rubbish. Even so, Su Ruan firmly believed that Student Bai Chuwei was a miracle doctor. Deng Manli and her gang were usually extremely high-profile in class but they had been rather obedient these days. Moreover, they never said a word against Bai Chuwei. Su Ruan looked at Bai Chuwei in admiration. She had not mentioned anything and Bai Chuwei already knew! Before Su Ruan had the chance to speak, a sarcastic laughter could be heard. ¡°It was a fluke that you said Teacher Zhou is sick. Do you honestly believe you are a miracle doctor? Do you think medicine is that easy to know and understand? It requires at least a decade to become a doctor!¡± Gao Qiaoqiao walked over with an unfriendly look. Perhaps it was due to mutual repulsion of the same gender, there were many female students who harbored hostile feelings towards Bai Chuwei ever since she had transferred over. The class belle, Gao Qiaoqiao, was no different. Majority of the male students¡¯ eyes had been diverted towards Bai Chuwei. One of the guys whom she was playing with recently, had been rather passive towards her. Instead, he secretly bought water for Bai Chuwei! Bai Chuwei shot a sideways glance and said, ¡°If you have the spare time to talk to me, I¡¯d advise you to do an orthopedic check up.¡± Gao Qiaoqiao¡¯s expression changed and she subconsciously touched her left shoulder. Su Ruan became even more excited and pulled a chair to sit in front of Bai Chuwei. Before she said anything, Bai Chuwei smiled. ¡°You have severe menstrual cramps, am I right?¡± All the surrounding female students were in a state of commotion. Their eyes looked shocked as they began to whisper back and forth amongst each other. Gao Qiaoqiao sneered. ¡°So what? Majority of the girls here have that problem. How can that be counted as part of medical skills? If that¡¯s the case, I am capable of saying that too!¡± The surrounding female students echoed in agreement. ¡°That¡¯s right. Su Ruan fainted during the previous exam and was carried out.¡± In Class 11, Su Ruan¡¯s grades were on par with Tong Qingyan. However, Su Ruan fainted in the previous exam, and was marked as absent. As a result, Tong Qingyan had successfully taken the first position in Class 11. Most of the people in their year knew about this incident. Bai Chuwei was too lazy to respond to Gao Qiaoqiao and she looked at Su Ruan with a smile. ¡°But your symptoms are generally more severe than other girls. There¡¯s not much relief even if you eat medicine for regulating your menstrual cramps.¡± Su Ruan¡¯s gaze had moved from admiration to worship now, and her small head nodded like a baby chick pecking on rice grains. ¡°That¡¯s right!¡± Bai Chuwei¡¯s fingers gently pressed on her wrist and she felt her pulse. ¡°Severe menstrual cramps can lead to infertility. Even if you do get pregnant in the future, it would be an ectopic pregnancy.¡± Su Ruan¡¯s complexion paled. She was only afraid that she would suffer from menstrual cramps during the college entrance examination. She did not expect it to be so severe! ¡°Then, then what should I do?¡± Su Ruan was only an eighteen year old. The moment she heard that she might be infertile, she panicked. Duan Xingye, who had been surrounded by the girls, found it awkward to hear them discuss their menstrual problems. Just as he was hesitating if he should go out of the classroom to continue with his memorizing, he suddenly saw Bai Chuwei¡¯s lips curl up and reveal a smile. It seemed as if a big gray wolf was about to devour a little lamb. Duan Xingye shivered and felt that Bai Chuwei was about to stir things up again. Bai Chuwei looked at Su Ruan with a smile and asked her. ¡°I heard that your grades are pretty good?¡± Su Ruan was confused and she foolishly nodded. ¡°It¡¯s¡ It¡¯s not bad. I¡¯m ranked in the top ten in the grade.¡± Bai Chuwei clapped her hands in satisfaction and said with a smile, ¡°I¡¯ll treat your problem in exchange that you write my homework daily.¡± Chapter 60 Editor: Henyee Translations Everyone: ??? What the f*ck? Bai Chuwei¡¯s motive was to¡ find someone to write her homework? It was almost time for the college entrance examinations and yet, she was unwilling to complete her homework? Even though Su Ruan was from Class 11, most of their homework consisted of simulated exam papers or past year exam papers. Therefore, their homework was not much different from one another. Su Ruan picked up Bai Chuwei¡¯s exercise book and peeked at her handwriting. A trace of surprise flashed through her eyes and she said in embarrassment, ¡°Student Bai, your handwriting is really beautiful. Even though I¡¯m willing to help, I can¡¯t copy your handwriting.¡± Su Ruan was honestly in awe of Bai Chuwei¡¯s handwriting. Even though she had not learned calligraphy, it was impossible to have such handwriting without decades of background in calligraphy. Moreover, her font style was free and unrestrained, and was very unique, as if she had created her own writing style. She could imitate ordinary handwriting, but it was impossible for her to imitate Bai Chuwei¡¯s handwriting. Bai Chuwei furrowed her brows and fell into deep thought for a moment. ¡°Forget it, you can just pass your homework to me.¡± She would simply give wisdom to several little paper figures to imitate her handwriting and do the work. She was really disinterested in homework. She was not considered uneducated as she had previously taken on the position of an Empress and left a good name behind for herself. It was simply because she didn¡¯t feel like doing it. For things that she did not wish to do, no one could force her to change her mind. Su Ruan nodded in a daze and responded. ¡°Oh¡ alright then.¡± Bai Chuwei stood up and started to walk. All of a sudden, she stopped and turned to look at Su Ruan with her brows raised. ¡°Why are you still sitting there? Follow me to the girls toilet. I¡¯ll give you acupuncture.¡± What the f*ck! The group of female students were very excited. Did this mean Bai Chuwei was really going to display her skills? They forgot all about their studies and followed the girls. Duan Xingye was in an awkward position. He also wanted to watch it, but he couldn¡¯t possibly break into the girls toilet! This commotion spread like a wildfire and instantly, most of the Year 3 students knew that Bai Chuwei was about to use acupuncture on Su Ruan! In a short moment, the third floor¡¯s girls toilet was surrounded by a crowd. Gao Qiaoqiao was one of them who stood in the crowd. She furrowed her brows and said, ¡°Su Ruan, I know you¡¯ve already fainted on several occasions during examinations, but you¡¯d better not try anything when in a desperate situation. She would not be in trouble even if she were to harm you.¡± Some of the female students nodded in agreement. ¡°Su Ruan, you should reconsider. I heard that there are scammers who gave acupuncture that caused people to become paralyzed!¡± When Bai Chuwei took out her acupuncture bag, rows of inch long shining silver needles were revealed. It frightened them to the extent that their complexions turned pale. Bai Chuwei selected the thickest needles and said with indifference, ¡°Lift up your clothes and show me your abdomen.¡± When Su Ruan thought about the fact that numerous visits to doctors had yielded no results, she gritted her teeth and lifted her shirt. Bai Chuwei¡¯s jade-like fingers swiped past the acupuncture bag, picked up a silver needle and directly inserted it into her abdomen. Su Ruan¡¯s legs went soft and she fell to the ground. The female students screamed in shock. There were some who were in a hurry to call a teacher, and some wanted to call the police. Gao Qiaoqiao also shouted. ¡°Something went wrong. Quick, get the doctor from the clinic!¡± All the female students took a step back in fright. Their expressions were filled with horror. What the f*ck! Could it be that Su Ruan was really paralyzed? Bai Chuwei lazily pulled out the needle and wiped it clean before keeping it back into the acupuncture bag. After that, she leisurely walked out. The group of female students led by Gao Qiaoqiao was extremely furious and stopped Bai Chuwei. ¡°Something¡¯s wrong with Su Ruan and you still dare to run?¡± ¡°Quick, stop her!¡± Suddenly, a voice containing surprise and disbelief arose from behind. ¡°Wait a minute. My¡ my abdomen doesn¡¯t feel cold anymore.¡± All the female students standing there were stunned!
